इति दत्त्वा वरं तस्मै स्मरारिः स्मेरलोचनः 4.2.63.
Thus, having granted the boon to him, Smarāri, with smiling eyes—
निष्पापो जायते मर्त्यो नोपसर्गैः प्रबाध्यते
A mortal becomes free from sin and is not afflicted by calamities.
तानि ते कथयिष्यामि शृणु वातापितापन
I shall tell you those things; listen, O remover of Vāta and Pitta.
ज्येष्ठेशाद्दक्षिणे भागे लिंगमप्सरसां शुभम्
To the south of Jyeṣṭheśa is the auspicious linga of the Apsarases.
तत्कूपजलसुस्नातो विलोक्याप्सरसेश्वरम्
Having bathed well in the water of that well, one should behold Apsaraseśvara.
तत्रैव कुक्कुटेशाख्यं लिंगं वापीसमीपगम्
There itself is the linga called Kukkuṭeśa, near the pond.
पितामहेश्वरं लिंगं ज्येष्ठवापीतटे शुभम्
The auspicious linga Pitāmaheśvara is on the bank of the Jyeṣṭha pond.
पितामहेशान्नैर्ऋत्यां पूजनीयं प्रयत्नतः
Pitāmaheśa should be worshipped with care in the southwest.
दिशि पुण्यजनाख्यायां लिंगाज्ज्येष्ठेश्वरान्मुने
O sage, in the direction called Puṇyajanā, there is the liṅga known as Jyeṣṭheśvara.
तत्र वासुकिकुंडे च स्नानदानादिकाः क्रियाः
There, at the Vāsuki pool, one should perform acts such as bathing and giving gifts.
यः स्नातो नागपंचम्यां कुंडे वासुकिसंज्ञिते
Whoever bathes in the pool named Vāsuki on Nāga Pañcamī,
कर्तव्या नागपञ्चम्यां यात्रा वर्षासु तत्र वै 4.2.66.
On Nāga Pañcamī, one must undertake a pilgrimage there during the rainy season.
तत्कुण्डात्पश्चिमे भागे लिंगं वै तक्षकेश्वरम्
To the west of that pool is the liṅga called Takṣakeśvara.
मुनेस्तस्योत्तरे भागे कुण्डं तक्षकसंज्ञितम्
To the north of that sage is the pool named Takṣaka.
तत्कुण्डादुत्तरे भागे क्षेत्रं क्षेमकरः सदा
To the north of that pool is the field that always brings welfare.
भैरवस्य महाक्षेत्रं तद्वै साधकसिद्धिदम्
There is the great field of Bhairava, which grants success to practitioners.
तत्र चण्डी महामुण्डा भक्तविघ्नोपशांतिदा। बलिपूजोपहाराद्यैः पूज्या स्वाभीष्टसिद्धये
There, Caṇḍī Mahāmuṇḍā removes obstacles for devotees; she is to be worshipped with offerings, sacrifices, and gifts to fulfill one’s wishes.
तस्या यात्रां तु यः कुर्यान्महाष्टम्यां नरोत्तमः
Whoever, O best of men, undertakes her pilgrimage on Mahāṣṭamī,
महामुण्डा प्रतीच्यां तु चतुःसागरवापिका
To the west of Mahāmuṇḍā is the pond called Catuḥsāgara.
महाप्रसिद्धं तत्स्थानं चतुःसागरसंज्ञितम्
That place is very famous and is known as Catuḥsāgara.
तस्या वाप्याश्चतुर्दिक्षु पूजितानि दहंत्यघम्
At the four directions of that pond, the deities who are worshipped burn away sin.
हरस्य वृषभेणैव स्थापितं तत्स्वभक्तितः 4.2.66.
That was established by Hara himself, out of devotion, through his bull.
वृषेश्वरादुदीच्यां तु गंधर्वेश्वरसंज्ञितम्
To the north of Vṛṣeśvara is the liṅga called Gandharveśvara.
गंधर्वेश्वरमभ्यर्च्य दत्त्वा दानानि शक्तितः
After worshipping Gandharveśvara and giving gifts according to one’s ability,
कर्कोटनामा नागोस्ति गन्धर्वेश्वरपूर्वतः
There is a nāga named Karkoṭa to the east of Gandharveśvara.
तस्यां वाप्यां नरः स्नात्वा कर्कोटेशं समर्च्य च
After bathing in that pond and worshipping Karkoṭeśa, a man...
कर्कोट नागो यैर्दृष्टस्तद्वाप्यां विहितोदकैः
Those by whom the serpent Karkoṭa was seen at that pond, having performed the prescribed ablutions,
कर्कोटेशात्प्रतीच्यां तु धुंधुमारीश्वराभिधम्
To the west of Karkoṭa, there is the deity known as Dhuṃdhumāreśvara.
पुरूरवेश्वरं लिंगं तदुदीच्यां व्यवस्थितम्
To the north of that is established the liṅga called Purūraveśvara.
दिग्गजेनार्चितं लिंगं सुप्रतीकेन तत्पुरः
In front of that, the liṅga is worshipped by the guardian of the directions, Supratīka.
