Even in Vaiśākha, according to one's ability, one should feed ten brāhmaṇas, having risen early for three nights, bathed, and being pure and devoted, at least once.
Or, whether white or black, sesame seeds mixed with honey should be given to twelve brāhmaṇas, and with that, one should utter words of blessing.
May Dharmarāja be pleased with me; may he satisfy the ancestors and the gods; all sins committed throughout life are destroyed at that very moment.
He dwells in the world of heaven for tens of thousands of years, enjoying as he wishes, but, though worshipped by all the gods, he does not see me.
Cooked food, water, pots, and the like should be offered for the satisfaction of the ancestors and the gods, on the thirteenth, fourteenth, and full-moon days, for three days.
Whoever gives with devotion to a brāhmaṇa on these days is freed from great sins; daily, according to ability, one should give brāhmaṇas golden or sesame vessels.
By offering water vessels, one removes the sin of killing a brāhmaṇa; in Vaiśākha, on the full-moon day, these were established by the Lotus-born One.
Sesame seeds should be given with devotion for the sake of prosperity and offspring; for the sake of this world, listen now, O virtuous one, to what happened in ancient times.
The fruit of the full-moon day in the month of Mādhava is most wonderful; beginning from the entry into Aries, there are thirty excellent lunar days.
These are declared in the Purāṇas to be holier than all sacrifices; especially, these three days are pure and hard to obtain for sinners.
Among them, the full-moon is especially holy, dear to Mādhava; this is the first lunar day from the beginning of the Boar Kalpa, yielding great results.
In ancient times, on this day, O brāhmaṇa, Nārāyaṇa deluded the two original demons, Hiraṇyākṣa and Madhu, and rescued the earth.
On the thirteenth, fourteenth, and full-moon days, the Lord performed these three acts in succession, in this bright half of the month of Mādhava.
From then on, O best of brāhmaṇas, the full-moon is especially renowned as purifying from the beginning of the kalpa, as a witness to righteous acts.
He who does not bathe in Vaiśākha at dawn with discipline, O brāhmaṇa, what is the use of his birth? Surely, he harms himself.
On the thirteenth, fourteenth, and especially the full-moon day, whether woman or man, if one bathes properly with observance of rules,
Having bathed at dawn with discipline, one is freed from all sins, even if lacking in the merit of bathing, giving, worship, śrāddha, or other virtuous acts.
Whoever has let Vaiśākha pass by is surely destined for hell; there is no scripture equal to the Veda, nor any sacred place equal to the Gaṅgā.
No gift equals that of water, nor is any lunar day equal to Vaiśākha; whoever gives a water-cow in Vaiśākha, devoted to Viṣṇu,
Among the three gods, this is especially the fourth: one who kills a mother, a father, an embryo, or violates the teacher's bed.
Upon seeing the water-cow, one is freed from all sins; ten ancestors before and after in the lineage are rescued from hell.
Those who give a water-cow in Vaiśākha, according to the prescribed rite, offer sugar, fruit, betel, sandals, and hand-leaves.
They give these to the foremost twice-born; blessed are those mentioned here, as well as water-pots adorned with jewels, cooked food, and golden gifts.
Whoever gives in Vaiśākha attains the fruit of an Aśvamedha sacrifice; here too, an ancient legend is cited.
The conversation of a brāhmaṇa with the departed in the great forest: the brāhmaṇa Dhanaśarma once lived in Madhyadeśa, O sinless one.
He went to the forest for kuśa grass and then saw something wondrous; frightened, he saw three wicked, dreadful ghosts.
With hair standing upright, bloodshot eyes, black teeth, and emaciated bellies, making various cries, they ran here and there.
Seeing them, terrified, the brāhmaṇa fled swiftly; those ghosts, wailing, followed him.
Pressed by those ghosts, he spoke sweet words; Dhanaśarma said: Who are you, what is your condition, and why are you suited to hell?
You should protect me, fearful, pitiable, and sorrowful; a Vaiṣṇava, with many servants, destitute, a brāhmaṇa who has come to the forest.
