Sadashiva said: Thus it is, O chief of monkeys, I shall tell you your worship; by worshipping my pair of feet, become the performer of all worship.
Worship thus as prescribed in the linga; perform my worship in that way. Hanuman said: By my teacher, worship of the linga has been established and assigned to me.
I have performed that before, O Lord; afterwards, I shall worship your feet. Having said this, he bowed to the Lord and engaged in worship of the Shiva linga.

Having washed his feet and hands, and having sipped water, with concentration, he performed a bath with ashes, then again sipped water, observing silence.
Then he made a divine altar, adorned with beautiful lotuses; immediately, seated on a palm leaf, the monkey sat in the lotus posture.

Seeing only the linga in his hand, filled with fear, the great yogi said: What sin have I committed,
That this Shiva linga, lacking a pedestal, is in my hand; today my death is certain if the pedestal does not appear.
Then I shall recite Rudra; Maheshvara will come. Resolving thus in his mind, he recited the Shatarudriya.
Yet even then Mahesha did not appear; then the lord of monkeys cast Rudra upon the ground, and Virabhadra arrived.
For what reason do you weep, devotee? Tell me the cause of your weeping. Hanuman said: See, this linga is without a pedestal; behold my accumulation of sin.
Virabhadra said: If the pedestal does not come to your linga, do not act rashly; I shall burn the world if the pedestal does not appear.
