At that time, Rudra, who is to be grasped by the heel, became the priest of the gods.
Those who engage in priestly duties, beginning with Vasistha, know him.
Even the sages of other lineages began, out of respect for you, your sacrifice.
At that time, you should invoke the Lord of all sacrifices, the Lord of the universe.
When that great god is present, the sole witness of all creation,
Just as inert seeds do not bear fruit by themselves,
Just as speech without meaning, or a body without righteousness,
Just as lands without the Ganges, or homes without sons,
Just as a kingdom without a minister, or twice-born without the Vedas,
Just as twilight worship without darbha grass, or offerings without sesame,
Thus, the words spoken by Dadhichi were not accepted.
And, greatly angered, he said: 'Why do you worry about my sacrifice?'
Those acts certainly succeed here when performed properly.
And indeed, the Lord is present for the accomplishment of every action.
Let it be so; the supreme witness should never grant anything anywhere.
All actions are inert and bear no fruit without the Lord.
Even inert seeds, upon attaining the right time, manifest their own nature.
He instructed those nearby, having looked all around.
With the sound of Brahman, with a high tone, the quality of the ether-sound became clear.
The earth rejoiced greatly with the Vidyādharas, and thus, when this had occurred, the sage Nārada went to Kailāsa.
Then Nārada, along with Agastya, approached the Goddess as before.
Seeing Śaṃbhu conversing with Nandī, Nārada beheld them.
He sat down on the excellent seat offered by the lord of mountains.
By his very appearance, the all-knowing one understood the entire situation.
This existence of embodied beings is characterized by creation and dissolution.
All that is seen is perishable, especially that which is not governed by the Lord.
For from non-existence, existence can never arise anywhere.
Hearing these words spoken by Śaṃbhu, that foremost sage reflected thus.
Whatever must inevitably occur, has indeed come to pass—there is no doubt of this.
In truth, nothing of yours is diminished nor increased in reality.
