The Rudras who support the Brahmanda are established in the ten directions; whatever is Gauda, whatever is Maimeya, and whatever is Shakta, beyond that.
Whatever exists as the meaning of speech, whether conscious or unconscious, all of it, having understood in general, should be worshipped at the side of Shiva.
All, with hands joined in reverence, with smiling faces, ever gaze with affection upon the Lord and the Goddess.
Thus, having performed the worship of the coverings for the sake of calming distraction, one should again worship the Lord of gods and recite the imperishable syllable.
Then, one should offer to Shiva and his consort a great oblation, pure and beautiful, like nectar, well-prepared and adorned with fine ingredients.
The chief offering is prepared with thirty-two measures, the lesser with fewer; having prepared them according to one's means and with faith, one should offer them.
After that, one should offer water for rinsing, betel with condiments, perform waving of lights and other rites, and thus complete the remaining acts of worship.
One should prepare only the finest substances suitable for enjoyment; a devotee with means should not act with miserliness or deceit.
It is said among the virtuous that for one who is deceitful, neglectful, or performs the rites with duplicity, the desired actions do not bear fruit.
Therefore, abandoning all forms of neglect and engaging fully, one should perform the desired rites if one wishes for the attainment of their results.
Thus, having completed the worship, bowing with devotion to the Lord and the Goddess, and steadying the mind, one should then recite the hymn.
Then, at the end of the hymn, one should recite the five-syllabled mantra a thousand and eight times with eagerness.
Having worshipped the mantra and the teacher, one should then, in due order, worship the assembly members as appropriate and according to one's faith.
After respectfully bidding farewell to the Lord of gods along with all the coverings, one should give the maṇḍala and the ritual implements to the teacher.
Or, one may give everything in proper order to those devoted to Shiva, or else dedicate it all to Shiva alone in the sacred place of Shiva.
Or, one may worship the Lord in the fire of Shiva with seven offerings, properly honoring all the deities of the coverings as prescribed.
This is known as the Lord of Yoga, renowned in the three worlds; there is no greater sacrifice than this anywhere on earth.
There is nothing in this world that cannot be accomplished by this; whether the result is worldly or otherworldly, it can be attained.
It is not restricted by saying, 'This is its result, that is not'; for all that is of the nature of supreme good, this is the best means.
This cannot be described by a person—what is worshipped here, like a wish-fulfilling gem, yields results accordingly.
Even so, one should not employ this for a small result; for if one aims at something minor, one becomes lesser than what is great.
Whether the result is great or small, if the act is performed, it succeeds; let actions be undertaken with Mahadeva as their aim.
Therefore, for results unattainable otherwise—such as victory over enemies or conquering death, whether visible or invisible—the wise should perform this.
Even in great calamities—such as intense passion, fear, famine, and so forth—one should perform this rite for the purpose of peace.
What need is there for much talk? This is the weapon taught by Maheshvara to the Shaivas for averting great afflictions.
Therefore, beyond this, there is no other protection for oneself here; thinking thus, whoever performs this action attains auspiciousness.
Whoever, purified and focused, recites only the hymn, even for the most desired purpose, attains one-eighth of the result.
Reciting it with intent for the purpose, fasting on festival days, or on the eighth or fourteenth lunar day, one attains half the result.
Whoever, intent on the purpose, observes a vow during festival days and recites the hymn for one month, attains the full result.
I will declare to you the hymn, O Krishna, according to the path of the five coverings; this sacred act, by which yoga is accomplished.
