सुभ्रून्नतलताभंगीं सुकपोलं सुनासिकम् । सुग्रीवं सुंदरं वक्षो मनोहर मनोहरम्
Her eyebrows are gracefully arched like tender creepers, her cheeks are lovely, her nose is beautiful, her neck is elegant, her chest is charming—truly enchanting.
किरीटिनं कुंडलिनं कंठभूषाविभूषितम् । मंजुमंजीरमाधुर्यादतिसौंदर्य विग्रहम्
She is adorned with a crown and earrings, her throat resplendent with ornaments, her form exquisitely beautiful, sweet with the gentle sound of anklets.
प्रियभृत्यगणाराध्यं यत्र संगीतकप्रियम् । पूर्णब्रह्मसदानंदं शुद्धसत्वस्वरूपकम्
She is worshipped by beloved attendants, fond of music and song, the embodiment of the Supreme Brahman, ever-blissful, of pure sattva nature.
तस्योर्द्ध्वे चांतरिक्षे च विष्णुं सर्वेश्वरेश्वरम् । अनादिमादिचिद्रूपं चिदानंदं परं विभुम्
Above her, in the sky, is Vishnu, Lord of all lords, beginningless, the primal form of consciousness, supreme, blissful, and all-pervading.
त्रिगुणातीतमव्यक्तं नित्यमक्षयमव्ययम् । समेघपुंजमाधुर्यसौंदर्यश्यामविग्रहम्
He transcends the three gunas, is unmanifest, eternal, imperishable, and unchanging, his form dark as a mass of rain clouds, sweet and beautiful.
नीलकुंचितसुस्निग्ध केशपाशातिसुंदरम् । अरविंददलस्निग्ध सुदीर्घचारुलोचनम्
His hair is deep blue, curly, and lustrous, exceedingly beautiful; his eyes are long, lovely, and moist like lotus petals.
किरीटकुंडलोद्गंड शुद्धसत्वात्मभिर्वृतम् । आत्मारामैश्च चिद्रूपैस्तन्मूर्तिध्यानतत्परैः
He is surrounded by pure-souled beings, adorned with crown, earrings, and prominent cheeks, and by those absorbed in meditation on his form, whose nature is pure consciousness and who delight in the self.
हृदयारूढ तद्ध्य्नौर्नासाग्रन्यस्तलोचनैः । क्रियतेऽहैतुकीभक्तिः कायहृद्वृत्तिभाषितैः
With their gaze fixed at the tip of the nose, their hearts absorbed in meditation on him, they perform causeless devotion through body, heart, actions, and words.
तत्सव्ये यक्षगंधर्वसिद्धविद्याधरादिभिः । सुकांतैरप्सरःसंघैर्नृत्यसंगीततत्परैः
To his left are Yakshas, Gandharvas, Siddhas, Vidyadharas, and others, along with groups of beautiful Apsaras, all devoted to dance and song.
तदंगभजनं कामं वांछद्भिः कृष्णलालसैः । तदग्रे वैष्णवैः सर्वैश्चांतरिक्षे सुखासने
Desiring to serve his limbs, longing for Krishna, they are present; and before him, all the Vaishnavas are seated comfortably in the sky.
प्रह्लादनारदाद्यैश्च कुमारशुकवैष्णवैः । जनकाद्यैर्लसद्भावैर्हृद्बाह्य स्फूर्तितत्परैः
Prahlada, Narada, and others, along with Kumara, Shuka, and Vaishnavas, Janaka and the like, radiant in their devotion, are absorbed inwardly and outwardly in his manifestation.
पुलकाकुलसर्वांगैः स्फुरत्प्रेमसमाकुलैः । रहस्यामृतसंसिक्तैरर्द्धयुग्माक्षरो मनुः
Their entire bodies are thrilled, overflowing with manifest love, secretly drenched in nectar, as they recite the half-syllabled mantra.
मंत्रचूडामणिः प्रोक्तः सर्वमंत्रैककारणम् । सर्वदेवस्य मंत्राणां कैशोरं मंत्रहेतुकम्
This mantra is called the crest-jewel of mantras, the sole cause of all mantras, the source of all deities’ mantras, and the origin of all youthful mantras.
सर्वकैशोरमंत्राणां हेतुश्चूडामणिर्मनुः । जपं कुर्वंति मनसा पूर्णप्रेमसुखाश्रयाः
This crest-jewel mantra is the cause of all youthful mantras; they recite it mentally, absorbed in the bliss of perfect love.
वांछंति तत्पदांभोजे निश्चलं प्रेमसाधनम् । तद्बाह्ये स्फटिकाद्युच्च प्रावारे सुमनोहरे
They long for that lotus-feet, the unwavering means to attain love; outside, there are splendid crystal and other high pavilions, exceedingly beautiful.
कुंकुमैः सितरक्ताद्यैश्चतुर्दिक्षु समाकुलैः । शुक्लं चतुर्भुजं विष्णुं पश्चिमे द्वारपालकम्
In all four directions, there are heaps of saffron, white and red powders; in the west stands Vishnu, white, four-armed, as the gatekeeper.
शंखचक्रगदापद्मकिरीटादि विभूषितम् । रक्तं चतुर्भुजं पद्मशंखचक्रगदायुधम्
He is adorned with conch, discus, mace, lotus, crown, and other ornaments; red, four-armed, holding lotus, conch, discus, and mace as weapons.
किरीटकुंडलोद्दीप्त द्वारपालकमुत्तरे । गौरं चतुर्भुजं विष्णुं शुखचक्रगदायुधम्
At the northern gate stands the gatekeeper, radiant with crown and earrings; fair, four-armed Vishnu, bearing conch, discus, and mace as weapons.
किरीटकुंडलाद्यैश्च शोभितं वनमालिनम् । पूर्वद्वारे द्वारपालं गौरं विष्णुं प्रकीर्तितम्
Adorned with a crown, earrings, and other ornaments, wearing a garland of forest flowers, at the eastern gate stands the doorkeeper, fair in complexion, who is praised as Vishnu.
कृष्णवर्णं चतुर्बाहुं शंखचक्रादिभूषणम् । दक्षिणद्वारपालं तु श्रीविष्णुंकृष्णवर्णकम्
Of dark hue, with four arms, embellished with conch, discus, and other emblems, at the southern gate stands the doorkeeper, Shri Vishnu, dark in color.
श्रीकृष्णचरितं ह्येतद्यः पठेत्प्रयतः शुचिः । शृणुयाद्वापि यो भक्त्या गोविंदे लभते रतिम्
Whoever recites this account of Shri Krishna with devotion and purity, or hears it with faith, attains love for Govinda.
इति श्रीपद्मपुराणे पातालखंडे कृष्णचरिते सप्ततितमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the seventieth chapter, 'The Deeds of Krishna,' in the Pātāla Section of the glorious Padma Purāṇa.
श्रीदेव्युवाच- भगवन्सर्वभूतेश सर्वात्मन्सर्वसंभव । देवेश्वर महादेव सर्वज्ञ करुणाकर
Shri Devi said: O Lord, ruler of all beings, soul of all, origin of everything, lord of the gods, great god, all-knowing, ocean of compassion,
त्वयानुकंपितैवाहं भूयोऽप्याहानुकंपया । त्रैलोक्यमोहना मंत्रास्त्वया मे कथिताः प्रभो
By your grace alone I have spoken again, out of your compassion; O master, you have told me the mantras that enchant the three worlds.
तेन देवेन गोपीभिर्महामोहनरूपिणा । केन केन विशेषण चिक्रीडे तद्वदस्व मे
By which qualities did that god, in the form of supreme enchantment, sport with the gopis? Tell me this.
महादेव उवाच। एकदा वादयन्वीणां नारदो मुनिपुंगवः । कृष्णावतारमाज्ञाय प्रययौ नंदगोकुलम्
Mahadeva said: Once, playing the vina, Narada, foremost among sages, learned of Krishna's incarnation and went to Nanda's cowherd village.
गत्वा तत्र महायोगमयेशं विभुमच्युतम् । बालनाट्यधरं देवदर्शनं नंदवेश्मनि
Arriving there, he saw the lord, the master of yoga, the imperishable one, engaged in childlike play, a divine sight in Nanda's house.
सुकोमलपटास्तीर्णहेमपर्यंकिकोपरि । शयानं गोपकन्याभिः प्रेक्षमाणं सदा मुदम्
Lying upon a golden couch spread with soft cloths, always watched with joy by the daughters of the cowherds,
अतीव सुकुमारांगं मुग्धं मुग्धविलोकनम् । विस्रस्तनीलकुटिलकुंतलावनिमंडलम्
His body exceedingly delicate, his gaze innocent and charming, his loose, dark, curly hair forming a halo around him,
किंचित्स्मितांकुरव्यंजदेकद्विरदकुड्मलम् । स्वप्रभाभिर्भासयंतं समंताद्भवनोदरम्
A slight smile budding on his lips, resembling the unopened flower of an elephant's trunk, illuminating the interior of the house with his own radiance,
