पतनान्मूर्छया युक्तः क्षणमात्रं तदाऽभवत् १८.
While running, he became faint and for a moment lost consciousness.
बुद्धिः सद्यः समुत्पन्ना कर्मणा प्राक्तनेन हि १८.
At once, intelligence arose in him, due to previous karma.
भूम्यां निपतितं यच्च गंधपुष्पादिकं महत् १८.
Whatever great fragrance and flowers had fallen to the ground,
चित्रगुप्तेन चाख्यातं दत्तमस्ति त्वया पुनः १८.
Citragupta declared: 'You have given this again.'
पचनीयोसि मे मंद नरकेषु महत्सु च १८.
You are to be cooked by me, O slow one, in the great hells.
पापाचारो हि भगवन्कश्चिन्नैव मया कृतः १८.
O Lord, I have not committed any sinful act.
चित्रगुप्तेन चाख्यातं द्त्तमस्ति त्वया पुनः १८.
Citragupta declared: 'You have given this again.'
तेन कर्मविपाकेन घटिकात्रयमेव च १८.
By the result of that karma, only three moments were obtained.
आगतस्तत्क्षणाद्देवः सुर्वैः समन्वितः शक्रः प्रबोधितस्तेन गुरुणा भावितात्मना॥ १८.
The god arrived at that very moment, accompanied by all the gods; Indra was awakened by that revered teacher, whose mind was imbued with devotion.
घटिकात्रितयं यावत्तावत्कालं पुरंदर १८.
For the duration of three ghaṭikās, O Purandara, that time passed.
गुरोर्वचनमार्कर्ण्य कृत्वा शिरसि तत्क्षणात् भवनं देवराजस्य नानाश्चर्यसमन्वितम्॥ १८.
Hearing the teacher’s words, he placed them upon his head at once; then entered the palace of the king of the gods, filled with various wonders.
शक्रासनेऽभिषिक्तोऽसौ राज्यं प्राप्तः शतक्रतोः १८.
He was consecrated upon Indra’s throne, and attained the kingdom of Śatakratu.
किं पुनः श्रद्धया युक्ताः शिवाय परमात्मने १८.
What then of those who are endowed with faith for Śiva, the Supreme Self?
शिवसायुज्यमायाताः शिवसेनासमन्विताः १८.
They attain union with Śiva, accompanied by Śiva’s hosts.
शिवपूजारतानां च यत्सुखं शांतचेतसाम् १८.
The happiness of those devoted to the worship of Śiva, whose minds are tranquil—
वराकास्ते न जानंति मूढा विषयलोलुपाः १८.
Those wretched ones do not know it, the deluded who are greedy for sense pleasures.
पूजनीयो महादेवः प्राणिभिस्तत्त्ववेदिभिः १८.
The great god is to be worshipped by living beings who know the truth.
पुरोधसाभिषिक्तोऽसौ पुरंदरपदे स्थितः १८.
He was consecrated by the priest and established in the position of Purandara.
इन्द्राणीमानयस्त्वेति यथा राज्यं सुशोभितम् १८.
‘Bring Indrāṇī,’ he said, so that the kingdom may shine beautifully.
इन्द्राण्या नास्ति मे कार्यं न वाच्यं ते महामते १८.
I have no business with Indrāṇī, nor anything to say to you, O wise one.
ऐरावतमगस्त्याय प्रददौ शिववल्लभः १८.
The beloved of Śiva gave Airāvata to Agastya.
उच्चैःश्रवससंज्ञं च कामधेनुं महायशाः १८.
The illustrious one also gave the wish-fulfilling cow named Uccaiḥśravas.
गालवाय महातेजास्तदा कल्पतरुं च सः १८.७९ एवमादीन्यनेकानि रत्नानि विविधानि च १८.
At that time, the mighty one gave the wish-fulfilling tree to Gālava; thus, many such diverse jewels and treasures.
घटितकात्रितयं यावत्तावत्कालं ददौ प्रभुः १८.
For the duration of three ghaṭikās, the lord gave them.
पुरंदरोऽमरावत्यामुपविश्य निजासने १८.
Purandara, seated upon his own throne in Amarāvatī—
शचीमुवाच दुर्मेधाः कितवेनासि भामिनि १८.
He spoke to Śacī: ‘O beautiful one, you are foolish and deceitful.’
तदा प्रहस्य चोवाच पुरंदरमकल्मषा १८.
Then, smiling, the sinless one spoke to Purandara.
असौ महात्मा कितवस्वरूपी शिवप्रसादात्परमार्थविज्ञः १८.
That great-souled one, though appearing as a gambler, through Shiva's grace has attained true knowledge.
राज्यादिकं मोहमयं च पाशं त्यक्ता परेभ्यो विजयी स जातः॥ १८.
He has abandoned the bonds of delusion such as kingship and the rest, and has become victorious over others.
वचो निशम्य देवेश इंद्राण्याः स पुरंदरः १८.
Hearing these words from the lord of the gods, Indra's wife, Purandara—
