इलः किंपुरुषत्वे च सुद्युम्न इति चोच्यते। पुनः पुत्रत्रयमभूत्सुद्युम्नस्यापराजितम्
Ilā, in the state of Kiṃpuruṣa, is also called Sudyumna; again, Sudyumna had three sons, all unconquered.
उत्कलोथ गयस्तद्वद्धरिताश्वश्च वीर्यवान्। उत्कलस्योत्कला नाम गयस्य तु गयापुरी
Utkala, then Gaya, and likewise the mighty Haritāśva; Utkalā is the name of Utkala's land, and Gayāpurī is Gaya's city.
हरिताश्वस्य दिग्याम्या संज्ञाता कुरुभिः सह। प्रतिष्ठानेभिषिच्याथ स पुरूरवसं सुतम्
Haritāśva's region to the south is known together with the Kurus; after installing his son, Purūravas, in the city, he established him.
जगामेलावृतं भोक्तुं दिव्यं वर्षं फलाशनः। इक्ष्वाकुर्ज्येष्ठदायादो मध्यदेशमवाप्तवान्
He went to enjoy Ilāvṛta, the divine land, living on fruits; Ikṣvāku's eldest heir obtained the Madhyadeśa.
नरिष्यंतस्य पुत्रोभूच्छुको नाम महाबलः। नाभागादंबरीषस्तु धृष्टस्य तु सुतत्रयम्
Nariṣyanta's son was named Śuka, of great strength; Nābhāga and Ambarīṣa were the sons of Dhṛṣṭa, who had three sons.
धृष्टकेतुः स्वधर्माथो रणधृष्टश्च वीर्यवान्। आनर्तो नाम शर्यातेः सुकन्या चैव दारिका
Dhṛṣṭaketu, steadfast in his own duty, and Raṇadhṛṣṭa, mighty; Ānarta was the son of Śaryāti, and Sukanyā was his daughter.
आनर्तस्याभवत्पुत्रो रोचमानः प्रतापवान्। आनर्तो नाम देशोभून्नगरी च कुशस्थली
Ānarta's son was Rocamāna, full of splendor; Ānarta became the name of the land, and Kuśasthalī the city.
रोचमानस्य रेवोभूद्रेवाद्रैवत एव च। ककुद्मी चापरं नाम ज्येष्ठः पुत्रशतस्य च
Rocamāna's son was Reva, and from Reva came Raivata; Kakudmī was another, the eldest of a hundred sons.
रेवती तस्य सा कन्या भार्या रामस्य विश्रुता। करूषाच्चैव कारूषा बहवः प्रथिता भुवि
His daughter was Revatī, renowned as the wife of Rāma; and from Karūṣa came many famous Kārūṣas on earth.
पृषध्रो गोवधाच्छूद्रो गुरुशापादजायत। इक्ष्वाकुपुत्रा नाम्नाथ विकुक्षि निमिदंडकाः
Pṛṣadhra, because of killing a cow, became a Śūdra by his teacher's curse; and the sons of Ikṣvāku were named Vikukṣi, Nimi, and Daṇḍaka.
श्रेष्ठाः पुत्रशतस्यासन्पंचाशच्चाथ तत्सुताः। मेरोरुत्तरतस्ते तु जाताः पार्थिवसत्तमाः
Of the hundred sons, fifty were the foremost; their sons too were born to the north of Meru, excellent among kings.
चत्वारिंशत्तथाष्टान्ये शतमध्ये च येभवन्। मेरोर्दक्षिणतश्चैव राजानस्ते प्रकीर्तिताः
And forty-eight others among the hundred were known as kings born to the south of Meru.
ज्येष्ठात्ककुत्स्थनामाभूत्सुतस्तस्य सुयोधनः। तस्य पुत्रः पृथृर्नाम विश्वस्तस्य पृथोः सुतः
From the eldest was born a son named Kakutstha, whose son was Suyodhana; his son was Prithu, the son of Vishvasta's Prithu.
आर्द्रस्तस्य च पुत्रोभूद्युवनाश्वस्ततोभवत्। युवनाश्वस्य पुत्रोभूच्छावस्तो नाम वीर्यवान्
Ardras was his son, and from him came Yuvanashva; Yuvanashva's son was Shavasta, renowned for his strength.
निर्मिता येन शावस्ती ह्यंगदेशे नराधिप। शावस्ताद्बृहदश्वो भूत्कुवलाश्वस्ततोभवत्
He, the lord of men, founded Shravasti in the land of Anga; from Shravasta came Brihadashva, and from him Kuvalashva.
धुंधुमारत्वमगमद्धुंधुं हत्वाऽसुरं पुरा। तस्य पुत्रास्त्रयो जाता दृढाश्वो घृणिरेव च
He attained the name Dhundhumara, having once slain the demon Dhundhu; three sons were born to him: Dridashva and also Ghrini.
कपिलाश्वश्च विख्यातो धौंधुमारिः प्रतापवान्। दृढाश्वस्य प्रमोदस्तु हर्यश्वस्तस्य चात्मजः
And Kapilashva, famed and mighty, was also the son of Dhundhumara; Dridashva's son was Pramoda, and Haryashva was his son.
हर्यश्वस्य निकुंभोभूत्संहताश्वस्ततोभवत्। अकृताश्वो रणाश्वश्च संहताश्व सुतावुभौ
Haryashva's son was Nikumbha, and from him came Samhatashva; Samhatashva had two sons, Akritashva and Ranashva.
युवनाश्वो रणाश्वस्य मांधाता च ततोभवत्। मांधातुः पुरुकुत्सोभूद्धर्मसेतुश्च पार्थिवः
Yuvanashva was the son of Ranashva, and from him was born Mandhata; Mandhata's sons were Purukutsa and Dharmasetu, the king.
मुचुकुन्दश्च विख्यातश्शक्रमित्रः प्रतापवान्। पुरुकुत्सस्य पुत्रोभूद्दुस्सहो नर्मदापतिः
And there was the renowned Muchukunda, mighty friend of Indra; Purukutsa's son was Dussaha, lord of the Narmada.
संभूतिस्तस्य पुत्रोभूत्त्रिधन्वा च ततोभवत्। त्रिधन्वनः सुतो जातस्त्रय्यारुण इति स्मृतः
His son was Sambhuti, and from him came Tridhanvan; Tridhanvan's son was born, known as Trayyaruna.
तस्य सत्यव्रतो नाम तस्मात्सत्यरथः स्मृतः। तस्य पुत्रो हरिश्चन्द्रो हरिश्चंद्राच्च रोहितः
His son was named Satyavrata, and from him came Satyaratha; his son was Harishchandra, and from Harishchandra came Rohita.
रोहताच्च वृको जातो वृकाद्बाहुरजायत। सगरस्तस्य पुत्रोभूद्राजा परमधार्मिकः
From Rohita was born Vrka, and from Vrka came Bahu; Sagara, a supremely righteous king, was Bahu's son.
द्वे भार्ये सगरस्यापि प्रभा भानुमती तथा। ताभ्यामाराधितः पूर्वमौर्वाग्निः पुत्रकाम्यया
Sagara too had two wives, Prabha and Bhanumati; both worshipped the sage Aurva with desire for sons.
और्वस्तुष्टस्तयोः प्रादाद्यथेष्टं वरमुत्तमम्। एका षष्टिसहस्राणि सुतमेकं तथापरा
Aurva, being pleased, granted them each a supreme boon as they wished: one bore sixty thousand sons, the other a single son.
अगृह्णाद्वंशकर्तारं प्रभाऽगृह्णाद्बहून्सुतान्। एकं भानुमती पुत्रमगृह्णादसमंजसं
One, Prabha, accepted the progenitor of the line; Bhanumati accepted many sons, and she bore a son named Asamanjasa.
ततः षष्टिसहस्राणि सुषुवे यादवी प्रभा। खनंतः पृथिवीं दग्धा विष्णुना ये ऽश्वमार्गणे
Then Prabha, of the Yadava line, gave birth to sixty thousand sons, who, digging the earth in search of the horse, were burned by Vishnu.
असमंजस्तु तनयो ह्यंशुमान्नाम विश्रुतः। तस्य पुत्रो दिलीपस्तु दिलीपात्तु भगीरथः
Asamanjasa's son was the famed Amshuman; his son was Dilipa, and from Dilipa came Bhagiratha.
येन भागीरथी गङ्गा तपः कृत्वावतारिता। भगीरथस्य तनयो नाभाग इति विश्रुतः१५० 1.8.
He by whose austerity the Bhagirathi Ganga was brought down, the son of Bhagiratha, is renowned as Nabhaga.
नाभागस्यांबरीषोभूत्सिंधुद्वीपस्ततोभवत्। तस्यायुतायुः पुत्रोभूदृतुपर्णस्ततोभवत्
From Nabhaga was born Ambarisha, then Sindhudvipa came from him; his son was Ayutayu, and from him was born Rituparna.
