O fair-browed one, my very life is leaving me without you.
Even nectar, once attained, is abandoned—such is the fickleness of the mind.
O faultless one, serve me; your nectar-like speech is my delight.

In the groves of banana clusters, in the charming forest ranges, that clever one enjoyed delightful love-play with the exceedingly innocent maiden.
Thus, while that unassailable one was living in those excellent forests,

Where have your three noble and beautiful wives gone?"
Everything in this world is perishable, like a city of the Gandharvas.
Thus, the king was consoled again and again with reason.
O venerable one, if you have any compassion for me, please tell me truly.
How can I, O brahmin, see my three wives upon the earth? How will I be united with them again?
Hearing his words, the brahmin spoke to the beautiful-faced one.

There, bathing in the sacred waters of the Śiprā, which swiftly grant success—
He worshipped with jewels, divine garments, and splendid ornaments.
With radiant pearls, pure streams of water, and other offerings.
