Kuṇḍodara, named Mayūra, Bāṇa, and also Gokarṇa—
Though they employed a hundred strategies in Divodāsa’s confusion, not even one was successful, and so they remained there.
By what action is the Lord pleased, when there are hundreds of offenses?
When even one liṅga of Śambhu is worshipped here according to rule—
Śambhu is not so pleased by sacrifices, gifts, or austerities.
He who knows the proper method of liṅga worship and is always devoted to it—
Not by giving a hundred cows, nor by giving a hundred pieces of gold—
Not by sacrifices such as the Aśvamedha is that fruit obtained.
He who, according to rule, bathes the liṅga and uses the water of that bathing—
He who anoints the head with the water from the bathing of the liṅga—
Whoever, upon seeing a worshipped liṅga, offers even a single bow,
Whoever installs a liṅga with devotion is freed from sins accumulated over seven births.
Thus, considering with the Gaṇas in Kāśī, for the pacification of betrayal against the Lord,
Upon seeing the liṅga of Kuṇḍodareśvara in the presence of the restless sun,
From the liṅga of Kuṇḍodareśvara, to the west, at the top of the head,
And to the west of Mayūreśa, the great liṅga called Bāṇeśvara,
The great liṅga of Gokarṇeśa is within the house, to the west.
For the devotee of Gokarṇeśvara, at the time of death,
He described the greatness and majesty of that Kāśī.
By the Māyā of Viṣṇu’s power, the whole universe is made to wander here.
Having abandoned brothers, wives, sons, land, house, and wealth,
There is not the slightest fear of death in Kāśī.
Where death is auspicious, and prosperity is an ornament,
Where liberation is delightful, whether for a pauper or even the poorest,
Where, for creatures who have died, the state of liberation is attained,
Where, in Kāśī, a creature who dies is led by Brahmā, Nārāyaṇa, and others,
Where, in Kāśī, even if a being dies as a corpse, he does not attain impurity,
Whoever, pious, recites 'Kāśī, Kāśī' two or three times,
By whom Kāśī is meditated upon in the heart, by whom Kāśī is served here,
Whoever serves Kāśī with unwavering mind,
