आरोग्यं संपदश्चैव व्याधीनां शांतिरेव च पुष्टिरायुस्तथा भोगो मृतेर्हानिर्यथाक्रमम्
Health, prosperity, the pacification of diseases, nourishment, longevity, enjoyment, and the removal of death—these are obtained in due order.
वारक्रमफलं प्राहुर्देवप्रीतिपुरःसरम् अन्येषामपि देवानां पूजायाः फलदः शिवः
The fruits of the days are said to be obtained, especially by pleasing the gods; and Shiva grants the fruits of worship even of other gods.
देवानां प्रीतये पूजापञ्चधैव प्रकल्पिता तत्तन्मंत्रजपो होमो दानं चैव तपस्तथा
For the satisfaction of the gods, worship is prescribed in five ways: recitation of their respective mantras, oblation, giving, and also austerity.
स्थंडिले प्रतिमायां च ह्यग्नौ ब्राह्मणविग्रहे समाराधनमित्येवं षोडशैरुपचारकैः
On a mound of earth, in an image, in fire, or in the form of a Brahmin—worship is to be performed in these ways, with sixteen kinds of offerings.
उत्तरोत्तरवैशिष्ट्यात्पूर्वाभावे तथोत्तरम् नेत्रयोः शिरसो रोगे तथा कुष्ठस्य शांतये
If the previous is absent, the next is to be used, each being superior to the one before; for diseases of the eyes, head, and for the pacification of leprosy.
आदित्यं पूजयित्वा तु ब्राह्मणान्भोजयेत्ततः दिनं मासं तथा वर्षं वर्षत्रयमथवापि वा
After worshipping the Sun, one should feed Brahmins; then, for a day, a month, a year, or even three years.
प्रारब्धं प्रबलं चेत्स्यान्नश्येद्रोगजरादिकम् जपाद्यमिष्टदेवस्य वारादीनां फलं विदुः
Karma that has begun and is strong, such as disease and the like, is destroyed by recitation and other rites for the chosen deity; the wise know that the results of observances on days of the week arise thus.
पापशांतिर्विशेषेण ह्यादिवारे निवेदयेत् आदित्यस्यैव देवानां ब्राह्मणानां विशिष्टदम्
Especially for the pacification of sin, one should make offerings on the first day of the week to the Sun, to the gods, and to distinguished Brahmins.
सोमवारे च लक्ष्म्यादीन्संपदर्थं यजेद्बुधः आज्यान्नेन तथा विप्रान्सपत्नीकांश्च भोजयेत्
On Monday, one should worship Lakshmi and other deities for the sake of prosperity, and feed Brahmins with their wives with clarified butter and rice.
काल्यादीन्भौम वारे तु यजेद्रोगप्रशांतये माषमुद्गाढकान्नेन ब्रह्मणांश्चैव भोजयेत्
On Tuesday, one should worship deities such as Kali for the pacification of diseases, and feed Brahmins with dishes of black gram, green gram, and rice.
सौम्यवारे तथा विष्णुं दध्यन्नेन यजेद्बुधः पुत्रमित्रकलत्रादिपुष्टिर्भवति सर्वदा
On Wednesday, the wise should worship Vishnu with curd and rice; thereby, there is always increase of sons, friends, wives, and the like.
आयुष्कामो गुरोर्वारे देवानां पुष्टिसिद्धये उपवीतेन वस्त्रेण क्षीराज्येन यजेद्बुधः
Desiring long life, on Thursday, one should worship the gods for the attainment of strength, using a sacred thread, cloth, milk, and clarified butter.
भोगार्थं भृगवारे तु यजेद्देवान्समाहितः षड्रसोपेतमन्नं च दद्याद्ब्राह्मणतृप्तये
For the sake of enjoyment, on Friday, one should worship the gods with concentration, and give food containing all six tastes to satisfy the Brahmins.
स्त्रीणां च तृप्तये तद्वद्देयं वस्त्रादिकं शुभम् अपमृत्युहरे मंदे रुद्राद्रींश्च यजेद्बुधः
For the satisfaction of women, likewise, one should give auspicious items such as cloth; for the removal of untimely death, on Saturday, the wise should worship Rudra and others.
तिलहोमेन दानेन तिलान्नेन च भोजयेत् इत्थं यजेच्च विबुधानारोग्यादिफलं लभेत्
With offerings of sesame in the fire, gifts, and feeding with sesame food, one should worship the gods in this way and obtain results such as health.
देवानां नित्ययजने विशेषयजनेपि च स्नाने दाने जपे होमे ब्राह्मणानां च तर्पणे
In daily worship of the gods and in special worship, in bathing, giving, recitation, fire-offering, and in satisfying Brahmins,
तिथिनक्षत्रयोगे च तत्तद्देवप्रपूजने आदिवारादिवारेषु सर्वज्ञो जगदीश्वरः
On the conjunctions of lunar days and stars, in the worship of each respective deity, and on the days of the week, the all-knowing Lord of the universe,
ततद्रूपेण सर्वेषामारोग्यादिफलप्रदः देशकालानुसारेण तथा पात्रानुसारतः
In each form, he bestows upon all the results such as health, according to place and time, and according to the recipient.
द्रव्यश्रद्धानुसारेण तथा लोकानुसारतः तारतम्यक्रमाद्देवस्त्वारोग्यादीन्प्रयच्छति
According to the substance, faith, and custom, and according to the order of superiority, the god grants health and other benefits.
शुभादावशुभांते च जन्मर्क्षेषु गृहे गृही आरोग्यादिसमृद्ध्यर्थमादित्यादीन्ग्रहान्यजेत्
At the beginning of auspiciousness and the end of inauspiciousness, and at birth-stars in the house, the householder should worship the planets beginning with the Sun for health and prosperity.
तस्माद्वै देवयजनं सर्वाभीष्टफलप्रदम् समंत्रकं ब्राह्मणानामन्येषां चैव तांत्रिकम्

According to one's ability, it should always be performed by people, on all seven days of the week, by those who desire auspicious results.
दरिद्रस्तपसा देवान्यजेदाढ्यो धनेन हि पुनश्चैवंविधं धर्मं कुरुते श्रद्धया सह
The poor should worship the gods with austerity, the wealthy with wealth; and again, one should perform such dharma with faith.
पुनश्च भोगान्विविधान्भुक्त्वा भूमौ प्रजायते छायां जलाशयं ब्रह्मप्रतिष्ठां धर्मसंचयम्
Again, after enjoying various pleasures, one is born on earth, obtaining shade, water, establishment in Brahman, and the accumulation of merit.
सर्वं च वित्तवान्कुर्यात्सदा भोगप्रसिद्धये कालाच्च पुण्यपाकेन ज्ञानसिद्धिः प्रजायते
One who possesses wealth should always use it for the attainment of enjoyment; and in due time, through the merit of good and bad deeds, knowledge is attained.
य इमं शृणुते ऽध्यायं पठते वा नरो द्विजाः श्रवणस्योपकर्ता च देवयज्ञफलं लभेत्
O twice-born, whoever listens to or recites this chapter, or assists in its hearing, obtains the fruit of a sacrifice offered to the gods.
देशादीन्क्रमशो ब्रूहि सूत सर्वार्थवित्तम् शुद्धं गृहं समफलं देवयज्ञादिकर्मसु
O Sūta, knower of all things, tell in order about regions and the like, and about a pure house that yields equal fruit in rituals such as offerings to the gods.
ततो दशगुणं गोष्ठं जलतीरं ततो दश ततो दशगुणं बिल्वतुलस्यश्वत्थमूलकम्
After that, a cowshed is considered ten times greater; then the bank of a water body is ten times greater than that; then ten times greater is the root of a bilva, tulasi, or aśvattha tree.
ततो देवालयं विद्यात्तीर्थतीरं ततो दश ततो दशगुणं नद्यास्तीर्थनद्यास्ततो दश
After that, know a temple to be ten times greater; then the bank of a sacred ford is ten times greater; then ten times greater is the bank of a river that is itself a sacred ford.
सप्तगंगानदीतीरं तस्या दशगुणं भवेत् गंगा गोदावरी चैव कावेरी ताम्रपर्णिका
The bank of the seven Gangā rivers is ten times greater than that; these seven Gangās are Gaṅgā, Godāvarī, Kāverī, and Tāmraparṇī.
