Having bathed in the Uttara Vahā, he stood all around Dharmesha.
Absorbed in the recitation of the great Rudra, he then praised the three-eyed one with threads (of hymns).
Again he extolled Rudra many times with hymns from the Vedas.
O lord of Śacī, I am pleased; choose a boon, O virtuous one.
Having heard these loving words of the god of gods, Hari,
Then, moved by his compassion, and by service at the seat of Dharma,
There, by bathing alone, Indra instantly became fragrant with divine scent.
Then, seeing this wonder, the sages, beginning with Nārada,
They satisfied the divine ancestors and performed śrāddha rites with faith.
From that time onward, that sacred place became renowned as Dharmāṃdhura.
The fruit that is proclaimed to result from bathing at the king of sacred places,
At the gateway of the Ganges, in Kurukshetra, and at the confluence of the Ganges and the ocean,
On the Narmada, Sarasvati, Gautami, at Simhaga, and at the Guru,
At Manasa, at Pushkara, at Dvarika, and likewise at the ocean,
During Kartika at the boar’s field, during Chaitra at the great lake of Gauri,
Two sacred places await those who desire to bathe, as do their ancestors among men.
Either near the forefathers or at the forefront of Dharmesha,
Having bathed in the well of Dharma and fully satisfied the forefathers,
Just as the forefathers are satisfied by the offering of rice balls at Gaya,
Those devoted to their ancestors are blessed; their forefathers are pleased by them.
By the power of that sacred place, one becomes free of sin in an instant.
The greatness of that dharma-sacred place, O son of Kumbha, is boundless.
Even if a man gives only a coin’s worth there for the joy of his ancestors,
Whoever feeds Brahmins there, or ascetics, or those who are exceedingly austere,
Having attained Amaravati, Indra then, before the assembly of the gods,
Arriving again here, in the blissful grove of Shambhu,
To the west of Tarakesha, it is called Indreshvara, as declared,
To its south is Shachisha, established by Shachi herself.
Near that place is the Lord of Rambhā, bestower of abundant happiness and prosperity.
By worshipping him, the world-guardians who grant prosperity become pleased; by seeing him, courage arises in kings and royal families.
