Thus, having informed Shiva, together with the disciple, bowing again, the teacher should worship the divine Shiva scripture as Shiva himself.
Again, having sought Shiva's permission, the teacher should give the book of Shiva knowledge to the disciple with both hands.
He should place that knowledge upon his head, seat himself properly for study, and, after offering due reverence, worship it.
Then the teacher should give him the royal insignia, for having attained the status of teacher, he is worthy of the kingdom as well.
Next, he should instruct according to the practices of the ancients, as taught in the scriptures of Shiva, and as is honored among people.
Having carefully examined the students by the characteristics prescribed in the scriptures of Shiva, and having sanctified them, the teacher should impart to them the knowledge of Shiva.
In this way, he should diligently cultivate purity, forbearance, compassion, non-attachment, and absence of envy, all without difficulty.
Having thus instructed the student, he should dismiss him from the circle with the sign of Shiva, and also worship the assembly members such as the Shiva-pot and the fire.
Then, the teacher together with his group should perform the consecrations simultaneously, wherever the dual or both applications are prescribed.
At the beginning, he should prepare the water vessels as for the purification of the path, and, having performed the vow of consecration, do all except the anointing.

Alternatively, considering the consecration of the mantra in its entirety, the teacher should perform the purification of the path at the conclusion of the anointing.
There, whatever rite is prescribed for the stages beginning with Śānti and beyond, all of that should be performed for the purification of the three principles.
The three principles are declared to be called the essence of Shiva, knowledge, and self; from Shakti comes Shiva, from him knowledge, and from that the self arises.
By Shiva, the path beyond Śānti is pervaded, and that which is beyond is supreme; by knowledge, the remaining path is pervaded, and by the self, all in order.
Those wise in the meaning of Shiva's scriptures, considering the Śāmbhava mantra as rare and fundamental, should declare the Śākta consecration.
Thus, O Krishna, all has been explained to you regarding the rite called consecration and its fourfold nature; what more do you wish to hear?
O Lord, I wish to hear about the daily and occasional rites prescribed in the scriptures of Shiva for those devoted to the ashram of Shiva.

Placing the bathing materials on the riverbank, removing external impurities, and applying clay to the body, one should bathe and then smear oneself with cow dung.
Having bathed, one should again and again discard the cloth, cleanse oneself, and, being thoroughly bathed, wear clean garments as a king would.

A celibate, an ascetic, or a widow should not bathe with scented substances, nor perform fragrant baths or clean the teeth with such items.
Wearing the sacred thread and with the hair tuft tied, one should enter the water, immerse oneself, perform proper ācamana, and establish the three circles in the water.
Immersed in clear water, one should again recite the mantra with effort, remember Śiva, and, after rising and performing ācamana, anoint oneself with that same water.
With a cow's horn, a darbha grass stalk, a palāśa leaf, a lotus, or with the hands, one should perform the ablution either five times or three times.
Whether in a garden, at home, or with a water pot, at the time of immersion one should perform the ablution with water that has been consecrated by mantras.
