For eleven thousand years, you will again dwell in heaven; your fame will be vast in the world, along with the affection of the people.
Their worlds, called Sāntānika, will remain established; by you, O god, men will be delivered in the form of Rāma.
Then Gāyatrī spoke to Rudra, the granter of boons: 'Even when your liṅga has fallen, those men who worship it—
—they are purified, performers of virtuous deeds, and become partakers in the world of heaven; that state is not attained by Agnihotra or by sacrifice into the sacrificial fire.
The state which men attain by worshipping your liṅga, that state is not reached otherwise; those who always worship your liṅga on the bank of the Gaṅgā with bilva leaves—
—those who worship in the early morning become partakers in Rudra's world; and having attained devotion to Śarva, O Agni, you become pure.
When you are pleased, all the gods are indeed pleased—there is no doubt of this; through you, the gods are satisfied by the offering, and when you are pleased, they are surely pleased.
They partake of the oblation—there is no doubt—just as the Vedic statement declares; Gāyatrī spoke this to the brāhmaṇas and to all of them.
Having pleased you, O brāhmaṇas, men at all holy places will all attain the realm called Vairāja—of this there is no doubt.
By giving various kinds of food and many gifts, and by pleasing you at śrāddha rites, they become like the gods of gods.
And those best of brāhmaṇas—among them, the gods in heaven quickly partake of the oblation, and the ancestors also partake of the ancestral offering.
You are indeed capable of upholding the three worlds—there is no doubt; and by a single act of breath-control, you will all become purified.
Especially by bathing at Puṣkara and reciting me, the mother of the Vedas, you best of twice-born will not incur the faults arising from accepting gifts.
At Puṣkara, by giving food, all the deities become pleased; by feeding even one brāhmaṇa, one attains the fruit of feeding a crore.
All men, by giving wealth into your hands, will destroy sins such as brahmahatyā and other misdeeds committed.
By reciting my mantra, and by three acts of worship, the sin equal to brahmahatyā is destroyed at that very moment.
Sin accumulated over ten births, or committed a hundred times in the past, or over three yugas and a thousand years—Gāyatrī destroys all that sin.
Knowing thus, you will always be purified by reciting my japa—there is no doubt of this, nor is there any need for deliberation.
By reciting the praṇava with its three measures, especially together with me, all are purified—there is no doubt—by reciting me along with the head.
I am established in the eight-syllabled mantra, and this world is pervaded by me; I am the mother of all the Vedas, adorned with all their words.
Having recited me with devotion, the foremost of twice-born will attain success; by my recitation, you all will have preeminence among all.
Even a self-restrained Brahmin who knows only the essence of the Gāyatrī is superior to an unrestrained knower of the four Vedas who eats everything and sells everything.
Because among Brahmins, a curse was given through Sāvitrī, whatever is given or offered here becomes inexhaustible in its effect.
Therefore, I have granted this boon to you, O best of twice-born: Brahmins devoted to Agnihotra, who give offerings at the three times.
They will go to heaven along with twenty-one generations of their lineage; in this way, as with Indra, Viṣṇu, Rudra, and Agni.
The supreme boon of Gāyatrī was given by Brahmā to the Brahmins; having given it at that Puṣkara, she became one who stands by Brahmā's side.
At that time, the reason for Lakṣmī's curse was told by the celestial bards; and the curses of all young women were also separately recounted.
And Gāyatrī, beloved of Brahmā, gave a boon to Lakṣmī: always making all who are not reviled beautiful and wealthy.
You will shine, without doubt, bringing joy to all; all those whom you look upon, O daughter, will partake of merit.
But those whom you abandon will all partake of suffering; their lineage, family, conduct, and dharma, O beautiful-faced one—
