किंचित्पातकशुद्ध्यर्थं चंडालस्य च वेश्मनि 5.2.78.
For the partial cleansing of my sin, I was born in the house of a caṇḍāla.
सारमेयैर्वृता दीना भक्ष्यमाणा पुनःपुनः तैरहं तुद्यमानापि महाकालवनं गता
Surrounded by dogs, wretched, repeatedly devoured by them, though tormented by them I went to the great forest of death.
दृष्टो मया महादेवो दैवतो मृगमाणया
I beheld the great god, the divine one, while pursuing the deer.
तस्य दर्शनमात्रेण गता शक्रपुरं प्रति दिव्यांबरधरा दिव्या दिव्यमालाविभूषणा
Merely by seeing him, I went toward the city of Indra, adorned in celestial garments, radiant, and decorated with divine garlands.
तत्राहं पूजिता देवैः स्तुताहं चारणैस्तथा
There, I was honored by the gods and praised by the celestial beings.
वल्लभा रूपसंपन्ना शाकले नगरे शुभे
Beloved and endowed with beauty, I resided in the auspicious city of Shakala.
स्मृत्वा लिंगस्य माहात्म्यं हर्षो जातस्तु तत्क्षणात्
Remembering the greatness of the linga, joy arose in me at that very moment.
जाता जातिस्मरा तात ब्रह्मचर्यव्रते स्थिता यथा न भूयो मे जन्म स्याच्च संसारसागरे
I became one who remembers past births, O father, established in the vow of celibacy, so that I might not be born again in the ocean of worldly existence.
इति पुत्रीवचः श्रुत्वा चित्रसेनो महीपतिः
Hearing these words of his daughter, Citrashena, the king,
ददर्श तत्र तल्लिंगं पूजयामास भक्तितः
Saw that linga there and worshipped it with devotion.
राजा च पुत्रवाञ्जातो लिंगदर्शनतः प्रिये 5.2.78.
The king, desiring a son, obtained one by seeing the linga, O beloved.
एतस्मिन्नंतरे देवि दृष्ट्वा देवे लयं गताम्
Meanwhile, O goddess, seeing the goddess who had merged into the god,
अविमुक्तस्य लिंगस्य दर्शनादेव तत्क्षणात्
Merely by seeing the linga of Avimukta, at that very moment,
योऽसौ काश्यां प्रसिद्धोऽस्ति देवो विश्वेश्वरः शिवः
That god who is renowned in Kashi, Lord Shiva, the ruler of all,
वाराणसी यथा पुण्या तथावंती च मुक्तिदा
Just as Varanasi is holy, so also Avanti grants liberation.
तस्माद्विश्वेश्वरो देवः समायातः कुशस्थलीम्
Therefore, Lord Vishveshvara came to Kushasthali.
पश्यंति परया भक्त्या ह्यविमुक्तेश्वरं शिवम्
They behold Avimukteshvara Shiva with supreme devotion.
अमुक्ता नैव पश्यंति मुक्ताः पश्यंति सर्वदा
The unliberated do not see him; the liberated always see him.
तत्फलं प्राप्यते सम्यगविमुक्तेशदर्शनात्
The proper fruit is attained by the sight of Avimukteshvara.
या गतिः प्राप्यते सांख्यैयोगैर्वा या गतिर्भवेत्
The state attained by Sankhya or Yoga, or whatever state may be achieved,
जन्ममृत्युभयं हित्वा स याति परमां गतिम् ।। 5.2.78.
Abandoning the fear of birth and death, he attains the highest state.
ब्रह्महापि च यो गच्छेदविमुक्तेश्वरं यजेत्
Even one who has slain a Brahmin, if he goes to Avimukteśvara or worships there,
शाठ्येनापि च यः पश्येदविमुक्ते श्वरं शिवम्
Or even if, with deceit, one beholds Śiva, the Lord in Avimukta,
स्मृतः संपूजितो भक्त्या स्तुतो वा विविधैः स्तवैः
If he is remembered, worshipped with devotion, or praised with various hymns,
एष ते कथितो देवि प्रभावः पापनाशनः
O Goddess, this power of his, which destroys sin, has been told to you.
यस्य दर्शनमात्रेण समीहितफलं लभेत्
By whose mere sight one obtains the desired fruit,
प्राप्तराज्यस्य रामस्य राक्षसानां वधे कृते
When Rāma had attained his kingdom, after the destruction of the Rākṣasas,
रामेण पूजिताः सर्वे ह्यगस्तिप्रमुखा द्विजाः
All the Brahmins, headed by Agastya, were worshipped by Rāma.
दिष्ट्या तु निहतो राम रावणः पुत्रपौत्रवान्
By good fortune, Rāvaṇa, who had sons and grandsons, was slain by you, O Rāma.
हनूमता च सहितं वानरेण महात्मना
Together with Hanumān, the great-souled monkey,
