By the words of these two and of us, O auspicious-faced one, no disrespect to you is intended, beloved of Brahma.
Requested by us, O goddess, go there joyfully. Gauri said: I am always your dear one, O goddess, as you yourself say.
Lakshmi is placed in your hand, and I have held her in your right. Come, O greatly fortunate one, to where your husband is waiting.
Then she was led by those two, the goddess positioned in the center, with Vishnu and Rudra at the front, and Indra and the other gods as well.
The Gandharvas and Apsaras, and all beings of the three worlds, both moving and unmoving, came there; and the goddess Savitri, beloved of Brahma, arrived.
Seeing Savitri, whose face was beautiful, the grandfather of all worlds, Brahma, together with Gayatri, spoke these words.
This goddess is a performer of deeds; I am now under your control. Command me, O beautiful one, whatever work you wish me to do here.
Thus addressed by the god Brahma himself, the goddess, her face lowered in modesty, said nothing.
Gayatri, prompted by Brahma, fell at the feet of the goddess and said: 'I have committed an offense against you; forgive me, O goddess, I bow to you.'
Embracing her affectionately around the neck, she comforted the distressed Gayatri, saying: 'He is my honored husband.'
The husband's word must be obeyed; he is the lord of life for women. This was declared by the blessed Virinchi at the time of creation.
There is no separate sacrifice, vow, or fasting for women; whatever the husband says, she should do without disdain.
A woman who reviles her husband, or likewise her sister, or indulges in slander or idle talk, goes to hell.
If a woman undertakes fasting or vows while her husband is alive, she diminishes his lifespan; if he dies, she desires hell.
Knowing this, you must not do anything displeasing to your husband, O virtuous one; nor should you ever serve his right side.
In all matters, I myself have taken the right side of him; you, O virtuous one, should approach the left side, along with Narada and Pushkara.
Other seats of Brahma and sacred places are established; you will obtain beauty here as long as creation continues.
Both you and I must remain, without doubt, at the side of Brahma in Pushkara; you should take the left side.
By this instruction, remain happily with me. Gayatri said: 'I will do exactly as you direct.'
Your command must be followed by me; you are my friend equal to my life. I am your younger, O goddess; you should always protect me.
Then Brahmā, the god of gods, together with Viṣṇu at Puṣkara, at the conclusion of their bath, granted boons to all the gods.
He made Indra the lord of the gods, the Sun the lord of the luminaries, Soma the lord of the stars, and Varuṇa the lord of the waters.
He appointed Dakṣa as lord of the progenitors, the Ocean as lord of the rivers, Kubera as lord of wealth, and likewise made Cakra lord of the Rākṣasas.
He made Pinākin the lord of all beings and hosts, Manu the lord of men, and Garuḍa the lord of birds.
He made Vasiṣṭha the foremost among sages, the Sun the chief among planets; thus, having bestowed such positions, the god of gods, the Grandfather, continued.
Brahmā then respectfully addressed Viṣṇu and Śaṃkara: 'Among all the holy places on earth, you two are the most worthy of worship.'
'Without you both, no sacred place ever attains holiness; wherever a liṅga or image is seen, there that place becomes holy.'
'That place attains sanctity and grants all rewards; and those men who worship with offerings will be blessed.'
'Having honored you both before me, why should they fear disease or danger? In those lands where your festivals and worship are performed,'
'All such rites will be established; hear now the fruits in those places: there will be no sorrow, no disease, no calamity, nor fear of hunger.'
