Do not grieve, O king; you are a kshatriya, steadfast in your vow.
Abandon the sorrow born of the deeds of a wicked man, O best of kings.
Neither the summit of Meru is too high, nor the netherworld too low.
In the great Kāla forest, worship the liṅga with focused mind.
Equal to a thousand bows is the power to restrain the club.
Guarded by warriors of great valor, each with the strength of a thousand bows, and by Indra, who obtained the bow by which Jambha was struck down.
Hearing those words, King Vidūratha then—
There he saw that liṅga and worshipped it with devotion.
With the power equal to a thousand bows, restraining the club, the steadfast one quickly went to the netherworld through that pit.
Then the king made a very fierce twang of the bowstring.
Hearing the twang of the bowstring, Kujambha, lord of the Dānavas—
Then a battle took place between him and the king, O beautiful-faced one.
Then, filled with rage, he rushed toward the club.
As he was about to seize the club, Mudāvatī was there.
Then, having gone forth, the lord of the Asuras fought with the club.
At that time, with the sound of the bowstring’s strike, it fell to the ground.
Then a shower of flowers fell upon that king.
And that king, having slain him, then regained his two sons and daughter.
Together with his sons, O goddess, his wishes completely fulfilled—
In the beautiful great Kāla forest, where that supreme liṅga is.
The demon Kujambha, who was a cause of enmity towards the gods, was also slain.
Those who worship with devotion the Lord of a thousand bows,
When the Lord of gods, the Lord Shiva of a thousand bows, is worshipped,
In the morning, at midday, and in the afternoon, Shiva of a thousand bows—
Just as the Ganga among holy places is protected by the best of warriors,
There, the Ganga and other holy places, and various others, are found.
The fruit has been declared for those who behold them with devotion.
O Devi, thus I have told you the power of the destroyer of sins.
Thus, in the eighty-one-thousand-verse Samhita of the glorious Skanda Mahapurana, in the fifth Avantya section, in the greatness of the eighty-four lingas, the sixty-third chapter named 'The Description of the Greatness of Dhanuḥsāhasra' is concluded.
By whose mere sight, one does not attain a birth among animals—
