One should eat on a plantain leaf, avoiding salt.
At night, one should keep vigil with effort, O slender-waisted one, and after feeding the best of twice-born, one should eat together with relatives.

Thus, as instructed by Kaśyapa, Aditi then performed accordingly.

By that vow, at the end of the year, Janārdana was fully satisfied.
The Lord, bearing the form of a young brāhmaṇa, with two arms and lotus-like eyes,
Seeing him, Aditi was filled with wonder in the midst of worship at that time.
Salutations again and again to you, the cause of causes, the soul of the universe, the creator of the universe, the consciousness itself.
Thus remembered by Aditi, he, the refuge of the gods, appeared.
By your supreme austerity, O sinless one, I am pleased.
Hearing the words of the Blessed Lord, Aditi spoke to him: 'O Janārdana, protect all these gods who have taken refuge.'
Having heard those words, indeed, Vishnu, the sole lord of Vaikuntha, listened.
What must be done by me today, what action by which the gods may attain victory?

The blessed one spoke to Gada: 'Go now, for the purpose of slaying.'

Then he spoke swiftly to the wielder of the discus, Sudarshana.
You are devoted to Brahman, O Vishnu, and likewise that foremost demon pondered in many ways, reflecting for a long time.
Then, what did all those asuras do? Let it be told.
Then all those asuras, led by Bali, were in heaven.

In the same way, Bali, son of Virocana, the great one, was established in the kingdom.

Attended by serpents and groups of asuras, he was served like Mahendra.
He became the giver of gifts to all, and others who had come for charity.
Whatever desires he wishes, he grants all of them.
Indeed, O illustrious one, the lord of the gods never gives.
Whatever good deed is performed by men, with effort, by anyone.
