The wise should make their mind absorbed in Him, and their intention fixed on Him; at the end, the person attains Him—there is no need for further inquiry.
Who would not serve Narayana, the beginningless and endless, who grants his own abode to those who meditate on Him with their mind?
One should always, with steady mind, offer devotion at Vishnu's lotus feet for His pleasure; with deep reverence, one should worship both His feet—such a person indeed attains honor among men.
Suta said: Thus is the greatness in the world, the cause of deliverance for beings, of that supreme Vishnu, who assumes various forms.
There is one ancient form, the supreme and great Padma; the head is Brahma's, belonging to Hari, and the heart is called Padma.
The right arm is Vaishnava, the left is Shaiva, belonging to Maheshvara; the thighs are called Bhagavata, and the navel is Naradiya.
Markandeya is the right foot, Vama is called the Agneya; Bhavishya is the right knee of the great-souled Vishnu.
The left knee is known as Brahmavaivarta; the right ankle is Linga, and the left ankle is Varaha.
The hairs of the body are Skanda Purana, and the skin is remembered as Vamana; the back is called Kurma, and the fat is proclaimed as Matsya.
The marrow is said to be Garuda, and the bone is sung as Brahmanda; thus, Vishnu became the Purana-body, Hari.
There, the heart is Padma; hearing it, one attains immortality. This Padma Purana itself became Hari, the god.
Whoever studies even one chapter is freed from all sins; this is the original heaven, granting all the fruits of the Padma.
Even those who are great sinners, upon hearing the Svarga section, are freed from sins, just as snakes shed their old skin.
Even if one is of very bad conduct, excluded from all dharmas, by hearing the original Svarga, he attains its fruit.
Having heard this original Svarga, a person obtains its fruit; in the month of Magha, bathing daily at Prayaga,
Just as one is freed from sin, so it happens by hearing; it is as if he has given a golden scale and the entire earth.
He has performed the gift of crossing for the poor, paid off whatever debt was owed; he has repeatedly recited thousands of Hari's names.
All these gifts and studies, and all such actions, as well as many teachers established by giving livelihood,
Fearlessness has been given to those in worlds of fear, and likewise to the twice-born; virtuous, wise, and righteous people have been honored.
Between Aries and Cancer, cool water has been given; for the sake of Brahmins and cows, life itself has been sacrificed.
Other good deeds have also been performed by that wise one, who has heard and proclaimed the original section in the assembly.
Having studied the Svarga section, he enjoys various pleasures; like one sleeping happily among palace women, he awakens.
With the sounds of tinkling ornaments and sweet speech, he enjoys half the seat of Indra and dwells long in Indra's world.
Then he goes to the abode of the Sun, then to the moon's world; after enjoying pleasures in the house of the Seven Sages, he goes to Dhruva.
Then, attaining the world of Brahma, with a body made of light, there itself, having obtained knowledge, one reaches the highest liberation.
A wise person should dwell with the virtuous, bathe at sacred fords, always engage in noble conversation, and listen to true scripture.
There, the great scripture called the Padma, which grants the fruits of all traditions, and within it, the Svarga-khanda, bestowing the highest merit, are found.
Worship Govinda, bow to Hari, the one supreme among the gods; you will go to worlds of supremely pure enjoyments. Listen, O people, speak the matchless name of Hari; if you wish to cross the misery of hell, obtain the desired blessings.
Thus ends the sixty-second chapter in the Svarga-khanda of the glorious Padma Mahapurana.
Shaunaka said: By what action, O Suta, can the destruction of sins occur? May the mercy of Shri Hari be great—please tell this out of compassion.
