भिक्षार्थं शिक्षिते तेन न प्लुतिर्न निवर्त्तनम्
For the sake of alms, as taught by him, there is neither leaping nor turning back.
अवन्तीवासपुण्येन त्रिलोचनस्य सेवया
By the merit of residing in Avantī and by service to the Three-Eyed One,
अधुना तं पतिं प्राप्य विद्याधरकुमारकम्
Now, having attained that husband, the prince among Vidyādharas,
यैरल्पमपि चावंत्या कृतं कर्म शुभावहम् त्रैलोक्येऽपि च सर्वस्मिञ्छ्रेष्ठाऽवन्तीपुरी सदा
Even a small virtuous act performed by the people of Avantī brings auspiciousness; in all the three worlds, Avantī city is always the best.
ततोऽपि लिंगमोंकारं ततोऽप्यत्र त्रिलोचनम्
Beyond that is the liṅga with the syllable 'Om', and beyond that, here, is the Three-Eyed One.
अतः सर्वप्रयत्नेनावन्त्यां पूज्यस्त्रिलोचनः
Therefore, with every effort, the Three-Eyed One is to be worshipped in Avantī.
लिंगस्वरूपमासाद्य शुभं त्रिभुवनादपि स्वमातुः पुरतश्चोक्त्वा कृतकृत्या इवाभवन्
Having attained the auspicious form of the liṅga, even more than the three worlds, and having spoken before his mother, they became as if their purpose was fulfilled.
एकदा माधवे मासि सह सार्थाः समागताः
Once, in the month of Mādhava, the merchants gathered together.
विरजस्के महाक्षेत्रे त्रिलोचनसमीपतः
In the great, spotless field, near the Three-Eyed One,
विद्याधराय ताः कन्या नागैस्तिस्रोऽपि कल्पिताः 5.2.45.
For the Vidyādhara, those three maidens were arranged by the Nāgas.
रत्नदीपैश्च नागेन्द्रः पद्मी च भुजगेश्वरः जामातरं समासाद्य शुभं परिमलालयम्
With jeweled lamps, the lord of the Nāgas and Padmī, the king of serpents, having met their son-in-law, the abode of fragrance,
अन्योऽन्यं स्वजनास्ते तु मुदा विकसितेक्षणाः
Those relatives, with joyful and blossoming eyes, looked upon one another.
त्रिलोचनस्य लिंगस्य वर्णयंतोऽपि गौरवम् भुक्त्वावन्तीं ततः प्राप्य संसेव्य च त्रिलोचनम्
Describing the greatness of the liṅga of the Three-Eyed One, after enjoying Avantī, they reached it and served the Three-Eyed One.
गायन्गीतं सुमधुरं नागीभिः सहितः कृती
Singing sweet songs, together with the Nāgīs, the accomplished one,
त्रिलोचनस्य महिमा कलौ देवेन गोपितः
The glory of the Three-Eyed One is concealed by the god in the age of Kali.
त्रिलोचनकथामेतां श्रुत्वा पापान्वितोऽप्यहो
Ah! Even one afflicted by sin, upon hearing this tale of the Three-Eyed One,
एष ते कथितो देवि प्रभावः पापनाशनः
O Devi, this power, which destroys sin, has been described to you.
यस्य दर्शनमात्रेण कुलवृद्धिर्भवेद्ध्रुवम्
By merely seeing him, the prosperity of the family certainly increases.
निशामय महा वि वीरेशाविर्भवं परम्
Listen attentively to the supreme manifestation of the great hero.
आसीदमित्रजिन्नाम राजा परपुरंजयः
There was a king named Amitrajit, conqueror of enemy cities.
यशोधनो वदान्यश्च सुधीर्ब्राह्मणदैवतः
He was renowned, generous, wise, and a protector of Brahmins and gods.
विनीतो नीतिसंपन्नः कुशलः सर्वकर्मसु
He was humble, endowed with good conduct, and skilled in all tasks.
कृतज्ञो मधुरालापः पापकर्मपराङ्मुखः
He was grateful, spoke sweetly, and turned away from sinful deeds.
रणांगणे कृतांतस्य संख्यावांश्च सदोजिरे
On the battlefield, he counted the slain and was steadfast in the assembly.
धर्मार्थ धनकोशश्च समृद्धबलवाहनः
He possessed righteousness, wealth, a treasury, and abundant forces.
स्थैर्यधैर्यसमापन्नो देशकालविचक्षणः
He was endowed with firmness and courage, discerning place and time.
वासुदेवांघ्रियुगले चेतोवृत्तिं निधाय च 5.2.46.
He fixed his mind upon the pair of feet of Vāsudeva.
अलंघ्यशासनः श्रीमान्विष्णुभक्तिपरायणः
His commands could not be transgressed; he was prosperous and devoted to Vishnu.
हरेराराधनान्युच्चैः प्रतिसौधं पदेपदे
He performed the worship of Hari loudly, at every gate and every step.
गोवृन्दगोपगोपालगोपीजनमनोहर
He delighted the cows, cowherds, gopālas, and the gopīs.
