For one whose mind is delighted in samādhi, that is the path for one whose heart is fixed on Kṛṣṇa. There, those who cause obstacles are called imposters and clever deceivers.
Women and their associates are also obstructers of devotion to Hari. The glance of women is difficult to overcome, even for the gods.
He who conquers this in the world is called a devotee of Hari. Even sages here become intoxicated, being eager for the conduct of women.
How can there be devotion to Hari among men who indulge in devotion to women, O twice-born? Demonesses, adorned as desirous women, roam the world, O twice-born, always seizing the intellect of men for their own benefit.
Knowledge flourishes only so long, wisdom is active only so long, and pure intelligence, which upholds all scriptures, remains only so long—
Recitation, austerity, pilgrimage, service to the guru, and the resolve to cross over—these endure only so long.
Awakening lasts only so long, discernment only so long; only so long does one delight in the company of the virtuous, only so long does one long for the Purāṇas.
O Brāhmaṇas, as long as the restless glancing of women does not fall upon people, there is no destruction of all dharmas among men.
Those who are graced by the honey-lord of Hari's lotus feet—upon them, the casting of women's restless eyes has no power.
O twice-born, those who have served Hṛṣīkeśa birth after birth, who have given to Brāhmaṇas, offered oblations into fire, and practiced detachment here and there—
What indeed do they call beauty in women? It is said to be merely the arrangement of ornaments and garments.
How can the form of a woman, devoid of affection and self-knowledge, be considered attractive, being composed of pus, urine, feces, blood, skin, fat, lips, and marrow?
That body—how can there be beauty in it? Thus, having reflected separately, one should become pure by bathing after touching it.
Yet, when joined with those things, the body appears beautiful to people—alas, what a dire fate has befallen men, O twice-born, by the working of misfortune!
A man, seeing a woman's breasts and body, is moved to act; but upon reflection, what is truly a woman or a man?
Therefore, the virtuous should completely avoid association with women; who, having approached a woman, ever attains perfection on earth?
One should even abandon the company of a woman who associates with men of desire; it is clearly seen that from such association comes torment.
Out of ignorance, greedy people are deceived there by fate; a man is cooked in the very pit of hell, in the womb of a woman.
Wherever one has come from on earth, there alone one delights again; from where urine, semen, and filth constantly issue forth.
There itself people take pleasure—who then would not be impure? Alas, what great suffering in this world, what a mockery of fate!
Again and again one delights there—alas, what shamelessness among men! Therefore, the wise should reflect on the many faults of women.
From intercourse comes loss of strength, sleep increases, youth fades; deprived of knowledge by sleep, a man becomes short-lived.
Therefore, the wise should diligently regard a woman as death itself for oneself, and should fix the mind on the lotus feet of Govinda.
Here and hereafter, happiness is truly in the service of Govinda's feet; abandoning that, what utter fool serves the feet of a woman?
Service at Janārdana’s feet indeed grants freedom from rebirth; but service to the female sexual organ brings bondage to the womb.
Just as one pressed repeatedly in a machine falls again and again into the womb, so too does one who desires it—let him understand this mockery.
With arms raised I declare—hear my supreme word: Place Govinda in your heart, not the torments of the womb.
Whoever abandons association with women and turns away from it attains, at every step, the fruit of an Aśvamedha sacrifice.
If a noble woman, by divine arrangement, is married and bears a son, one should avoid union with her thereafter.
The Lord of the universe is surely pleased with such a one—there is no doubt; for the wise declare that association with women is association with the unworthy.
