धनदो ह्यर्थिनां रामः कारुण्यश्च कृपानिधिः । भ्रातृभिः सहितो नित्यं गुरुदेवस्तुतिं व्यधात्
Rama, the giver of wealth to those in need, a treasure of compassion, always praised his teachers and gods together with his brothers.
शेष उवाच। अथाभिषिक्तं रामं तु तुष्टुवुः प्रणताः सुराः । रावणाभिधदैत्येंद्र वधहर्षितमानसाः
Shesha said: Then, as Rama was consecrated, the gods, bowing, praised him, their hearts rejoicing at the death of the demon king Ravana.
देवा ऊचुः। जय दाशरथे सुरार्तिहञ्जयजय दानववंशदाहक । जय देववरांगनागणग्रहणव्यग्रकरारिदारक
The gods said: Victory to you, O son of Dasharatha, destroyer of the distress of the gods! Victory to you, who burned the lineage of the demons! Victory to you, who, with hands eager to seize, destroyed the enemies and delighted the hosts of divine maidens!
तवयद्दनुजेंद्र नाशनं कवयो वर्णयितुं समुत्सुकाः । प्रलये जगतांततीः पुनर्ग्रससे त्वं भुवनेशलीलया
Poets, eager to describe your destruction of the king of demons, strive to do so; yet, at the dissolution, you again swallow the worlds by your divine play as Lord of the Universe.
जय जन्मजरादिदुःखकैः परिमुक्तप्रबलोद्धरोद्धर । जय धर्मकरान्वयांबुधौ कृतजन्मन्नजरामराच्युत
Victory to you, who rescue the strong from the great sufferings of birth, old age, and the like! Victory to you, O changeless one, who, though born among mortals, are truly unborn, and who uphold dharma in the ocean of righteous lineages!
तव देववरस्य नामभिर्बहुपापा अपि ते पवित्रिताः । किमु साधुद्विजवर्यपूर्वकाः सुतनुं मानुषतामुपागताः
Even those burdened with many sins are purified by your divine names, O best of gods; what then of those who, preceded by the best of the virtuous and twice-born, have attained a human body?
हरविरिंचिनुतं तव पादयोर्युगलमीप्सितकामसमृद्धिदम् । हृदि पवित्रयवादिकचिह्नितैः सुरचितं मनसा स्पृहयामहे
We long in our hearts for your pair of feet, praised by Hara and Virinchi, which grant the fulfillment of all desires, and which are marked by auspicious signs, worshipped by the gods, and purify the mind.
यदि भवान्न दधात्यभयं भुवो मदनमूर्ति तिरस्करकांतिभृत् । सुरगणा हि कथं सुखिनः पुनर्ननुभवंति घृणामय पावन
If you do not grant fearlessness to the earth, O bearer of the radiance that dispels the form of desire, how can the hosts of gods ever be happy again, experiencing the purifying power of compassion?
यदा यदास्मान्दनुजाहि दुःखदास्तदा तदा त्वं भुवि जन्मभाग्भवेः । अजोऽव्ययोऽपीशवरोऽपि सन्विभो स्वभावमास्थाय निजं निजार्चितः
Whenever the demons cause us suffering, then and there you take birth on earth, O unborn, imperishable, supreme Lord, O all-pervading one, assuming your own nature, worshipped by your devotees.
मृतसुधासदृशैरघनाशनैः सुचरितैरवकीर्य महीतलम् । अमनुजैर्गुणशंसिभिरीडितः प्रविश चाशु पुनर्हि स्वकं पदम्
Having covered the earth with good deeds, like nectar that destroys sin, and praised by the virtuous who are not human, enter swiftly again into your own abode.
अनादिराद्योजररूपधारी हारी किरीटी मकरध्वजाभः । जयं करोतु प्रसभं हतारिः स्मरारि संसेवितपादपद्मः
The beginningless, primeval one, who assumes the form of birth and old age, adorned with a garland and crown, resembling the banner of the makara, may the slayer of enemies, whose lotus feet are served by the enemy of Smara, grant us victory by force.
इत्युक्त्वा ते सुराः सर्वे ब्रह्मेंद्रप्रमुखा मुहुः । प्रणेमुररिनाशेन प्रीणिता रघुनायकम्
Having thus spoken, all the gods, led by Brahma and Indra, repeatedly bowed to Rama, the delight of the Raghu line, pleased by the destruction of the enemy.
इति स्तुत्यातिसंहृष्टो रघुनाथो महायशाः । प्रोवाच तान्सुरान्वीक्ष्य प्रणतान्नतकंधरान्
Thus, greatly gladdened by their praise, the illustrious Rama, seeing the gods who had bowed with bent necks, spoke to them.
श्रीराम उवाच। सुरा वृणुत मे यूयं वरं किंचित्सुदुर्ल्लभम् । यं कोऽपि देवो दनुजो न यक्षः प्राप सादरः
Shri Rama said: O gods, ask of me any boon, however difficult to obtain, which no god, demon, or yaksha has ever attained with devotion.
सुरा ऊचुः। स्वामिन्भगवतः सर्वं प्राप्तमस्माभिरुत्तमम् । यदयं निहतः शत्रुरस्माकं तु दशाननः
The gods said: Lord, we have obtained from you all that is best, since this enemy of ours, the ten-headed one, has been slain.
यदायदाऽसुरोऽस्माकं बाधां परिदधाति भोः । तदा तदेति कर्तव्यमेतावद्वैरिनाशनम्
Whenever the demon causes us trouble, then it is your duty to destroy the enemy at that time.
तथेत्युक्त्वा पुनर्वीरः प्रोवाच रघुनंदनः । श्रीराम उवाच। सुराः शृणुत मद्वाक्यमादरेण समन्विताः
Saying 'so be it,' the heroic descendant of Raghu spoke again: Shri Rama said: O gods, listen attentively to my words.
भवत्कृतं मदीयैर्वैगुणैर्ग्रथितमद्भुतम् । स्तोत्रं पठिष्यति मुहुः प्रातर्निशि सकृन्नरः
Whoever, morning and night, or even once, recites this wondrous hymn composed by you for me, describing my virtues,
तस्य वैरि पराभूतिर्न भविष्यति दारुणा । न च दारिद्र्यसंयोगो न च व्याधिपराभवौ
For him, there will not be terrible defeat by enemies, nor will he suffer poverty or be overcome by disease.
मदीयचरणद्वंद्वे भक्तिस्तेषां तु भूयसी । भविष्यति मुदायुक्ते स्वांते पुंसां तु पाठतः
For those who recite it, devotion to my pair of feet will greatly increase, bringing joy to their hearts.
इत्युक्त्वा सोऽभवत्तूष्णीं नरदेवशिरोमणिः । सुराः सर्वे प्रहृष्टास्ते ययुर्लोकं स्वकं स्वकम्
Having spoken thus, the foremost among kings became silent; all the gods, delighted, returned each to their own world.
रघुनाथोऽपि भ्रातॄंस्तान्पालयंस्तातवद्बुधान् । प्रजाः पुत्रानिव स्वीयाल्लाँलयँल्लोकनायकः
Raghunātha, the leader of people, cherished his wise brothers as a father does, and cared for his subjects as if they were his own sons.
यस्मिञ्छासति लोकानां नाकालमरणं नृणाम् । न रोगादि पराभूतिर्गृहेषु च महीयसी
During his reign, there was no untimely death among people, nor any defeat from disease or other calamities in their homes.
नेतिः कदापि द्दश्येत वैरिजं भयमेव च । वृक्षाः सदैव फलिनो मही भूयिष्ठधान्यका
Never was there seen the threat of enemies or fear arising from foes; trees always bore fruit, and the earth yielded abundant grain.
पुत्रपौत्रपरीवार सनाथी कृतजीवनाः । कांता संयोगजसुखैर्निरस्तविरहक्लमाः
Surrounded by children and grandchildren, fulfilled in life, people enjoyed the happiness of union with their beloved, free from the pain of separation.
नित्यं श्रीरघुनाथस्य पादपद्मकथोत्सुकाः । कदापि परनिंदासु वाचस्तेषां भवंति न
Always eager to hear stories of Raghunātha's lotus feet, their words never turned to slander of others.
कारवोऽपि कदा पापं नाचरंति मनस्यहो । रघुनाथकराघातदुःखशंकाभिशंसिनः
Even the wicked never committed evil in thought, fearing the punishment from Raghunātha's hand.
सीतापतिमुखालोक निश्चलीभूतलोचनाः । लोका बभूवुः सततं कारुण्यपरिपूरिताः
With eyes fixed unwaveringly on the face of Sītā's husband, the people were ever filled with compassion.
राज्यं प्राप्तमसापत्नं समृद्धबलवाहनम् । ऋषिभिर्हृष्टपुष्टैश्च रम्यं हाटकभूषणैः
The kingdom, free from rivals, possessed abundant forces and vehicles, was delightful with joyful and strong sages, and adorned with golden ornaments.
संपुष्टमिष्टापूर्तानां धर्माणां नित्यकर्तृभिः । सदा संपन्नसस्यं च सुवसुक्षेत्रसंयुतम्
It was flourishing with those who constantly performed the desired rites and acts of charity, always rich in crops and blessed with good fields.
