Thus, thirty-two offenses against Viṣṇu are enumerated.
Thousands of offenses are committed by me day and night; considering me as yours, forgive me, O Madhusūdana.
Reciting this mantra and bowing down flat on the ground, Hari always forgives thousands of offenses.
Eating as prescribed in the scriptures for twice-borns, in the evening and morning, and what remains from Viṣṇu's devotees, one is freed from the sins of the day.
Food is Brahmā, the essence is Viṣṇu; one should eat meat while reciting this. Thus, knowing this, whoever eats is not tainted by the faults of food.

Burnt food, lemon, whatever is not offered to Viṣṇu, citron, green vegetables, and salt that is not directly visible—
If by chance one eats such things, then one should remember their names; winter sugarcane, white rice, grains, mung beans, sesame, and barley—

Salt from the ocean or river, cow's curd and ghee, the essence extracted from milk, jackfruit, mango, and harītakī—
Long pepper, cumin, ginger, tamarind, banana, coconut, gooseberry, fruits, jaggery, and sugarcane.
The sages declare that food cooked without oil is sacrificial fare; whoever wears a garland made of tulasi leaves, flowers, and the like—
—should be understood as Vishnu himself; this is truth, truth, without doubt. By planting a gooseberry tree, a man becomes equal to Vishnu.
Know Kurukshetra as extending three hundred hand-lengths; with garlands made from tulasi wood and fashioned in the shape of rudraksha beads—
—one should place the garland upon the neck and begin worship; likewise, a garland of amalaki and a proper garland of lotus flowers.
A devotee of Vishnu should carefully wear a garland on the neck; even the used tulasi garland should be worn upon the head.

Nandaka should be placed at the heart's center, and the conch and discus on both arms; if a brahmin adorned with conch and discus dies in a cremation ground—
—the destination spoken of at Prayaga is assured for him; whoever, devoted to Vishnu, wears tulasi leaves upon the head—
—accomplishes all actions and attains unfading results; adorned with tulasi wood garlands, he performs his duties.
The merit gained for ancestors and deities becomes multiplied a hundred million times; after offering to Kesava a garland made of tulasi wood—
—whoever wears it with devotion, his sin is destroyed; after worshipping with water and the like, he should recite this mantra:
She who, when seen, dispels all accumulated sins; when touched, purifies the body; when bowed to, removes diseases; when sprinkled, cuts off the end of life; when placed nearby, brings closeness; when planted for Lord Krishna, and when laid at his feet, grants the fruit of liberation—to that tulasi, I bow.
Thus, in the glorious Padma Purana, in the Patalakhanda, in the greatness of Vrindavana, in the dialogue between Devi and Ishvara, is the seventy-ninth chapter named 'The Determination of Tilaka and Other Marks.'
Parvati said: When the dreadful Kali age arrives, filled with the grip of sense pleasures, and people are distressed by children, spouses, wealth, and so on—how is it to be endured, O Lord?
Therefore, O ocean of compassion, tell me the means, O Mahadeva. Ishvara said: Only the name of Hari, the name of Hari, the name of Hari alone.
