O merchant, I will tell you the merit of one who, according to rule, worships twelve stones arising from the Shalagrama.
The merit obtained in a single day by worshipping twelve Shalagrama stones is equal to that gained by worshipping twelve crore lingas with golden lotuses at twelve times.
Whoever, with devotion, worships the Śālagrāma stone a hundred times, after residing in the world of Hari, is born here as a universal sovereign.
Even the lowest man, filled with desires, anger, and greed, attains the world of Hari by worshipping the Śālagrāma stone.
A man who joyfully worships Govinda in the Śālagrāma stone does not fall from heaven until the end of the cosmic age.
Without pilgrimages, without gifts, without sacrifices, and without special knowledge, men and even merchants attain liberation by worshipping the Śālagrāma stone.
Not even a sinful merchant who worships the Śālagrāma stone goes to hell, the womb, animal birth, or the state of worms.
He who knows the mantras, performs the rites of initiation, and offers oblations—Ganga, Godavari, Reva, and all rivers that grant liberation—
All these sacred rivers dwell beneficially in the water of the Śālagrāma stone, along with various offerings, flowers, incense, lamps, and ointments.
Whoever, devoted to worship, performs the worship of the Śālagrāma stone in the Kali age with songs, music, hymns, and the like—
For thousands of millions of aeons, he delights in the presence of Hari; the fruit gained by worshipping millions of liṅgas with sight—
That very fruit is obtained in a single day by worshipping the Śālagrāma stone, or by worshipping even once a liṅga born from the Śālagrāma stone.
Men certainly attain liberation, even without Sāṃkhya knowledge, wherever Keśava abides in the form of the Śālagrāma stone.
There, the gods, divine beings, yakṣas, and all fourteen worlds—when a man performs śrāddha at the Śālagrāma stone—
His ancestors remain satisfied in heaven for a hundred aeons; and those men who daily drink the water of the Śālagrāma stone—
What is the use of serving a thousand vessels of pañcagavya? What is the use of serving a thousand million holy places?
If one drinks the sacred water from the Śālagrāma stone, wherever the Śālagrāma stone is, that place is a holy site for three yojanas around.
There, any gift or sacrifice becomes a hundred million times more fruitful; whoever drinks even a drop of the water from the Śālagrāma stone—
Such a man, having partaken of Viṣṇu's portion, never again drinks his mother's milk; and in the vicinity of the Śālagrāma, for a krośa all around—
Even an insect that dies there goes to the supreme abode of Vaikuṇṭha; and whoever gives the Śālagrāma stone's cakra as the highest gift—
By offering the value obtained from a Śālagrāma stone, a man gives the earth's realm, with its mountains, forests, and groves.
Whoever sells, approves, or delights in examining such stones—all of them go to hell until the dissolution of creation.
Therefore, a merchant should avoid buying and selling the sacred stone; what need is there for many words? The merchant should act, fearing sin.
The remembrance of Vāsudeva, Hari who removes all sins, is penance; a man, with controlled senses, performing austerity in a dreadful forest,
Whatever fruit he attains by bowing to Garuḍa-bannered Lord, even if a man commits much sin, deluded in mind,
He does not go to hell, having approached Hari, the remover of all sins; all the holy places and sacred shrines on earth,
He attains all those by reciting the names of Viṣṇu; those who have surrendered to Viṣṇu, the bearer of the Śārṅga bow,
They do not see Yama's realm, nor do they dwell in hell; but a Vaiṣṇava who insults Śiva,
He does not attain the Vaiṣṇava world; he goes to a great hell. Even if a man observes a single Ekādaśī fast by chance,
He does not suffer Yama's torments—this has been heard from Lomaśa. Nothing so purifying exists in the three worlds.
