केचिद्वदंति तस्यांशं ब्रह्मचिद्रूपमद्वयम् । तद्दशांशं महाविष्णुं प्रवदंति मनीषिणः
Some say that his portion is the undivided form of Brahman-consciousness; the wise declare that the great Viṣṇu is a tenth part of that.
योगींद्रैः सनकाद्यैश्च तदेव हृदि चिंत्यते । त्रिभंगं ललिताशेष निर्माणसारनिर्मितम्
By the greatest yogis, beginning with Sanaka, that very form is contemplated in the heart, manifest in the triple-bending, graceful posture, the essence of all creation.
तिर्यग्ग्रीवजितानंतकोटिकंदर्पसुंदरम् । वामांसार्पित सद्गण्डस्फुरत्कांचनकुंडलम्
With a neck slightly bent, surpassing the pride of countless serpents, the left cheek adorned with a shining golden earring.
सहापांगेक्षणस्मेरं कोटिमन्मथसुंदरम् । कुंचिताधरविन्यस्त वंशीमंजुकलस्वनैः
With a smiling glance at the side, beautiful beyond millions of Cupids, holding the flute to the curved lower lip, producing sweet, melodious notes.
जगत्त्रयं मोहयंतं मग्नं प्रेमसुधार्णवे । श्रीपार्वत्युवाच-। परमं कारणं कृष्णं गोविंदाख्यं महत्पदम्
Enchanting the three worlds, immersed in the ocean of love’s nectar. Śrī Pārvatī said: The supreme cause is Kṛṣṇa, known as Govinda, the highest abode.
वृंदावनेश्वरं नित्यं निर्गुणस्यैककारणम् । तत्तद्रहस्यमाहात्म्यं किमाश्चर्यं च सुंदरम्
The eternal Lord of Vṛndāvana, the sole cause of the attributeless, what is the secret greatness and the wondrous beauty of that?
तद्ब्रूहि देवदेवेश श्रोतुमिच्छाम्यहं प्रभो । ईश्वर उवाच-। यदंघ्रिनखचंद्रांशु महिमांतो न गम्यते
Tell me of that, O Lord of gods; I wish to hear, O Master. Ishvara said: The greatness of the moon-like rays from His toenails cannot be comprehended.
तन्माहात्म्यं कियद्देवि प्रोच्यते त्वं मुदा शृणु । अनंतकोटिब्रह्मांडे अनंतत्रिगुणोच्छ्रये
That glory, O goddess, is told only in part; listen with joy. In infinite millions of universes, with infinite manifestations of the three gunas—
तत्कलाकोटिकोट्यंशा ब्रह्मविष्णुमहेश्वराः । सृष्टिस्थित्यादिना युक्तास्तिष्ठंति तस्य वैभवाः
Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshvara are but tiny fractions among countless millions of His energies, engaged in creation, preservation, and so forth, abiding in His majesty.
तद्रूपकोटिकोट्यंशाः कलाः कंदर्पविग्रहाः । जगन्मोहं प्रकुर्वंति तदंडांतरसंस्थिताः
Countless millions of forms, mere fractions of His form, are the embodiments of Kamadeva; abiding within each cosmic egg, they enchant the world.
तद्देहविलसत्कांतिकोटिकोट्यंशको विभुः । तत्प्रकाशस्य कोट्यंश रश्मयो रविविग्रहाः
The Lord, whose body radiates countless millions of dazzling beauties, is the source; the rays of the sun are but a fraction of the brilliance of His effulgence.
तस्य स्वदेहकिरणैः परानंद रसामृतैः । परमामोदचिद्रूपैर्निर्गुणस्यैककारणैः
By the rays of His own body—supreme bliss, the nectar of essence, the highest delight, forms of pure consciousness, and the sole cause of the attributeless—
तदंशकोटिकोट्यंशा जीवंति किरणात्मकाः । तदंघ्रिपंकजद्वंद्व नखचंद्र मणिप्रभाः
Countless millions of fractions of that, composed of rays, are alive; the twin lotus feet, the moon-like jewels of His nails—
आहुः पूर्णब्रह्मणोऽपि कारणं वेददुर्गमम् । तदंशसौरभानंतकोट्यंशो विश्वमोहनः
Even the cause of the complete Brahman is said to be inaccessible to the Vedas; countless millions of fractions of His fragrance enchant the universe.
तत्स्पर्शपुष्पगंधादि नानासौरभसंभवः । तत्प्रिया प्रकृतिस्त्वाद्या राधिका कृष्णवल्लभा
From His touch, flowers, fragrance, and other diverse scents arise; His beloved, the primal nature, is Radha, dear to Krishna.
तत्कलाकोटिकोट्यंशा दुर्गाद्यास्त्रिगुणात्मिकाः । तस्या अंघ्रिरजः स्पर्शात्कोटिविष्णुः प्रजायते
Countless millions of fractions of His energies are Durga and others, embodying the three gunas; from the dust of her feet, by a mere touch, millions of Vishnus are born.
पार्वत्युवाच- यदाकर्णनमेतस्य ये वा पारिषदाः प्रभोः । तदहं श्रोतुमिच्छामि कथयस्व दयानिधे
Parvati said: Those who hear this, or the attendants of the Lord—O Master, I wish to hear about them. Please tell me, O ocean of compassion.
ईश्वर उवाच। राधया सह गोविंदं स्वर्णसिंहासनेस्थितम् । पूर्वोक्तरूपलावण्यं दिव्यभूषांबरस्रजम्
Ishvara said: Govinda, together with Radha, sits upon a golden throne, adorned with the previously described beauty and divine ornaments, garments, and garlands.
त्रिभंगी मंजु सुस्निग्धं गोपीलोचनतारकम् । तद्बाह्ये योगपीठे च स्वर्णसिंहासनावृते
In the tribhanga pose, charming and gentle, the star among the eyes of the gopis; and outside, on the yogic seat, surrounded by the golden throne—
प्रत्यंगरभसावेशाः प्रधानाः कृष्णवल्लभाः । ललिताद्याः प्रकृत्यंशा मूलप्रकृतिराधिका
Absorbed in intimacy with every limb are the chief beloveds of Krishna; Lalita and others, portions of Prakriti, with Radha as the root Prakriti.
संमुखे ललिता देवी श्यामला वायुकोणके । उत्तरे श्रीमती धन्या ऐशान्यां श्रीहरिप्रिया
In front is the goddess Lalita; Shyamala is at the northwest; to the north is the illustrious Dhanya; in the northeast, Shri Haripriya.
विशाखा च तथा पूर्वे शैब्या चाग्नौ ततः परम् । पद्मा च दक्षिणे पश्चान्नैर्ऋते क्रमशः स्थिताः
Vishakha is in the east, Shaibya at the southeast, Padma in the south, and behind, in the southwest, they are situated in order.
योगपीठे केसराग्रे चारु चंद्रावती प्रिया । अष्टौ प्रकृतयः पुण्याः प्रधानाः कृष्णवल्लभाः
On the yogic seat, at the tip of the lion's mane, is the lovely Chandravati, the beloved; these eight are the pure Prakritis, the chief beloveds of Krishna.
प्रधानप्रकृतिस्त्वाद्या राधा चंद्रावती समा । चंद्रावली चित्ररेखा चंद्रा मदनसुंदरी
The principal Prakriti is Radha, equal to Chandravati; Chandravali, Chitrarekha, Chandra, and Madanasundari.
प्रिया च श्रीमधुमती चंद्ररेखा हरिप्रिया । षोडशाद्याः प्रकृतयः प्रधानाः कृष्णवल्लभाः
Priya, Shri Madhumati, Chandrarekha, and Haripriya—these sixteen principal natures, beloved of Krishna, are foremost.
वृंदावनेश्वरी राधा तथा चंद्रावली प्रिया । अभिन्नगुणलावण्य सौंदर्याश्चारुलोचनाः
Vrindavaneshvari Radha, as well as Chandravali Priya, possess undivided qualities, charm, beauty, and lovely eyes.
मनोहरा मुग्धवेषाः किशोरीवयसोज्ज्वलाः । अग्रेतनास्तथा चान्या गोपकन्याः सहस्रशः
Enchanting, adorned in innocent attire, radiant in youthful age, and foremost among them are countless other cowherd maidens.
शुद्धकांचनपुंजाभाः सुप्रसन्नाः सुलोचनाः । तद्रूपहृदयारूढास्तदाश्लेष समुत्सुकाः
Resplendent like pure gold clusters, cheerful, with beautiful eyes, their hearts absorbed in Krishna's form, eager for his embrace.
श्यामामृतरसे मग्नाः स्फुरत्तद्भावमानसाः । नेत्रोत्पलार्चिते कृष्णपादाब्जेऽपितचेतसः
Immersed in the nectar of Krishna's dark beauty, their minds vibrant with his presence, their hearts devoted to his lotus feet, worshipped with eyes like blooming lotuses.
श्रुतिकन्यास्ततो दक्षे सहस्रायुतसंयुताः । जगन्मुग्धीकृताकारा हृद्वर्तिकृष्णलालसाः
Then, to the south, thousands upon thousands of daughters of the Vedas, whose forms captivate the world, their hearts longing for Krishna.
