Having performed austerity for the Supreme Lord, Ahilya attained liberation; when the month of Chaitra arrives, on the thirteenth day of the bright fortnight—
On the day of Kamadeva, one should worship Ahilya; wherever a man is born there, he becomes beloved.

He becomes dear to women, prosperous, and another Kamadeva; upon reaching Ayodhya, the renowned tirtha of Shakra—
Immediately upon bathing there, a man obtains the merit of a thousand cows; then one should go to the Soma Tirtha and perform only the bath.

O king, the Soma Tirtha, famed throughout the three worlds, is of great merit; whoever performs the Chandrayana rite at that tirtha—
With a mind purified from all sins, he attains the world of Soma; whether entering fire, water, or fasting—
Whoever dies at the Soma Tirtha is not born among mortals; then one should go to the Stambha Tirtha and bathe there.
Immediately upon bathing there, a man is honored in the world of Soma; then, O king, one should go to the supreme Vishnu Tirtha.
The supreme Vishnu Tirtha, renowned in Yodhani Pura, where the Asuras were fought by Vasudeva in countless numbers—
There the tirtha arose, and Vishnu is pleased here; by fasting day and night, one removes the sin of killing a Brahmin.

Having gone there, O king, one should approach the place of Ganapati; then, O king, one should go to the linga where Janardana is.
There, O King, one who bathes is honored in the world of Vishnu; on the southern bank of the Narmada is a most beautiful sacred place.
There, the great Kamadeva himself performed austerities; for a thousand divine years he worshipped Shankara.
Burned by the mountain of concentration by the great-souled Shankara, and like the white fortnight, the fire blazed like the bright half of the moon.
All those who were burned remained established with the Lord of Flowers; after a thousand divine years, Maheshvara was pleased with them.
Rudra, together with Uma, being pleased, granted them boons; having liberated all those dwelling on the bank of the Narmada.

Bathing, giving gifts, eating, and offering rice balls are to be done there, whether in the presence of fire, in water, or even by fasting.
Even for one who has died within half a yojana, the path is irreversible; the best of men should bathe him with the water of Triambaka.

By worshipping the god Siddheshvara in the morning, a person attains that state which cannot be gained by all the great sacrifices.
