पञ्चावरणसंयुक्तं बहुशोभासमन्वितम् दलेषु सिद्धयः कल्प्याः केसरेषु सशक्तिकाः
It should be furnished with five enclosures, adorned with great beauty; in the petals, the perfections are to be placed, and in the filaments, the powers.
रुद्रा वामादयस्त्वष्टौ पूर्वादिदलतः क्रमात् कर्णिकायां च वैराग्यं बीजेषु नव शक्तयः
The eight Rudras, beginning with Vama, are to be placed in order from the eastern petal; in the pericarp, detachment; in the seeds, the nine powers.
स्कन्दे शिवात्मको धर्मो नाले ज्ञानं शिवाश्रयम् कर्णिकोपरि चाग्नेयं मंडलं सौरमैन्दवम्
On the stalk, the dharma whose essence is Shiva; in the stem, knowledge resting on Shiva; above the pericarp, the circles of fire, sun, and moon.
शिवविद्यात्मतत्त्वाख्यं तत्त्वत्रयमतः परम् सर्वासनोपरि सुखं विचित्रकुसुमान्वितम्
Above these, the three principles called the essence of Shiva, knowledge, and reality; above all seats, comfortably adorned with various flowers.
पञ्चावरणसंयुक्तं पूजयेदंबया सह शुद्धस्फटिकसंकाशं प्रसन्नं शीतलद्युतिम्
With five enclosures, let one worship together with Ambika, pure as crystal, serene, and shining with a cool radiance.
विद्युद्वलयसंकाशजटामुकुटभूषितम् शार्दूलचर्मवसनं किञ्चित्स्मितमुखांबुजम्
Adorned with a crown of matted hair like a circle of lightning, clothed in tiger skin, with a face like a lotus just touched by a smile.
रक्तपद्मदलप्रख्यपादपाणितलाधरम् सर्वलक्षणसंपन्नं सर्वाभरणभूषितम्
With feet, hands, and lips resembling red lotus petals, endowed with all auspicious marks, adorned with every ornament.
दिव्यायुधवरैर्युक्तं दिव्यगंधानुलेपनम् पञ्चवक्त्रं दशभुजं चन्द्रखण्डशिखामणिम्
Equipped with divine weapons, anointed with divine fragrances, five-faced, ten-armed, crowned with a crescent moon jewel.
अस्य पूर्वमुखं सौम्यं बालार्कसदृशप्रभम् त्रिलोचनारविंदाढ्यं कृतबालेंदुशेखरम्
His eastern face is gentle, radiant like the rising sun, adorned with three lotus-like eyes, and crowned with a young crescent moon.
दक्षिणं नीलजीमूतसमानरुचिरप्रभम् भ्रुकुटीकुटिलं घोरं रक्तवृत्तेक्षणत्रयम्
His southern face shines with the brilliance of a dark raincloud, fierce with furrowed brows, and three eyes encircled with red.
दंष्ट्राकरालं दुर्धर्षं स्फुरिताधरपल्लवम् उत्तरं विद्रुमप्रख्यं नीलालकविभूषितम्
With protruding fangs, formidable, lips quivering, his northern face is like coral, adorned with dark locks of hair.
सविलासं त्रिनयनं चन्द्राभरणशेखरम् पश्चिमं पूर्णचन्द्राभं लोचनत्रितयोज्ज्वलम्
Playful, three-eyed, crowned with a crescent moon ornament, his western face is full like the moon, with three shining eyes.
चन्द्ररेखाधरं सौम्यं मंदस्मितमनोहरम् पञ्चमं स्फटिकप्रख्यमिंदुरेखासमुज्ज्वलम्
With a crescent moon adorning his lips, gentle and captivating with a soft smile, the fifth one shines like crystal, radiant with the brilliance of the lunar line.
अतीव सौम्यमुत्फुल्ललोचनत्रितयोज्ज्वलम् दक्षिणे शूलपरशुवज्रखड्गानलोज्ज्वलम्
He is exceedingly gentle, his three blossoming eyes shining; on his right, he holds a trident, axe, thunderbolt, and sword, all blazing with fire.
सव्ये च नागनाराचघण्टापाशांकुशोज्ज्वलम् निवृत्त्याजानुसंबद्धमानाभेश्च प्रतिष्ठया
On his left, he is resplendent with a serpent, arrow, bell, noose, and goad; his form is bound from the knees by the power of restraint and established by the measure of honor.
आकंठं विद्यया तद्वदाललाटं तु शांतया तदूर्ध्वं शांत्यतीताख्यकलया परया तथा
Up to his neck, he is enveloped by knowledge; likewise, his forehead is adorned with peace, and above that, with the supreme energy known as transcending peace.
पञ्चाध्वव्यापिनं साक्षात्कलापञ्चकविग्रहम् ईशानमुकुटं देवं पुरुषाख्यं पुरातनम्
He pervades the five paths, manifest as the embodiment of the five energies, the ancient Lord called Puruṣa, crowned as Īśāna.
अघोरहृदयं तद्वद्वामगुह्यं महेश्वरम् सद्यपादं च तन्मूर्तिमष्टत्रिंशत्कलामयम्
His heart is Aghora, his left secret part is Maheśvara, his foot is Sadya, and his form is composed of thirty-eight energies.
मातृकामयमीशानं पञ्चब्रह्ममयं तथा ओंकाराख्यमयं चैव हंसशक्त्या समन्वितम्
Īśāna is composed of the mothers, of the five Brahmas, and of the syllable Oṃ, united with the power of the Swan.
तथेच्छात्मिकया शक्त्या समारूढांकमंडलम् ज्ञानाख्यया दक्षिणतो वामतश्च क्रियाख्यया
Thus, mounted upon the circle with the power of will, with the power of knowledge on the right and the power of action on the left.
तत्त्वत्रयमयं साक्षाद्विद्यामूर्तिं सदाशिवम् मूर्तिमूलेन संकल्प्य सकलीकृत्य च क्रमात्
Sadāśiva, the embodiment of knowledge, is directly composed of the three principles; one should conceive the form from the root, making it complete in order.
संपूज्य च यथान्यायमर्घान्तं मूलविद्यया मूर्तिमन्तं शिवं साक्षाच्छक्त्या परमया सह
Having worshipped properly up to the offering of water, with the root mantra, one should worship Shiva with form, together with the supreme power.
तत्रावाह्य महादेवं सदसद्व्यक्तिवर्जितम् पञ्चोपकरणं कृत्वा पूजयेत्परमेश्वरम्
There, having invoked the great Lord, who is free from the distinctions of existence and non-existence, and having prepared five offerings, one should worship the Supreme Lord.
ब्रह्मभिश्च षडङ्गैश्च ततो मातृकया सह प्रणवेन शिवेनैव शक्तियुक्तेन च क्रमात्
Then, with the Brahma mantras and the six limbs, together with the mothers, with the sacred syllable, with Shiva himself, and in order, endowed with power.
शांतेन वा तथान्यैश्च वेदमन्त्रैश्च कृत्स्नशः पूजयेत्परमं देवं केवलेन शिवेन वा
Or with the peaceful mantra, and likewise with other Vedic mantras in their entirety, one should worship the Supreme God, or with Shiva alone.
पाद्यादिमुखवासांतं कृत्वा प्रस्थापनं विना पञ्चावरणपूजां तु ह्यारभेत यथाक्रमम्
Having performed up to the offering of water, mouth-rinse, and scents, without the act of dismissal, one should begin the worship of the five enclosures in due order.
तत्रादौ शिवयोः पार्श्वे दक्षिणे वामतः क्रमात् गंधाद्यैरर्चयेत्पूर्वं देवौ हेरंबषण्मुखौ
There, first, on the right and left sides of Shiva, in order, one should worship the two deities, Heramba and Ṣaṇmukha, with scents and other offerings.
ततो ब्रह्माणि परित ईशानादि यथाक्रमम् सशक्तिकानि सद्यांतं प्रथमावरणे यजेत्
Then, all around, one should worship the Brahmas, beginning with Īśāna, in order, along with their powers, up to Sadya, in the first enclosure.
षडंगान्यपि तत्रैव हृदयादीन्यनुक्रमात् शिवस्य च शिवायाश्च वाह्नेयादि समर्चयेत्
There also, the six limbs, beginning with the heart, should be worshipped in sequence, and for Shiva and Śivā, the vehicles beginning with the fire should be honored.
तत्र वामादिकान्रुद्रानष्टौ वामादिशक्तिभिः अर्चयेद्वा न वा पश्चात्पूर्वादिपरितः क्रमात्
There, the Rudras beginning with Vāma, eight in number, should be worshipped with the powers beginning with Vāma; or not, but afterwards, all around, beginning from the east, in order.
