अपरश्च वरो नाथ देयोयमविचारतः
Another boon, O Master, is to be given without deliberation.
तदस्तु सर्वं तेभीष्टं वरमन्यं ददामि च ।। 4.2.63.
Let it be so; all your desires are fulfilled, and I grant you another boon as well.
योगशास्त्रं मया दत्तं तव निर्वाणसाधकम्
I have given you the yoga scripture, which leads to liberation.
रहस्यं योगविद्याया यथावत्त्वं तपोधन
You shall receive, O ascetic, the secret of yoga knowledge in its entirety.
यथा नदी यथा भृंगी सोमनंदी यथा तथा
Just as a river, just as a bee, just as Soma-nandī, so it is.
संति व्रतानि भूयांसि नियमाः संत्यनेकधा
There are many vows, and many disciplines, in various forms.
श्रेयसां साधनान्यत्र पापघ्नान्यपि सर्वथा
Elsewhere are means for attaining excellence, and all are certainly destroyers of sin.
परो हि नियमश्चैष मां विलोक्य यदश्यते
This is the highest discipline: when one beholds me, whatever is eaten.
असमर्च्य च यो भुङ्क्ते पत्रपुष्पफलैरपि
He who eats without worship, even with leaves, flowers, or fruits—
महतो नियमस्यास्य भवतानुष्ठितस्य वै
Of this great discipline, when practiced by you—
अतो मच्चरणाभ्याशे त्वं निवत्स्यसि सर्वथा
Therefore, you shall always remain near my feet.
जैगीषव्येश्वरं नाम लिंगं काश्यां सुदुर्लभम् 4.2.63.
The linga named Jaigīṣavyeśvara, exceedingly rare, is in Kāśī.
जैगीषव्यगुहां प्राप्य योगाभ्यसनतत्परः
Having reached the cave of Jaigīṣavya, devoted to constant practice of yoga,
तव लिंगमिदं भक्तैः पूजनीयं प्रयत्नतः
This linga of yours should be worshipped with care by devotees.
अत्र ज्येष्ठेश्वरक्षेत्रे त्वल्लिंगं सर्वसिद्धिदम्
Here, in the field of Jyeṣṭheśvara, your linga grants all accomplishments.
अस्मिञ्ज्येष्ठेश्वरक्षेत्रे संभोज्य शिवयोगिनः
In this field of Jyeṣṭheśvara, the yogins devoted to Śiva should be honored.
जैगीषव्येश्वरं लिंगं गोपनीयं प्रयत्नतः
The Jaigīṣavyeśvara linga should be carefully concealed.
करिष्याम्यत्र सांनिध्यमस्मिँल्लिंगे तपोधन
O ascetic, I shall establish my presence here in this very linga.
ददे शृणु महाभाग जैगीषव्यापरं वरम्
Hear, O highly fortunate one, the special boon I grant to Jaigīṣavya.
महापापौघशमनं महापुण्यप्रवर्धनम्
It destroys great heaps of sin and greatly increases supreme merit.
इति दत्त्वा वरं तस्मै स्मरारिः स्मेरलोचनः 4.2.63.
Thus, having granted the boon to him, Smarāri, with smiling eyes—
निष्पापो जायते मर्त्यो नोपसर्गैः प्रबाध्यते
A mortal becomes free from sin and is not afflicted by calamities.
तानि ते कथयिष्यामि शृणु वातापितापन
I shall tell you those things; listen, O remover of Vāta and Pitta.
ज्येष्ठेशाद्दक्षिणे भागे लिंगमप्सरसां शुभम्
To the south of Jyeṣṭheśa is the auspicious linga of the Apsarases.
तत्कूपजलसुस्नातो विलोक्याप्सरसेश्वरम्
Having bathed well in the water of that well, one should behold Apsaraseśvara.
तत्रैव कुक्कुटेशाख्यं लिंगं वापीसमीपगम्
There itself is the linga called Kukkuṭeśa, near the pond.
पितामहेश्वरं लिंगं ज्येष्ठवापीतटे शुभम्
The auspicious linga Pitāmaheśvara is on the bank of the Jyeṣṭha pond.
पितामहेशान्नैर्ऋत्यां पूजनीयं प्रयत्नतः
Pitāmaheśa should be worshipped with care in the southwest.
दिशि पुण्यजनाख्यायां लिंगाज्ज्येष्ठेश्वरान्मुने
O sage, in the direction called Puṇyajanā, there is the liṅga known as Jyeṣṭheśvara.
तत्र वासुकिकुंडे च स्नानदानादिकाः क्रियाः
There, at the Vāsuki pool, one should perform acts such as bathing and giving gifts.
