यन्नामस्मरणादेव न भयं कलिकालतः
By merely remembering its name, there is no fear from the age of Kali.
महाकालाभिधं लिंगं दर्शनान्मोक्षदं परम् 4.2.69.
The liṅga called Mahākāla here grants the highest liberation upon sight.
आविरासीदिह महत्पुष्करेण सहैव तु
It manifested here together with the great Puṣkara.
स्नात्वाऽयोगंधकुंडे तु भवात्तारयते पितॄन्
By bathing in the Yogaṃdhakuṇḍa, one delivers one's ancestors from becoming.
त्रिलोचनादुदीच्यां तु तद्दृष्टमुक्तये मतम् कामेश्वरोत्तरे भागे दृष्टं विमलसिद्धिदम्
From Trilocana to the north, it is considered for the vision of liberation; in the northern part of Kāmeśvara, it is seen to bestow pure accomplishment.
विश्वस्थानादिहायातं लिंगं वै विमलेश्वरम्
The liṅga called Vimaleśvara came here from Viśvasthāna.
महाव्रतं महालिंगं महेंद्रादिह संस्थितम्
The great vow, the great liṅga, and Mahendra are established here.
वृंदारकर्षिवृंदानां स्तुवतां प्रथमे युगे
In the first age, as the hosts of Vṛndāra and sages praised,
महादेवेति तैरुक्तं यन्मनोरथपूरणात
They called it Mahādeva, as it fulfills their heart's desires.
मुक्तिक्षेत्रं कृतं येन महालिंगेन काशिका
By that great liṅga, Kāśikā was made a field of liberation.
शंभुलोके गमस्तस्य यत्रतत्र मृतस्य हि
For one who dies anywhere, there is attainment of Śambhu's world.
कल्पांतरेपि न त्यक्तं कदाप्यानंदकाननम् 4.2.69.
Even in another aeon, the forest of bliss is never abandoned.
तत्प्रसादोयमतुलः सर्वरत्नमयः शुभः
By its grace, this incomparable, auspicious place is filled with all jewels.
वाराणस्यामधिष्ठात्री देवता साभिलाषदा
The presiding goddess of Vārāṇasī grants all desires.
वाराणस्यां महादेवो दृष्टो यैर्लिंगरूपधृक्
Those who have seen Mahadeva in the form of the linga at Varanasi,
वाराणस्यां महादेवं समभ्यर्च्य सकृन्नरः
Anyone who worships Mahadeva even once at Varanasi,
पवित्रपर्वणि सदा श्रावणे मासि यत्नतः
Always, with care, during the holy festival in the month of Shravana,
पितामहेश्वरं लिंगं गयातीर्थादिहागतम्
The linga of Pitamaha Ishvara, which has come here from the sacred Gayā tirtha,
धर्मेण यत्र वै तप्तं युगानामयुतं शतम्
Where, through righteousness, austerity was performed for a hundred thousand yugas,
पितामहेश्वरं लिंगं तत्राभ्यर्च्य नरो मुदा
A man who joyfully worships the linga of Pitamaha Ishvara there,
प्रयागात्तीर्थराजाच्च शूलटंको महेश्वरः
From Prayaga, the king of tirthas, Maheshvara bearing the trident,
निर्वाणमंडपाद्रम्यादवाच्यामतिनिर्मलः 4.2.69.
From the pavilion of Nirvana, exceedingly pure and beyond description,
देवेनैव वरो दत्तो यत्र पूर्वं युगांतरे
Where, in a former age, a boon was granted by the deity himself,
यः प्रयाग इह स्नातो नमस्यति महेश्वरम्
Whoever bathes here at Prayaga and bows to Maheshvara,
प्रयागस्नानजात्पुण्याच्छूलटंक विलोकनात्
From the merit born of bathing at Prayaga and from beholding Shulataka,
शंकुकर्णान्महाक्षेत्रान्महातेज इतीरितम्
The great fields of Shankukarṇa, renowned for their immense brilliance, are declared thus.
महातेजोनिधिस्तस्य प्रासादोतीवनिर्मलः
The abode there is a repository of great brilliance, exceedingly pure beyond the grove.
तल्लिंगदर्शनात्स्पर्शात्स्तवनाच्च समर्चनात्
By seeing, touching, praising, and worshipping that linga,
विनायकेश्वरात्पूर्वं महातेजः समर्चनात्
Before Vinayakeshvara, through worship, great brilliance is obtained.
रुद्रकोटिसमाख्यातात्तीर्थात्परमपावनात्
From the tirtha known as Rudrakoti, supremely purifying,
