Viśvakarma himself prepares ornaments for the arriving priests.
Lakshmi herself adorns the noble women present here.
All are for my happiness, Daksha, as I observe everything.
Just as a lifeless body, though adorned, does not shine.
Hearing these words of Dadhichi, Daksha, the lord of creatures,
became exceedingly delighted, for he had previously been praised by Dadhichi.
Then, with trembling limbs, he addressed that sage.
Ah, I have now attained initiation; nothing remains to be done.
By whom were you summoned, O great dullard, that you have come here?
Where the glorious Hari is present, who is the auspiciousness of all that is auspicious,
where Indra, the wielder of the thunderbolt, is initiated in a hundred sacrifices,
do you wish to compare this great sacrifice to a cremation ground?
Where there is prosperity, where the giver of prosperity is manifest, where the swift destroyer is present,
where the divine preceptor himself has come to preside as the priest of the sacrifice,
where these sages, headed by Vasistha, are engaged in priestly duties,
Hearing this, the sage Dadhichi, foremost among the wise, spoke.
Yet, even so, the power of Shambhu is declared in the Veda, and Vishnu is recited.
He who, armed with the thunderbolt, has been initiated in a hundred horse sacrifices,
again worshipping the Lord of beings, attained the single city of the immortals.
His strength was known to all, when he once bound the white one with a noose.
At that time, Rudra, who is to be grasped by the heel, became the priest of the gods.
Those who engage in priestly duties, beginning with Vasistha, know him.
Even the sages of other lineages began, out of respect for you, your sacrifice.
At that time, you should invoke the Lord of all sacrifices, the Lord of the universe.
When that great god is present, the sole witness of all creation,
Just as inert seeds do not bear fruit by themselves,
Just as speech without meaning, or a body without righteousness,
Just as lands without the Ganges, or homes without sons,
Just as a kingdom without a minister, or twice-born without the Vedas,
Just as twilight worship without darbha grass, or offerings without sesame,
