चतुर्थावरणे शंभो पूजितश्च सहानुगैः शिवप्रियः शिवासक्तश्शिवपादार्चने रतः
In the fourth enclosure of Śambhu, worshipped together with his attendants, devoted to Śiva, attached to Śiva, and delighting in the worship of Śiva's feet—
सत्कृत्य शिवयोराज्ञां स मे दिशतु मंगलम् हिरण्यगर्भो लोकेशो विराट् कालश्च पूरुषः
Having honored the command of Śiva and Pārvatī, may he grant me auspiciousness—Hiraṇyagarbha, the lord of the worlds, Virāṭ, Kāla, and Puruṣa.
सनत्कुमारः सनकः सनंदश्च सनातनः प्रजानां पतयश्चैव दक्षाद्या ब्रह्मसूनवः
Sanatkumāra, Sanaka, Sanaṃda, and Sanātana, and the lords of creatures, beginning with Dakṣa, the sons of Brahmā—
एकादश सपत्नीका धर्मस्संकल्प एव च शिवार्चनरताश्चैते शिवभक्तिपरायणाः
The eleven with their wives, Dharma, and also Saṃkalpa, all devoted to the worship of Śiva, intent upon devotion to Śiva—
शिवाज्ञावशगास्सर्वे दिशंतु मम मंगलम् चत्वारश्च तथा वेदास्सेतिहासपुराणकाः
All are subject to the command of Śiva; may they grant me auspiciousness—the four Vedas, and likewise the authors of Itihāsa and Purāṇa—
धर्मशास्त्राणि विद्याभिर्वैदिकीभिस्समन्विताः परस्परविरुद्धार्थाः शिवप्रकृतिपादकाः
The Dharmaśāstras, endowed with Vedic knowledge, though mutually contradictory in meaning, are founded upon the nature of Śiva.
सत्कृत्य शिवयोराज्ञां मंगलं प्रदिशंतु मे अथ रुद्रो महादेवः शंभोर्मूर्तिर्गरीयसी
Having respectfully accepted Shiva's command, may auspiciousness be bestowed upon me; then Rudra, the great god, is the most exalted form of Shambhu.
वाह्नेयमण्डलाधीशः पौरुषैश्वर्यवान्प्रभुः शिवाभिमानसंपन्नो निर्गुणस्त्रिगुणात्मकः
He is the lord of the fire circle, endowed with masculine sovereignty and power, possessing Shiva's pride, without qualities yet consisting of the three qualities.
केवलं सात्त्विकश्चापि राजसश्चैव तामसः अविकाररतः पूर्वं ततस्तु समविक्रियः
He is purely sattvic, also rajasic and tamasic; formerly absorbed in changelessness, and then equally unaltered.
असाधारणकर्मा च सृष्ट्यादिकरणात्पृथक् ब्रह्मणोपि शिरश्छेत्ता जनकस्तस्य तत्सुतः
His actions are unique, distinct from the work of creation and so forth; he is the one who cut off Brahma's head, and is the progenitor, with that one as his son.
जनकस्तनयश्चापि विष्णोरपि नियामकः बोधकश्च तयोर्नित्यमनुग्रहकरः प्रभुः
He is both father and son, and also the controller of Vishnu; he is the awakener for both, always the gracious benefactor, the lord.
अंडस्यांतर्बहिर्वर्ती रुद्रो लोकद्वयाधिपः शिवप्रियः शिवासक्तः शिवपादार्चने रतः
Rudra dwells within and outside the cosmic egg, lord of both worlds, dear to Shiva, attached to Shiva, devoted to worshipping Shiva's feet.
शिवस्याज्ञां पुरस्कृत्य स मे दिशतु मंगलम् तस्य ब्रह्म षडंगानि विद्येशांतं तथाष्टकम्
Having placed Shiva's command at the forefront, may he grant me auspiciousness; his Brahma consists of six limbs, and likewise the eight ends of knowledge.
चत्वारो मूर्तिभेदाश्च शिवपूर्वाः शिवार्चकाः शिवो भवो हरश्चैव मृडश्चैव तथापरः शिवस्याज्ञां पुरस्कृत्य मंगलं प्रदिशंतु मे
There are four distinct forms, all preceded by Shiva and worshippers of Shiva: Shiva, Bhava, Hara, and Mrida as the fourth; having placed Shiva's command at the forefront, may they grant me auspiciousness.
अथ विष्णुर्महेशस्य शिवस्यैव परा तनुः वारितत्त्वाधिपः साक्षादव्यक्तपदसंस्थितः
Now Vishnu is the supreme form of Mahesha, of Shiva himself, lord of the water principle, directly established in the unmanifest state.
निर्गुणस्सत्त्वबहुलस्तथैव गुणकेवलः अविकाराभिमानी च त्रिसाधारणविक्रियः
He is without qualities, abundant in sattva, and also solely composed of qualities; he is attached to changelessness, and has three common transformations.
असाधारणकर्मा च सृष्ट्यादिकरणात्पृथक् दक्षिणांगभवेनापि स्पर्धमानः स्वयंभुवा
His actions are unique, distinct from the work of creation and so forth; with the right side as his limb, he competes with the self-born.
आद्येन ब्रह्मणा साक्षात्सृष्टः स्रष्टा च तस्य तु अंडस्यांतर्बहिर्वर्ती विष्णुर्लोकद्वयाधिपः
He was directly created by the primordial Brahma, and is the creator for him; Vishnu dwells within and outside the cosmic egg, lord of both worlds.
असुरांतकरश्चक्री शक्रस्यापि तथानुजः प्रादुर्भूतश्च दशधा भृगुशापच्छलादिह
He is the destroyer of demons, wielder of the discus, and younger brother of Shakra; he appeared in ten forms here, such as through Bhrigu's curse and others.
भूभारनिग्रहार्थाय स्वेच्छयावातरक्षितौ अप्रमेयबलो मायी मायया मोहयञ्जगत्
For the purpose of relieving the burden of the earth, he incarnates by his own will; of immeasurable strength, he is possessed of maya, and by maya he deludes the world.
मूर्तिं कृत्वा महाविष्णुं सदाशिष्णुमथापि वा वैष्णवैः पूजितो नित्यं मूर्तित्रयमयासने
Assuming the form of Mahavishnu, always bestowing blessings, he is perpetually worshipped by Vaishnavas, seated upon the triple-form seat.
शिवप्रियः शिवासक्तः शिवपादार्चने रतः शिवस्याज्ञां पुरस्कृत्य स मे दिशतु मंगलम्
He is dear to Shiva, attached to Shiva, devoted to worshipping Shiva's feet; having placed Shiva's command at the forefront, may he grant me auspiciousness.
वासुदेवो ऽनिरुद्धश्च प्रद्युम्नश्च ततः परः संकर्षणस्समाख्याताश्चतस्रो मूर्तयो हरेः
Vasudeva, Aniruddha, Pradyumna, and then Sankarshana—these four forms of Hari are thus named.
मत्स्यः कूर्मो वराहश्च नारसिंहो ऽथ वामनः रामत्रयं तथा कृष्णो विष्णुस्तुरगवक्त्रकः
Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, and Vamana; the three Ramas, Krishna, Vishnu with the horse's head.
चक्रं नारायणस्यास्त्रं पांचजन्यं च शार्ङ्गकम् सत्कृत्य शिवयोराज्ञां मंगलं प्रदिशंतु मे
May the discus, the weapon of Nārāyaṇa, the conch Pāñcajanya, and the bow Śārṅga, having duly received the command of Śiva and the Goddess, bestow auspiciousness upon me.
प्रभा सरस्वती गौरी लक्ष्मीश्च शिवभाविता शिवयोः शासनादेता मंगलं प्रदिशंतु मे
May Prabhā, Sarasvatī, Gaurī, and Lakṣmī, devoted to Śiva, by the order of Śiva and the Goddess, grant me auspiciousness.
इन्द्रो ऽग्निश्च यमश्चैव निरृतिर्वरुणस्तथा वायुः सोमः कुबेरश्च तथेशानस्त्रिशूलधृक्
Indra, Agni, Yama, Nirṛti, Varuṇa, Vāyu, Soma, Kubera, and Īśāna, the trident-bearer—
सर्वे शिवार्चनरताः शिवसद्भावभाविताः सत्कृत्य शिवयोराज्ञां मंगलं प्रदिशंतु मे
All these, devoted to the worship of Śiva and filled with the true essence of Śiva, having duly received the command of Śiva and the Goddess, may they bestow auspiciousness upon me.
त्रिशूलमथ वज्रं च तथा परशुसायकौ खड्गपाशांकुशाश्चैव पिनाकश्चायुधोत्तमः
The trident, the thunderbolt, the axe, the arrows, the sword, the noose, the goad, and also Pināka, the supreme weapon—
दिव्यायुधानि देवस्य देव्याश्चैतानि नित्यशः सत्कृत्य शिवयोराज्ञां रक्षां कुर्वंतु मे सदा
These divine weapons of the Lord and the Goddess, always, having duly received the command of Śiva and the Goddess, may they ever protect me.
