To obtain their price, you wandered through the entire city, but there was no buyer for the lotuses; exhausted and greatly afflicted by hunger, you were left with nothing.

You sat with your wife in the courtyard of a house; then, at night, you heard auspicious sounds there.
With your wife, you went to the place where those auspicious sounds were; there, in the center of the circle, you saw the image of Viṣṇu.
A courtesan named Aṃgavatī was observing the vow of the twelfth day; having completed it on the twelfth day of the month of Māgha, she went to Lavaṇācala.
She offered to her teacher a bed adorned with furnishings; having decorated Hṛṣīkeśa with gold, she did so with great reverence.
She was seen by those two, and they considered: 'What is the use of these lotuses? It is better that Viṣṇu is adorned.'
Thus, devotion arose in the couple, O king; because of that, they worshipped Keśava at Lavaṇācala.
The bed was worshipped everywhere with heaps of flowers; then Aṃgavatī, pleased with them, gave three hundred measures of grain.
Then, three vessels of well-cleaned metal were ordered to be given; but those two did not accept them, out of their reliance on great virtue.
Again, by Anangavati, four kinds of food were brought for them, and she said, 'Let the food be eaten,' O King.
But they too refused that, saying, 'We shall eat tomorrow, O beautiful-faced one; let us fast today in your company, which brings auspiciousness.'
'From birth, O goddess, we two are most sinful, though firm in our vows; by your association, let even a trace of righteousness not remain in your house.'
Thus, because of her, they kept vigil that night; and at dawn, she gave them a bed with salt and a mountain (of food).
A village was given to the teacher with devotion, and twelve villages to the Brahmins; cows adorned with gold and garments and ornaments as well.
Food was shared with friends, companions, the poor, the blind, and the destitute; and after honoring that greedy couple, they were dismissed.
That hunter, together with his wife, became you, O king of men, because of the worship of Keshava with heaps of lotuses.
All your sins were destroyed by the worship at the temple of Pushkara; O king, by the power of truth and the austerity of non-greed.
The Lord of the worlds, the four-faced one, being pleased, granted you a vehicle that goes wherever desired; therefore, O king, take refuge in Pushkara.
Having attained steadfastness for a kalpa and observing the vow of Dvadashi with prosperity, O king, you will surely attain liberation.
Having said this, the sage disappeared right there; and the king, as instructed, again performed the worship of Pushpavahana.
O king, by practicing this, the vow remains unbroken; somehow, over time, twelve Dvadashis should be observed.
According to ability, gifts should be given to the gods and Brahmins, O king; in the best case, cows should be given, in the middle, land, and in the lowest, gold.
In the least case, gold should be given—this is considered the proper gift; the first is for Brahma, the second for Vishnu.
The third is for Rudra; the three gods are established in these three. Thus, whoever recites or hears this with devotion destroys the sins of people.
He attains wisdom and dwells in the world of the gods for as many years as there are hairs on the body. Now, I shall declare the supreme vow among vows.
It was told by Rudra himself, the destroyer of great sins: after observing the vow of night-fasting for a year, half the merit of giving a cow accrues to a householder.
One should give a golden discus and trident, along with garments, to a Brahmin; whoever performs this meritorious act rejoices in the world of Shiva.
This very vow is called the destroyer of great sins; whoever, with single-minded devotion, gives a cow accompanied by a bull.
Whoever gives a cow made of sesame seeds attains the abode of Shiva; this is called the Rudra vow, which removes fear and sorrow.
And whoever, at the end of the year, gives a blue lotus made of gold, together with a vessel of sugar, and a bull, while observing alternate-day fasting at night—
