श्रीराधिकोवाच-। अस्या यावद्भवेत्पूर्णं पुरश्चरणमुत्तमम् । तावद्धि पालयैनां त्वं सावधाना सहालिभिः
Śrī Rādhikā said: Until the full and excellent performance of its preliminary rites is complete, you must carefully observe this vow together with your friends.
इत्युक्त्वा सा ययौ कृष्णपादांबुरुहसन्निधिम् । छायामात्मभवामात्मप्रेयसीनां निधाय च
Having said this, she went to the presence of Krishna's lotus feet, leaving behind her own shadow as the form of herself and her beloved companions.
तस्थौ तत्र यथापूर्वं राधिका कृष्णवल्लभा । अत्र प्रियंवदादेशात्पद्ममष्टदलं शुभम्
There, as before, Rādhikā, beloved of Krishna, remained; then, by Priyamvada's instruction, a beautiful eight-petaled lotus was prepared.
गोरोचनाभिर्निर्माय कुंकुमेनापि चंदनैः । एभिर्नानाविधैर्द्रव्यैः संमिश्रैः सिद्धिदायकम्
Fashioned with gorocanā, saffron, and sandalwood, and mixed with these various substances, it became a bestower of success.
लिखित्वा यंत्रराजं च शुद्धं मंत्रं तमद्भुतम् । कृत्वा न्यासादिकं पाद्यमर्घ्यं चापि यथाविधि
Having drawn the pure and wondrous king of yantras and the mantra, and performed the proper rites of nyāsa, foot-washing, and arghya,
नानर्तुसंभवैः पुष्पैः कुंकुमैरपि चंदनैः । धूपदीपैश्च नैवेद्यैस्तांबूलैर्मुखवासनैः
With flowers of every season, saffron, sandalwood, incense, lamps, offerings of food, betel, and mouth-fresheners,
वासोलंकारमाल्यैश्च संपूज्य नंदनंदनम् । परिवारैः समं सर्वैः सायुधं च सवाहनम्
With garments, ornaments, and garlands, they worshipped Nandanandana, together with all his attendants, weapons, and vehicle.
स्तुत्वा प्रणम्य विधिवच्चेतसा स्मरणं ययौ । ततो भक्तिवशो देवो यशोदानंदनः प्रभुः
Having praised and bowed to him according to the proper method, they entered into remembrance with their minds; then the Lord, son of Yaśodā, became bound by devotion.
स्मितावलोकितापांग तरंगिततरेंगितम् । उवाच राधिकां देवीं तामानय इहाशु च
With a smiling, sidelong glance, full of gestures and signs, he spoke to the goddess Rādhikā: 'Bring her here at once.'
आज्ञप्ता चैव सा देवी प्रस्थाप्य शारदां सखीम् । तामानिनाय सहसा पुरोवासुरसात्मनः
So commanded, the goddess sent her friend Śāradā, who quickly brought her before the Lord, the soul of rasa.
श्रीकृष्णस्य पुरस्तात्सा समेत्य प्रेमविह्वला । पपात कांचनीभूमौ पश्यंती सर्वमद्भुतम्
Coming before Śrī Krishna, she, overwhelmed with love, fell upon the golden ground, beholding everything as wondrous.
कृच्छ्रात्कथंचिदुत्थाय शनैरुन्मील्य लोचने । स्वेदांभः पुलकोत्कंप भावभाराकुलासती
With difficulty she rose, slowly opening her eyes, her body trembling with sweat, horripilation, and the weight of emotion.
ददर्श प्रथमं तत्र स्थलं चित्रं मनोरमम् । ततः कल्पतरुस्तत्र लसन्मरकतच्छदः
There she first saw a marvelous and beautiful place; then, there stood a wish-fulfilling tree with shining emerald leaves.
प्रवालपल्लवैर्युक्तः कोमलो हेमदंडकः । स्फटिकप्रवालमूलश्च कामदः कामसंपदाम्
Adorned with tender shoots and leaves, with a golden trunk, its base of crystal and coral, it granted all the riches of desire.
प्रार्थकाभीष्टफलदस्तस्याधो रत्नमंदिरम् । रत्नसिंहासनं तत्र तत्राष्टदलपद्मकम्
Beneath him who grants the desired fruits to those who seek, there is a palace of jewels; there, upon a jeweled throne, is an eight-petaled lotus.
शंखपद्मनिधी तत्र स व्यापसव्यसंस्थितौ । चतुर्दिक्षु यथा स्थानं सहिताः कामधेनवः
There, on the right and left, are the treasures of conch and lotus; and in the four directions, as is proper, are the wish-fulfilling cows together.
परितो नंदनोद्यानं मलयानिलसेवितम् । ऋतूनां चैव सर्वेषां कुसुमानां मनोहरैः
All around is the Nandana garden, fanned by the Malaya breeze, adorned with the charming flowers of all the seasons.
आमोदैर्वासितं सर्वं कालागुरुपराजितम् । मकरंदकणावृष्टिशीतलं सुमनोहरम्
The entire place is perfumed with delightful fragrances, surpassing even black aloe, cool with showers of flower nectar, and exceedingly beautiful.
मकरंदरसास्वाद मत्तानां भृंगयोषिताम् । वृंदशो झंकृतैः शश्वच्चैवं मुखरितांतरम्
The air is filled with the constant, melodious humming of swarms of intoxicated female bees, savoring the taste of flower nectar.
कलकंठी कपोतानां सारिकाशुकयोषिताम् । अन्यासां पत्रिकांतानां कलनादैर्निनादितम्
It resounds with the sweet calls of cuckoos, pigeons, mynas, parrots, and other birds, and with the varied notes of other winged creatures.
नृत्यैर्मत्तमयूराणामाकुलं स्मरवर्द्धनम् । रसांबुसेकसंसृष्ट तमांजनतनुद्युतिम्
The place is enlivened by the dances of intoxicated peacocks, stirring the god of love, and shines with the radiance of tamāla trees moistened by streams of nectar.
सुस्निग्धनीलकुटिल कषायावासिकुंतलम् । मदमत्तमयूराद्य शिखंडाबद्धचूडकम्
His hair is soft, dark-blue, curly, tinged with reddish cloth, adorned with a crest formed by the feathers of intoxicated peacocks and other birds.
भृंगसेवितसव्योपक्रमपुष्पावतंसकम् । लोलालकालिविलसत्कपोलादर्शकाशितम्
His ear is adorned with a flower cluster freshly served by bees, and his cheeks, shining like a mirror, are graced by playful, dangling locks.
विचित्रतिलकोद्दाम भालशोभाविराजितम् । तिलपुष्पपतंगेश चंचुमंजुलनासिकम्
His forehead is splendid with a brilliant, varied tilaka mark; his nose is like the beak of a tilapuṣpa moth, adorned with a delicate ornament.
चारुबिंबाधरं मंदस्मितदीपितमन्मथम् । वन्यप्रसूनसंकाश ग्रैवेयकमनोहरम्
His lovely lips are like bimba fruit, his gentle smile kindles love, and his charming necklace resembles wild forest flowers.
मदोन्मत्तभ्रमद्भृंगी सहस्रकृतसेवया । सुरद्रुमस्रजाराजन्मुग्धपीनांसकद्वयम्
His two shapely arms are adorned by garlands from celestial trees, made beautiful by the constant service of swarms of intoxicated bees.
मुक्ताहारस्फुरद्वक्षः स्थलकौस्तुभभूषितम् । श्रीवत्सलक्षणं जानुलंबिबाहुमनोहरम्
His chest, adorned with a shining pearl necklace and the Kaustubha gem, bears the mark of Śrīvatsa and delights the eyes down to his knees.
गंभीरनाभिपंचास्य मध्यमध्यातिसुंदरम् । सुजातद्रुमसद्वृत्त मदूरजानुमंजुलम्
His deep navel, five faces, and slender waist are exceedingly beautiful; his well-formed thighs resemble the trunks of fine trees, and his knees are lovely as honey.
कंकणांगदमञ्जीरैर्भूषितं भूषणैः परैः । पीतांशुकलयाविष्ट नितंबघटनायकम्
He is adorned with bracelets, armlets, and anklets—supreme ornaments—and is clothed in yellow silk, the leader among those with shapely hips.
लावण्यैरपि सौंदर्यजितकोटिमनोभवम् । वेणुप्रवर्त्तितैर्गीतरागैरपि मनोहरैः
Even the god of love is surpassed by his beauty and charm; the enchanting melodies played on his flute captivate all.
