विष्णुभक्तो विशेषेण रोगग्रहविषार्दिते । विषार्त्तानां रोगिणां च कुर्याच्छांतिमिमां शुभाम्
A devotee of Vishnu, especially when afflicted by disease, possession, or poison, should perform this auspicious rite of appeasement for those suffering from poison or illness.
जायते तेन भो विप्र सर्वरोगप्रणाशनम् । ॐनमः श्रीपरमार्थाय पुरुषाय महात्मने
By this, O Brahmin, all diseases are destroyed; Om, obeisance to the Supreme Truth, to the Great Soul, the Person.
अरूपबहुरूपाय व्यापिने परमात्मने । वाराहं नारसिंहं च वामनं च सुखप्रदम्
To the formless, to the one of many forms, to the all-pervading Supreme Self; to Varaha, Narasimha, and Vamana, the bestowers of happiness.
ध्यात्वा कृत्वा नमो विष्णोर्नामान्यंगेषु विन्यसेत् । निष्कल्मषाय शुद्धाय व्याधिपापहराय वै
Meditating thus, having offered obeisance, one should place the names of Vishnu upon the limbs; to the stainless, the pure, the remover of disease and sin.
गोविंदपद्मनाभाय वासुदेवाय भूभृते । नमस्कृत्वा प्रवक्ष्यामि यत्तत्सिध्यतु मे वचः
To Govinda, Padmanabha, Vasudeva, the supporter of the earth, I bow; having offered obeisance, I will speak—may my words be fulfilled.
त्रिविक्रमाय रामाय वैकुंठाय नराय च । श्रीवाराहनृसिंहाय वामनाय महात्मने
To Trivikrama, Rama, Vaikuntha, and also to Nara; to Shri Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, the great soul.
हयग्रीवाय शुभ्राय हृषीकेश हराशुभम् । परोपतापमहितं प्रमुक्तं चाभिचारिकम्
To Hayagriva, the pure one, Hrishikesha, the remover of misfortune; to the one who frees from harm caused by others and from sorcery.
गरस्पर्शमहारोगप्रयोगं जरयाजर । नमोऽस्तु वासुदेवाय नमः कृष्णाय खड्गिने
To the destroyer of great diseases caused by poison or touch, to the ageless one, I bow to Vasudeva, I bow to Krishna, the wielder of the sword.
नमः पुष्करनेत्राय केशवायादिचक्रिणे । नमः किंजल्कवर्णाग्र्य पीतनिर्मलवाससे
Obeisance to the lotus-eyed, to Keshava, the holder of the discus; obeisance to the one whose garments are pure yellow, whose hue is like the pollen of a lotus.
महादेव वपुष्कंध धृतचक्राय चक्रिणे । दंष्ट्रोद्धृतक्षितितलत्रिमूर्तिपतये नमः
To the great god, with a mighty form, the bearer of the discus; obeisance to the Lord of the Trimurti, who lifted the earth with his tusks.
महायज्ञवराहाय श्रीवल्लभ नमोस्तु ते । तप्तहाटककेशांत ज्वलत्पावकलोचनः
To the great sacrificer, Varaha, beloved of Shri, obeisance to you; with hair like molten gold, with eyes blazing like fire.
वज्राधिकनखस्पर्श दिव्यसिंह नमोऽस्तु ते । कश्यपायातिह्स्वाय ऋग्यजुः सामलक्षण
With nails harder than thunderbolts, O divine lion, obeisance to you; to Kashyapa, of mighty voice, marked by Rig, Yajur, and Sama.
तुभ्यं वामनरूपाय क्रमते गां नमोनमः । वाराहाशेषदुःखानि सर्वपापफलानि च
To you, in the form of Vamana, who strides over the earth, repeated obeisance; O Varaha, crush all sufferings and all fruits of sin.
मर्दमर्द महादंष्ट्र मर्दमर्द च तत्फलम् । नृसिंहकुलिशस्पर्श दंतप्रांत नखोज्वल
Crush, crush, O great-tusked one, crush, crush their results; O Narasimha, with thunderbolt-like touch, with radiant teeth and nails.
भंजभंज निनादेन दुःखान्यस्यार्त्तिनाशन । ऋग्यजुःसामभिर्वाग्भिः कामरूपधरादिधृक्
Break, break, with your roar, the sufferings of this afflicted one; with words from Rig, Yajur, and Sama, you who assume desired forms and hold the earth.
प्रशमं सर्वदुःखानि नयत्वस्य जनार्दनः । एकाहिकं द्व्याहिकं च तथा त्रिदिवसज्वरम्
May Janardana lead all these sufferings to peace; whether one-day, two-day, or three-day fevers.
चातुर्थिकं तथात्युग्रं तथा वै सततज्वरम् । दोषोत्थं सन्निपातोत्थं तथैवागंतुकज्वरम्
The fourth-day fever, the exceedingly severe, and the constant fever; those arising from faults, from derangement, and those that come unexpectedly.
शमं नयतु गोविंदो भित्वा छित्वास्य वेदनाम् । नेत्रदुःखं शिरोदुःखं दुःखं तूदरसंभवम्
May Govinda bring them to peace, breaking and cutting away his pain; eye pain, head pain, and pain arising in the abdomen.
अनुच्छ्वासं महाश्वासं परितापं सवेपथुम् । गुदघ्राणांघ्रिरोगांश्च कुष्ठरोगं तथाक्षयम् 6.78.
Shortness of breath, great gasping, burning pain with trembling, diseases of the anus, nose, and feet, leprosy, and consumption—
कामलादींस्तथारोगान्प्रमेहादींश्च दारुणान् । ये वातप्रभवा रोगा लूताविस्फोटकादयः
Diseases such as jaundice and others, and also severe disorders like diabetes, all ailments arising from wind, and afflictions like worms and blisters—
ते सर्वे विलयं यांतु वासुदेवापमार्जिताः । विलयं यांति ते सर्वे विष्णोरुच्चारणेन वा
All these are destroyed by Vāsudeva’s dispelling power; all of them are dissolved by the utterance of Viṣṇu’s name.
क्षयं गच्छंतु चाशेषास्ते चक्राभिहता हरेः । अच्युतानंतगोविंद नामोच्चारणभेषजात्
Let all these perish, struck down by Hari’s discus; by the medicine of uttering the names Acyuta, Ananta, and Govinda—
नश्यंति सकला रोगाः सत्यं सत्यं वदाम्यहम् । स्थावरं जंगमं यच्च कृत्रिमं चापि यद्विषम्
All diseases are destroyed—this is truth, this is truth, I declare; whether fixed or moving, artificial or even the most poisonous—
दंतोद्भवं नखोद्भूतमाकाशप्रभवं च यत् । भूतादिप्रभवं यच्च विषमत्यंतदुःसहम्
Those arising from teeth, from nails, from space, those born of spirits and the like, and those that are extremely unbearable—
शमं नयतु तत्सर्वं कीर्तितोऽस्य जनार्दनः । ग्रहान्प्रेतग्रहांश्चैव तथान्याञ्छाकिनीग्रहान्
May all these be pacified when Janārdana is praised; and also the planets, spirits of the dead, and other demons called Śākinīs—
मुखमंडलिकान्क्रूरान्रेवतीं वृद्धिरेवतीम् । वृद्धिकाख्यान्ग्रहांश्चोग्रांस्तथा मातृग्रहानपि
The fierce mouth-spirits, Revatī, Vṛddhirevatī, the dreadful planets called Vṛddhi, and also the mother-spirits—
बालस्य विष्णोश्चरितं हंतु बालग्रहानपि । वृद्धानां ये ग्रहाः केचिद्बालानां चापि ये ग्रहाः
May the recitation of Viṣṇu’s deeds drive away the demons afflicting children; whatever spirits trouble the old or the young—
नृसिंहदर्शनादेव नश्यंते तत्क्षणादपि । दंष्ट्राकरालवदनो नृसिंहो दैत्यभीषणः
They are destroyed at once by the sight of Narasiṃha; Narasiṃha, with terrifying fangs and face, dreadful to the demons—
तं दृष्ट्वा ते ग्रहाः सर्वे दूरं यांति विशेषतः । श्रीनृसिंहमहासिंहज्वालामालोज्ज्वलानन
Upon seeing him, all those spirits flee far away, especially when they behold the blazing face of Śrī Narasiṃha, the great lion, wreathed in flames—
ग्रहानशेषान्सर्वेश नुदस्वास्य विलोचन । ये रोगा ये महोत्पाता ये द्विषो ये महाग्रहाः
O Lord of all, drive away all those spirits with your gaze; whatever diseases, great calamities, enemies, or mighty spirits—
