शंखिनश्चक्रिणो भूत्वा ब्रह्माभ्यंतरगामिनः । वसंति वैष्णवे लोके विष्णुरूपेण ते नराः
Becoming bearers of conch and discus, entering the realm of Brahma, those men dwell in the world of Vishnu in forms resembling Vishnu.
हृदि सूर्ये जले वाथ प्रतिमा स्थंडिलेपि च । समभ्यर्च्य हरिं यांति नरास्तद्वैष्णवं पदम्
Having worshipped Hari in the heart, in the sun, in water, in an image, or even on the ground, men attain that Vaishnava abode.
अथवा सर्वदा पूज्यो वासुदेवो मुमुक्षुभिः । शालग्रामे मणौ चक्रे वज्रकीटविनिर्मिते
Alternatively, Vasudeva is always to be worshipped by those seeking liberation, in the Shalagrama stone, in the gem, in the discus, or in one formed by the thunderbolt insect.
अधिष्ठानं हि तद्विष्णोः सर्वपापप्रणाशनम् । सर्वपुण्यप्रदं वैश्य सर्वेषामपि मुक्तिदम्
That is indeed the seat of Vishnu, the destroyer of all sins, the bestower of all merit, and the giver of liberation to all.
यः पूजयेद्धरिं चक्रे शालग्रामशिलोद्भवे । राजसूयसहस्रेण तेनेष्टं प्रतिवासरे
Whoever worships Hari in the discus arising from the Shalagrama stone, has, each day, performed the equivalent of a thousand Rajasuya sacrifices.
सदामनंति वेदांता ब्रह्मनिर्वाणमच्युतम् । तत्प्रसादो भवेन्नॄणां शालग्रामशिलार्चनात्
The Vedantas always praise the eternal, unchanging Brahman; by worshipping the Shalagrama stone, his grace arises for men.
महाकाष्ठस्थितो वह्निर्मखस्थाने प्रकाशते । यथा तथा हरिर्व्यापी शालग्रामे प्रकाशते
Just as fire present in great wood becomes manifest in the place of sacrifice, so too does the all-pervading Hari become manifest in the Shalagrama.
अपि पापसमाचाराः कर्म्मण्यनधिकारिणः । शालग्रामार्चका वैश्य नैव यांति यमालयम्
Even those engaged in sinful acts, or unfit for ritual action, if they worship the Shalagrama, do not go to the abode of Yama.
न तथा रमते लक्ष्म्यां न तथा स्वपुरे हरिः । शालग्रामशिलाचक्रे यथा स रमते सदा
Hari does not delight so much in Lakshmi, nor in his own city, as he always delights in the discus of the Shalagrama stone.
अग्निहोत्रं कृतं तेन दत्ता पृथ्वी ससागरा । येनार्चितो हरिश्चक्रे शालग्रामशिलोद्भवे
By whom Hari is worshipped in the discus arising from the Shalagrama stone, it is as if he has performed the Agnihotra and given the earth with its oceans.
शिला द्वादश भो वैश्य शालग्रामशिलोद्भवाः । विधिवत्पूजिता येन तस्य पुण्यं वदामि ते
O merchant, I will tell you the merit of one who, according to rule, worships twelve stones arising from the Shalagrama.
कोटिद्वादशलिंगैस्तु पूजितैः स्वर्णपंकजैः । यत्स्याद्द्वादशकालेषु दिनेनैकेन तद्भवेत्
The merit obtained in a single day by worshipping twelve Shalagrama stones is equal to that gained by worshipping twelve crore lingas with golden lotuses at twelve times.
यः पुनः पूजयेद्भक्त्या शालग्रामशिला शतम् । उषित्वा स हरेर्लोके चक्रवर्त्तीह जायते
Whoever, with devotion, worships the Śālagrāma stone a hundred times, after residing in the world of Hari, is born here as a universal sovereign.
कामैः क्रोधैः प्रलोभैश्च व्याप्तो यत्र नराधमः । सोऽपि याति हरेर्लोकं शालग्रामशिलार्चनात्
Even the lowest man, filled with desires, anger, and greed, attains the world of Hari by worshipping the Śālagrāma stone.
यः पूजयेच्च गोविंदं शालग्रामे मुदा नरः । आभूतसंप्लवं यावन्न स प्रच्यवते दिवः
A man who joyfully worships Govinda in the Śālagrāma stone does not fall from heaven until the end of the cosmic age.
विना तीर्थैर्विना दानैर्विना यज्ञैर्विना मतिम् । मुक्तिं यांति नरा वैश्य शालग्रामशिलार्चनात्
Without pilgrimages, without gifts, without sacrifices, and without special knowledge, men and even merchants attain liberation by worshipping the Śālagrāma stone.
नरकं गर्भवासं च तिर्यक्त्वं कृमियोनिताम् । न याति वैश्य पापोऽपि शालग्रामशिलार्चकः
Not even a sinful merchant who worships the Śālagrāma stone goes to hell, the womb, animal birth, or the state of worms.
दीक्षाविधान मंत्रज्ञो यश्चक्रे बलिमाहरेत् । गंगा गोदावरी रेवा नद्यो मुक्तिप्रदाश्च याः
He who knows the mantras, performs the rites of initiation, and offers oblations—Ganga, Godavari, Reva, and all rivers that grant liberation—
निवसंति हिताः सर्वाः शालग्रामशिला जले । नैवेद्यैर्विविधैः पुष्पैर्धूपदीपैर्विलेपनैः
All these sacred rivers dwell beneficially in the water of the Śālagrāma stone, along with various offerings, flowers, incense, lamps, and ointments.
गीतवादित्रस्तोत्राद्यैः शालग्रामशिलार्चनम् । कुरुते मानवो यस्तु कलौ भक्तिपरायणः
Whoever, devoted to worship, performs the worship of the Śālagrāma stone in the Kali age with songs, music, hymns, and the like—
कल्पकोटिसहस्राणि रमते सन्निधौ हरेः । लिंगैस्तु कोटिभिर्दृष्टैर्यत्फलं पूजितैस्तु तैः
For thousands of millions of aeons, he delights in the presence of Hari; the fruit gained by worshipping millions of liṅgas with sight—
शालग्रामशिलायास्तु ह्येकेनाह्ना हि तत्फलम् । सकृदभ्यर्चिते लिंगे शालग्रामशिलोद्भवे
That very fruit is obtained in a single day by worshipping the Śālagrāma stone, or by worshipping even once a liṅga born from the Śālagrāma stone.
मुक्तिं प्रयांति मनुजा नूनं सांख्येन वर्जिताः । शालग्रामशिलारूपी यत्र तिष्ठति केशवः
Men certainly attain liberation, even without Sāṃkhya knowledge, wherever Keśava abides in the form of the Śālagrāma stone.
तत्र देवाः सुरा यक्षा भुवनानि चतुर्दश । शालग्रामशिलायां तु यः श्राद्धं कुरुते नरः
There, the gods, divine beings, yakṣas, and all fourteen worlds—when a man performs śrāddha at the Śālagrāma stone—
पितरस्तस्य तिष्ठंति तृप्ताः कल्पशतं दिवि । ये पिबंति नरा नित्यं शालग्रामशिलाजलम्
His ancestors remain satisfied in heaven for a hundred aeons; and those men who daily drink the water of the Śālagrāma stone—
पंचगव्यसहस्रैस्तु सेवितैः किं प्रयोजनम् । कोटितीर्थसहस्रैस्तु सेवितैः किं प्रयोजनम्
What is the use of serving a thousand vessels of pañcagavya? What is the use of serving a thousand million holy places?
तोयं यदि पिबेत्पुण्यं शालग्रामशिलांगजम् । शालग्राम शिला यत्र तत्तीर्थं योजनत्रयम्
If one drinks the sacred water from the Śālagrāma stone, wherever the Śālagrāma stone is, that place is a holy site for three yojanas around.
तत्र दानं च होमं च सर्वं कोटिगुणं भवेत् । शालग्रामशिला तोयं यः पिबेद्बिंदुना समम्
There, any gift or sacrifice becomes a hundred million times more fruitful; whoever drinks even a drop of the water from the Śālagrāma stone—
मातृस्तन्यं पुनर्नैव स पिबेद्विष्णुभाङ्नरः । शालग्राम समीपे तु क्रोशमात्रं समंततः
Such a man, having partaken of Viṣṇu's portion, never again drinks his mother's milk; and in the vicinity of the Śālagrāma, for a krośa all around—
कीटकोपि मृतो याति वैकुंठं भवनं परम् । शालग्रामशिलाचक्रं यो दद्याद्दानमुत्तमम्
Even an insect that dies there goes to the supreme abode of Vaikuṇṭha; and whoever gives the Śālagrāma stone's cakra as the highest gift—
