Daśaratha said: 'From this day forward, O Sun, let no one be afflicted by you—among gods, asuras, humans, animals, birds, or reptiles.'
Śani said: 'All the planets are called “graspers” and are known to cause affliction. O king, what you have asked is not to be given, but I will say what is appropriate.'
Whoever recites this hymn you have spoken, whether once or twice a day, will be freed from affliction instantly.
For gods, asuras, humans, siddhas, vidyādharas, and rākṣasas, I would grant death to one who has already died, at the end of the fourth birth.
But whoever, endowed with faith, pure and focused, worships my image made of iron with śamī leaves,
and gives iron as a gift, mixed with rice cooked with beans and sesame, or gives a black cow or a bull to a worthy recipient,
and especially on my day, worships with this hymn, and after worship recites the hymn with joined palms,
I will never cause affliction to that person, whether at my transit, at birth, or during planetary periods and sub-periods.
I always protect that person from affliction, both from me and from other planets; by this very method, the world becomes free from affliction.
Thus, O descendant of Raghu, I have given you this boon by this means. Having received three boons, King Daśaratha then
considered himself fulfilled, bowed to Śanaiścara, and, having been permitted by Śani, the swift one mounted his chariot.
The king returned to his own place and then attained prosperity. Whoever, rising in the morning on a Saturday, recites this hymn—
Whoever recites or listens to this hymn with faith is freed from sin and honored in the heavenly world.
Nārada said: 'Tell me in detail about the vow called Trispṛśā, O Lord of all; by hearing of it, the world is freed from the bondage of karma in an instant.'
Mahādeva said: 'It removes all heaps of sin and destroys great suffering. Listen to the account of the great vow called Trispṛśā, related to Kṛṣṇa.'
It grants desires to those who long for them, and liberation to those without desire. Listen, O brāhmaṇa, as I explain the vow called Trispṛśā.
In the age of Kali, O great sage, he who worships Keśava directly and who daily performs the chanting of the Trispṛśā, is truly devoted.
Even when the prescribed rites are performed, all sins are not destroyed; but by the mere utterance of the Trispṛśā, they are eradicated—there is no doubt about this.
Neither by rituals, nor by the recitation of the Purāṇas, nor by sacrifices, nor by visiting countless holy places, nor by many groups of vows, nor even by worship performed by the gods themselves,
O foremost of Brāhmaṇas, liberation does not occur if the Trispṛśā is not performed; for the sake of liberation, the Vaiṣṇava day has been revealed by the Lord of gods.
Among the twice-born, especially in the Kali age, knowledge is difficult to attain; there is no restraint of the senses, nor steadiness of mind.
For those deprived of sense objects, lacking meditation and concentration, and attached to enjoyment and pleasure, the Trispṛśā grants liberation.
Long ago, in the ocean, the four-faced one spoke to me; in the Milk Ocean, to those who had taken refuge, the wielder of the discus, in the form of a fish, declared it.
Even those who perform the Trispṛśā while engaged with sense objects, I grant liberation to them, even if they lack knowledge.
For those attached to enjoyment and pleasure, the Trispṛśā grants liberation; it has been performed by many groups of sages, O great sage.
If the Trispṛśā occurs in the bright fortnight of Kārttika, then, with Soma or even with the offspring of Soma, it destroys countless sins.
For whom the observance is performed, even if associated with killing, the skull of Brahmā falls from the hand of Maheśvara at that very moment onto the earth.
Freed from the multitude of Kali's sins, the goddess who traverses the three paths, by the instruction of Mādhava, through the observance of the Trispṛśā.
The eight killings of the mighty-armed, committed in previous births, O great sage, were removed by the instruction of Bhṛgu, through the observance of the Trispṛśā.
O foremost of Brāhmaṇas, a Brāhmaṇa killed in the forest by Śatāyudha was freed from the sin of Brahma-murder through the observance of the Trispṛśā.
