काशीभयहरो नित्यमैश्यां शालकटंकटात्
The remover of Kāśī's fears is always in the northeast, from Śālakaṭaṃkaṭa.
कूश्मांडात्पूर्वदिग्भागे पंचास्यो नाम विघ्नराद्
In the eastern direction from Kūśmāṇḍa is Vighnarāja named Paṃcāsya.
हेरंबाख्यः सदाग्नेय्यां पूज्यो मुंडविनायकात्
Heramba by name, always to the southeast, is to be worshipped after Muṇḍavināyaka.
अवाच्यामर्चयेद्धीमान्सिद्ध्यै विकटदंततः
The wise should worship Avācya for success, after Vikaṭadaṃta.
विनायकाद्राजपुत्रात्किंचिद्रक्षोदिशिस्थितः
A little to the side of the prince Vināyaka is the protector of the directions.
याम्यां प्रणवविघ्नेशाद्गणेशो मोदकप्रियः
In the southern direction, from Praṇava Vighneśa, is Gaṇeśa who delights in modaka sweets.
चतुर्थावरणे काश्यां भक्तविघ्नविनाशकाः
In the fourth enclosure at Kāśī are those who destroy the obstacles of devotees.
वक्रतुंडादुदग्दिक्स्थः स्वःसिंधो रोधसिस्थितः
Vakratuṇḍa is situated in the north, on the bank of the celestial river.
कौबेर्यामेकदशनात्सिंहतुंडो विनायकः 4.2.57.
In the Kubera direction is the Vināyaka Siṃhatuṇḍa, with eleven teeth.
कूणिताक्षो गणाध्यक्षस्त्रितुंडादीश दिक्स्थितः
Kuṇitākṣa, the overseer of the gaṇas, is stationed in the direction of the lord with three trunks.
प्राच्यां पंचास्यतः पायात्पुरीं क्षिप्रप्रसादनः
In the east, may the Five-Faced One, the swift bestower of grace, protect the city.
हेरंबाद्वह्निदिग्भागे चिंतामणि विनायकः
From Heramba in the direction of fire, the Wish-Fulfilling Vinayaka stands guard.
विघ्नराजादवाच्यां तु दंतहस्तो गणेश्वरः
From Vighnaraja in the south, the Lord of Ganas with the elephant tusk protects.
वरदाद्यातुधान्यां च यातुधानगणावृतः
In the region of the Yatudhanas, Varada, surrounded by hosts of spirits, stands watch.
दृष्टः पिलिपिलातीर्थे दक्षिणे मोदकप्रियात्
He is seen at the Pilipila ford to the south, fond of sweet dumplings.
प्राकारे पंचमे काश्यां द्विचतुष्क विनायकाः
On the fifth rampart in Kashi, the Vinayakas appear in pairs and fours.
तीरे स्वर्गतरंगिण्या उत्तरे चाभयप्रदात्
On the bank of the heavenly river, to the north, the giver of fearlessness stands.
सिंहतुडादुदग्भागे कलिप्रिय विनायकः
At Simhatunda to the north, the Vinayaka dear to Kali is present.
कूणिताक्षात्तथैशान्यां चतुर्दंतो विनायकः 4.2.57.
From Kunitaaksha in the northeast, the Four-Tusked Vinayaka stands guard.
याम्यांसृष्टिगणेशश्च सृष्टिसंहारसूचकः ९ [ प्रतीच्यां गजकर्णश्च सर्वेषां क्षेमकारकः 4.2.57.
In the south, Srishti-Ganesa, the sign of creation and dissolution; in the west, Gajakarna, the bringer of welfare to all.
संप्रसाद्य यथायोगं सर्वानुचित चंचुरः 4.2.57.
Having been propitiated as appropriate, he removes all that is improper.
श्रुत्वाध्यायमिमं पुण्यं नरः श्रद्धासमन्वितः
Whoever, endowed with faith, hears this sacred chapter—
अगस्त्य उवाच दृष्ट्वा काशीं दृगानंदां तारकारे पुरारिणा
Agastya said: Having seen Kashi, delighting the eyes, by Tarakari, the enemy of the cities—
मृगांकलक्ष्मणोत्कंठं काशी नेत्रातिथीकृता
Kashi, whose longing is marked by the deer-moon, was made a guest by the Lord of the Eye.
अथ सर्वज्ञनाथेन भक्तवत्सलचेतसा
Then, by the Lord who knows all, whose heart is fond of devotees—
यमनेहसमारभ्य मदंराद्रिं विनिर्ययौ
Beginning at the abode of Yama, he set out for the intoxicated mountain.
तं वासरं पुरस्कृत्य जग्राह नियमं दृढम्
Taking that day as auspicious, he undertook a firm vow.
विषमेक्षण पादाब्जं समीक्षिष्ये यदा पुनः
When again shall I behold the lotus feet of the One with the uneven gaze?
कुतश्चिद्धारणायोगादथवा शंभ्वनुग्रहात
Either through some practice of concentration, or by the grace of Śambhu,
तं शंभुरेव जानाति नान्यो जानाति कश्चन
Only Śambhu himself knows that; no one else knows it.
