आसन्नप्रसवा नारी यथा गच्छेदनाकुलम्
Just as a woman near childbirth walks without distress,
स्नातो विशुद्धवेषः सन्भस्मरुद्राक्षभूषितः
Having bathed, wearing pure garments, adorned with ash and rudrākṣa beads,
मनूनां चरतामग्रे देवानां च सहस्रशः
While the Manus and thousands of gods proceed ahead,
संघट्टमतिसंमर्दं मार्गरोधं विचिंतयन् 1.3.1.9.
He considers the crowds, the great throng, and the obstruction of the path.
अथवा शिवनामानि संकीर्त्य वरगीतिभिः
Or, reciting the names of Shiva with excellent songs,
माहात्म्यं मम वा शृण्वन्ननन्यमतिरादरात्
Or listening with undistracted mind and reverence to my greatness,
दानैश्च विविधैः पुण्यैरुपकारैस्तथार्थिनाम्
And by various meritorious gifts and acts of kindness to those in need,
कृते त्वग्निमयं लिंगं त्रेतायां मणिपर्वतम्
In the Kṛta age, the liṅga was of fire; in the Tretā, of jewel-mountain.
अथवा स्फाटिकं रूपमरुणं तु स्वयंप्रभम्
Or else, its form is crystal, or red, self-luminous.
अवाङ्मनसगम्यत्वादप्रमेयतया स्वयम्
Because it is beyond the reach of speech and mind, and immeasurable by nature,
ध्यात्वा प्रदक्षिणं कर्तुरभिगम्योऽहमंजसा
Having meditated, one should approach and circumambulate me directly.
रूपमेकं तु धत्ते यः शोणाद्रीशप्रदक्षिणे
He who assumes a single form while circumambulating the Lord of the Red Mountain,
कुर्वतां चरणं वोढुमरुणाद्रिप्रदक्षिणाम्
Of those who undertake to carry their feet around the Red Mountain,
कुर्वतां भुवि मर्त्त्यानामरुणाद्रिप्रदक्षिणाम् 1.3.1.9.
Of mortals on earth who perform circumambulation of the Red Mountain,
सेवंते ते गणाकीर्णा विमानशतकोटयः
Hundreds of millions of aerial chariots filled with hosts of attendants serve them.
पाविता महती वीथी दृष्टा शिवपदप्रदा
A great and holy path is seen, leading to the feet of Shiva.
प्राप्तो वज्रशरीरत्वं न धृष्येत महीतले
Having attained a body as hard as a diamond, he cannot be harmed on earth.
अदृश्याः संचरंत्यत्र पश्यंते मम संनिधिम्
Here, they move about unseen, yet they behold my presence.
दृष्ट्वा हर्षसमायुक्ता मर्त्त्येभ्यो ददते वरम्
Seeing me, filled with joy, they grant boons to mortals.
प्रत्यहं मार्गमासीनाः प्रत्येकं कोटितां गताः
Every day, seated along the path, each one reaches the number of ten million.
संपूर्णजगतीभागे सर्वे ग्रहपतां गताः
In every part of the filled universe, all have attained the status of planetary lords.
स सूर्यमडलं भित्त्वा मुक्तः शिवपुरं व्रजेत्
Breaking through the solar orb, he is released and goes to the city of Shiva.
अजरामरतां प्राप्तो नासौम्यो भवति क्षितौ
Having attained agelessness and immortality, he is not ungracious on earth.
आनृण्यमखिलं प्राप्य सार्वभौमो भवेद्ध्रुवम् 1.3.1.9.
Having attained complete freedom from debt, he surely becomes sovereign over all.
सर्वज्ञतामनुप्राप्तः स वाचां पतितामियात्
Having attained omniscience, he reaches the lordship of speech.
प्रदक्षिणेन शोणाद्रेः स तु लोकगुरुर्भवेत्
By circumambulating Mount Shona to the right, he becomes the teacher of the worlds.
संप्राप्य महतीं लक्ष्मीं लभते वैष्णवं पदम्
Having obtained great prosperity, he attains the abode of Vishnu.
विमुक्तो ग्रहपीडाभिः स विश्वविजयी भवेत्
Freed from the afflictions of the planets, he becomes victorious over the universe.
मम प्रदक्षिणां कर्तुः पुण्यानि सहसा व्रजेत्
For one who performs my circumambulation, merits quickly arise.
अभीष्टफलदा जाताः कुर्वतां मत्प्रदक्षिणाम्
For those who perform my circumambulation, their actions yield desired results.
