Even the lords of speech, Vishnu, Indra, and others, as well as those learned in the Vedas, worship that shore, blue as the wind, for the destruction of sin; victorious is Prayaga, the king of holy places.
Where the river Kalindi joins, and the heavenly Ganga flows eastward, washing away the triple suffering of people; victorious is Prayaga, the king of holy places.
The dark banyan tree, adorned with dark qualities, covers the worshippers with its pure shade; where the sight of it cuts away dark fatigue, victorious is Prayaga, the king of holy places.
Even Brahma and others, abandoning their own forms, seek the blessed destiny of the pure soul.
By serving it, O Lord, gods, humans, and divine sages daily praise it; it grants heaven, the highest earth, and royal dominion; victorious is Prayaga, the king of holy places.
It is well known that its power destroys sins, and its fame is seen; whose radiance spreads through the three worlds by its cows, victorious is Prayaga, the king of holy places.
All around, it bears the charming brilliance of white and black, where the rivers meet in the forest.
The daughter of Brahma, the threefold river, Triveni, at their confluence, is directly attained by worship.
For some, countless births pass in pursuit, saying 'let us go, let us go,' but for those seeking the supreme, the best of years is attained; what is gained by a thousand fortunes may or may not be spoken; by destiny, the Triveni is distinguished, and the sight of Prayaga is rare.
For those desiring heaven in the age of Kali, who cannot perform sacrifices, praise and hymns are offered; the fruits of Agnishtoma, Ashvamedha, and other sacrifices are fully realized here.
By my negligence or other faults, the Sandhya ritual was not properly performed; but if one performs Sandhya here with devotion, then Sandhya is fulfilled for all lifetimes, even for me.
Elsewhere, even with great austerity and devotion, the illustrious dust of Triveni is meditated upon by those far removed; I bow to that incomparable king of holy places, Prayaga, shining like a circle, conscious and divine.
What austerity have we performed, what sacrifices offered, what gifts given to worthy recipients, what various rites, what worship of gods, what holy places served, what Brahmin families honored by worship, by which the blessed city of Shiva, giver of auspiciousness, is always attained?
By fortune, I have attained that city, destroyer of all sins of many births, full of wonders, the city of Shiva, the raft across the ocean of worldly existence; the fruit for the virtuous is gained, the family purified, the self wholly accomplished; what else remains, highest above all?
A living man sees a hundred thousand blessings; this is not spoken falsely; therefore, for my body and sight, even a fleeting moment in Kashi was not attained.
Even the immortals cannot count the holy lingas in divine Kashi; those ancient, hidden and revealed, accomplished places here—I bow to them with joined hands.
What use is fear of sin, what use is joy from countless merits, what use is pride from study, or sorrow from dullness, what use is pride from wealth or pain from poverty, what use are meals; if, after bathing in the waters of Sri Manikarnika, Lord Vishveshvara is seen.
Even if small, healthy, or frail, with manifest capability, with strength and enthusiasm, or only with longing; even if not attained by desires or dreams, yet the city of Gadadhara grants immediate liberation.
By my own judgment, this act is not attainable by previous men, nor is there strength here; and this is not even a firm authority for my own people, nor is it an unshakable proof in matters such as misfortune. How difficult is the attainment of Gaya, Prayaga, Yamuna, or Kashi, and the arrival at their great festivals! There, the supreme fruit is gained by the grace of Shri Sharada.
He who, even when remembered from afar at the time of the shraddha, grants liberation to the ancestors—him, Gadadhara, standing directly in Gaya, I bow to.
Having crossed this exceedingly difficult path, more distant still, filled with petty dangers from tigers, thieves, thorns, and serpents as adversaries, a person arrives at the first expense and, with pitiful words, begs: O Lord of Karpara, O glorious Gadadhara, I long each day to see you.
O All-pervading One, by your own appearance and by the shraddha at Gaya, the gods are pleased and the whole world is satisfied—how then do you here display indifference? Is it now utter mercilessness in you, or is it the power of Kali, or is it a long-standing disregard for virtue in people, or perhaps a lack of delight in service?
O Gadadhara, I have performed the shraddha by your grace; permit me, O Lord, to return home.
The hymn to these four deities, which bestows the reward of heaven—whoever recites it daily at the time of shraddha, or at the time of bathing,
Bathing becomes equal to all sacred waters by hearing, reciting, or muttering the praise of Prayaga, Ganga, and Yamuna, O twice-born; by hearing it, the faults born of karma are destroyed.
Mahadeva said: Listen, O Narada, I will tell you the greatness of the origin of Tulasi; by hearing which, one is freed from sin, from birth to death.
The leaf, flower, fruit, root, branch, bark, and stem—all that arises from Tulasi, including the earth around it, is purifying.
Those whose bodies are burned with Tulasi wood as fuel, and when Tulasi wood is placed on all parts of the body of the deceased,
Afterwards, whoever performs the cremation is also freed from sin; and at death, if the name or remembrance of Hari is present,
If the cremation is done with Tulasi wood, there is no return to birth; even if only one piece of Tulasi wood is among a hundred pieces of wood,
