Then, he granted him the Vaishnava world, which is attainable by yogis, eternal, non-returning, and composed of all the Upanishads.
At that very moment, he abandoned his human form, and, together with all his sons and wives, assumed a radiant Vaishnava form composed of the five Upanishads, entered a divine vehicle, and went to the single golden realm of Vāsudeva, surrounded by hosts of celestial nymphs, shining like a thousand suns.
At that time, Dāruka mounted the chariot and approached Viṣṇu.
Kṛṣṇa also sent word, 'Bring Arjuna, who is like myself, here as before.'
He mounted a chariot swift as the mind and arrived at Arjuna's side.
Meanwhile, Arjuna, together with the queens, mounted the chariot, performed the marriage rites, bowed, and with joined hands asked, 'What shall I do?'
Kṛṣṇa said to him, 'O Pārtha, I will go to my own world. You go to Dvāravatī, bring my eight wives—Rukmiṇī and others—who are there, and send them to my body.'
He, together with Dāruka, entered the city.
Meanwhile, the gods, stationed in celestial vehicles in the sky, saw Kṛṣṇa departing for heaven, praised him together with the sages, and showered flowers.
Kṛṣṇa, abandoning his human body—which was the cause of the maintenance and destruction of the entire world, the indwelling knower of all fields, the object of yogic meditation, free from affliction, and the essence of Vāsudeva—mounted Garuḍa, and, praised by the great sages, departed.
Arjuna related all of this to Vasudeva, Ugrasena, Rukmini, and the other chief queens.
Hearing this, all the citizens and women of Dvaravati left the inner chambers, and together with Vasudeva, Ugrasena, and all the beloveds of Krishna, quickly went to Hari.
All of them—Vasudeva, Ugrasena, Akrura, and all the elders of the Yadus—abandoned their bodies and approached the eternal Vasudeva.
Revati, embracing Balabhadra’s body, entered the fire, and after attaining that body, ascended a divine aerial chariot and reached the abode of her husband, the divine realm of Sankarshana.
In the same way, Rukmaputri with Pradyumna, Usha with Aniruddha, and all the Yadava women, after honoring the bodies of their respective husbands, entered the fire.
For all of them, Arjuna performed the last rites.
At that time, Daruka also arrived, mounting a divine chariot named Sugriva, yoked with celestial horses and adorned with all jewels.
The Parijata tree, Sudharma the divine assembly hall, and Indra’s realm ascended to the world of the gods.
At that moment, the city of Dvaravati was submerged in the great ocean.
Then, as all the sixteen thousand wives were going with Arjuna to Indraprastha, they were seized by robbers.
Previously, these women, who were goddesses and Gandharvi maidens, laughed upon seeing the great sage Ashtavakra; thus, he cursed them to become courtesans. Appeased and honored by them, by his grace they attained Vasudeva as their husband, worshipped by all worlds, yet by that same curse, they fell into the hands of robbers.
Arjuna too, defeated by the robbers and overwhelmed by grief, thought, 'My strength of arms, my valor, and all my majesty have departed along with Krishna; today, my fortune is exhausted.' Saying this, like the evening sun bereft of its rays, he returned to his own city, his radiance utterly gone.
Thus, for the welfare of all the gods and the destruction of the entire burden of the earth, Vasudeva descended in the Yadu line, destroyed all the great demons, removed the heavy load from the earth, liberated all the residents—moving and unmoving—of Nanda’s Vraja, Dvaraka, and Mathura from the bonds of time and death, established them in the supreme, eternal, yogic, golden, and pure realm, and, ever served by his divine queens, Vasudeva resided there.
