जल्पंति नानागमभेदैर्मीमांसमानाश्च भवंति मूकाः १३.
Those who speak with various interpretations and debate become mute.
शिवं हि नित्यं परमात्मदैवं वेदैकवेद्यं परमात्मदिव्यम् १३.
Indeed, Shiva is the eternal, supreme soul and divinity, the one to be known through the Veda, the supreme and divine self.
येनैव सृष्टं विधृतं च येन येन श्रितं येन कृतं समग्रम् १३.
By whom this world was created, by whom it is sustained, by whom it is entered, and by whom it is entirely made—
आढ्यो वापि दरिद्रो वा उत्तमो ह्यधमोऽपि वा १३.
Whether one is wealthy or poor, noble or even lowly—
यो वा परकृतां पूजां शिवस्योपरि शोभिताम् १३.
Whoever offers worship to Shiva, even if that worship was performed by another and is resplendent—
ये दीपमालां कुर्वंति कार्तिक्यां श्रद्धयान्विताः तावद्युगसहस्राणि दाता स्वर्गे महीयते॥ १३.
Those who, with faith, arrange rows of lamps during Kartika, the giver is honored in heaven for thousands of ages.
कौसुंभतैलसंयुक्ता दीपा दत्ताः शिवालये १३.
Lamps offered in Shiva’s temple, filled with Kusumbha oil—
अतसीतैलसंयुक्ता दीपा दत्ताः शिवालये १३.
Lamps offered in Shiva’s temple, filled with Atasi oil—
ज्ञानिनोऽपि हि जायंते दीपदानफलेन हि॥ १३.
Even the wise are born again because of the fruit of giving lamps.
तिलतैलेन संयुक्ता दीपा दत्ताः शिवालये १३.
Lamps offered in Shiva’s temple, filled with sesame oil—
घृताक्ता यैः कृता दीपा दीपिताश्च शिवालये १३.
Those who make and light lamps in Shiva’s temple, anointed with ghee—
कर्पूरागुरुधूपैश्च ये यजंति सदा शिवम् ते प्राप्नुवंति सायुज्यं नात्र कार्या विचारणा॥ १३.
Those who always worship Shiva with camphor, agarwood, and incense, they attain union with him—of this there is no doubt.
एककालं द्विकालं वा त्रिकालं ये ह्यतंद्रिताः १३.
Those who, without sloth, worship at one time, two times, or three times—
रुद्राक्षधारणं ये च कुर्वंति शिवपूजने तेषां यत्सुकृतं सर्वमनंतं भवति द्विजाः॥ १३.
Those who wear Rudraksha beads during the worship of Shiva, all their meritorious deeds become infinite, O twice-born ones.
रुद्राक्षा ये शिवेनोक्तास्ताच्छृणुध्वं द्विजोत्तमाः एतेषां द्वौ च विज्ञेयौ श्रेष्ठौ तारयितुं द्विजाः॥ १३.
Hear, O best of Brahmins, about the Rudraksha beads spoken of by Shiva; among them, two are to be known as the best for delivering, O Brahmins.
रुद्राक्षाणां पंचमुखखस्तथा चैकमुखः स्मृतः रुद्रलोकं च गच्छंति मोदन्ते रुद्रसंनिधौ॥ १३.
Among Rudraksha beads, the five-faced and the one-faced are renowned; they go to the world of Rudra and rejoice in the presence of Rudra.
जपस्तपः क्रिया योगः स्नानं दानार्चनादिकम् १३.
Recitation, austerity, ritual acts, yoga, bathing, giving, and worship—
शुनः कंठनिबद्धोऽपि रुद्राक्षो यदि वर्तते १३.
Even if a Rudraksha is tied around the neck of a dog—
तथा रुद्राक्षसंबंधात्पापमपिक्षयं व्रजेत् १३.
Thus, by association with Rudraksha, even sin is destroyed.
त्रिपुण्ड्रधारणं येषां विभूत्वा मन्त्रपूतया १३.
Those who wear the tripuṇḍra, sacred ash in three lines, purified by mantra—
कपिलायाश्च संगृह्य गोमयं चांतरिक्षगम् १३.
And gathering the dung of a tawny cow that moves through the air,
विभूतीति समाख्याता सर्वपापप्रणाशिनी १३.
it is called vibhūti, the destroyer of all sins.
मध्यमां वर्जयित्वा तु अंगुलीक्द्वयेन च स शैवः शिववज्ज्ञेयो दर्शनात्पापनाशनः॥ १३.
Except for the middle finger, using two fingers, that is to be known as Shaiva, like Shiva himself; by its sight, sin is destroyed.
जटाधराश्च ये शैवाः सप्त पंच तथा नव १३.
Those Shaivas who wear matted hair—seven, five, and also nine—
ते शिवं प्राप्नुवं तीह नात्र कार्या विचारणा १३.
they surely attain Shiva here; there is no need for any doubt about this.
अल्पेन वा महत्त्वेन पूजितो वा सदाशिवः १३.
Whether worshipped in a small way or with great devotion, Sadashiva is always pleased.
तस्माच्छिवात्परतरं नास्ति किंचिद्द्विजोत्तमाः १३.
Therefore, O best of twice-born, there is nothing higher than Shiva.
शिवो दाता हि लोकानां कर्ता चैवानुमोदिता १३.
Indeed, Shiva is the giver and creator of the worlds, and he is approved by all.
शिवेति द्व्यक्षरं नाम त्रायते महतो भयात् १३.
The two-syllabled name 'Shiva' protects from great fear.
सोमनाथस्य माहात्म्यं ज्ञातं तस्य प्रसादतः १३.
The greatness of Somanatha has been known by his grace.
