तत्र स्नात्वा नरो राजंस्तर्पयेत्पितृदेवताः । उपोष्य रजनीमेकां पिंडं दत्वा यथाविधि
There, having bathed, O King, a man should offer oblations to the ancestors and the gods; after fasting for a single night and giving a rice-ball according to the prescribed rite.
कन्यागते यथाऽदित्ये अक्षयं संचितं भवेत् । ततो गच्छेत राजेंद्र कपिलातीर्थमुत्तमम्
When the sun enters the sign of Virgo, the merit accumulated becomes inexhaustible; then, O King, one should proceed to the excellent Kapila Tirtha.
तत्र स्नात्वा नरो राजन्कपिलां यः प्रयच्छति । संपूर्णां पृथिवीं दत्वा यत्फलं तदवाप्नुयात्
There, O King, whoever bathes and offers a Kapila cow attains the merit equal to having given away the entire earth.
नर्मदेश्वरं परं तीर्थं न भूतं न भविष्यति । तत्र स्नात्वा नरो राजन्नश्वमेधफलं लभेत्
Narmadeshvara is the supreme holy place—none has been nor will be its equal; bathing there, O King, a man obtains the fruit of an Ashvamedha sacrifice.
तत्र सर्वगतो राजा पृथिव्यामभिजायते । सर्वलक्षणसंपूर्णः सर्वव्याधिविवर्जितः
There, a king is born who is all-pervading on earth, endowed with every auspicious mark, and free from all diseases.
नार्मदीयोत्तरेकूले तीर्थं परमशोभनम् । आदित्यायतनं रम्यमीश्वरेण तु भावितम्
On the northern bank of the Narmada is a most beautiful holy place, the delightful abode of the Sun, sanctified by the Lord Himself.
तत्र स्नात्वा तु राजेंद्र दानं दत्वा च शक्तितः । तस्य तीर्थप्रभावेण दत्तं भवति चाक्षयम्
There, O King, after bathing and giving gifts according to one's ability, by the power of that holy place, whatever is given becomes imperishable.
दरिद्रा व्याधिता ये तु ये च दुष्कृतकर्मणः । मुच्यंते सर्वपापेभ्यः सूर्यलोकं प्रयांति च
Those who are poor, afflicted by disease, or have committed evil deeds—all are freed from every sin and attain the world of the Sun.
माघमासे तु संप्राप्ते शुक्लपक्षस्य सप्तमीम् । वसेदायतने यस्तु निरात्मा यो जितेंद्रियः
When the month of Magha arrives, on the seventh day of the bright fortnight, whoever dwells in the temple, self-controlled and with subdued senses—
न जायते व्याधितश्च कालेंधो बधिरस्तथा । सुभगो रूपसंपन्नः स्त्रीणां भवति वल्लभः
He is not born diseased, blind, or deaf in due course; he becomes fortunate, handsome, and beloved by women.
इदं तीर्थं महापुण्यं मार्कंडेयेन भाषितम् । ये प्रयांति न राजेंद्र वंचितास्ते न संशयः
This holy place of great merit was spoken of by Markandeya; those who go there, O King, are never deceived—of this there is no doubt.
मासेश्वरं ततो गच्छेत्स्नानं तत्र समाचरेत् । स्नातमात्रो नरस्तत्र स्वर्गलोकमवाप्नुयात्
Then one should go to Maseshvara and bathe there; immediately upon bathing, a man attains the world of heaven.
मोदते सर्वलोकस्थो यावदिंद्राश्चतुर्दश । ततः समीपतः स्थित्वा नागेश्वरं तपोवनम्
He delights in all the worlds as long as the fourteen Indras reign; then, remaining nearby, he should go to the Tapovana of Nageshvara.
तत्र स्नात्वा तु राजेंद्र शुचिर्भूत्वा समाहितः । बहुभिर्नागकन्याभिः क्रीडते कालमक्षयम्
There, O King, after bathing, purified and composed, he plays for endless time with many serpent maidens.
कुबेरभवनं गच्छेत्कुबेरो यत्र संस्थितः । कालेश्वरं परं तीर्थं कुबेरो यत्र तोषितः
He should go to the abode of Kubera, where Kubera himself resides; to the supreme holy place of Kaleshvara, where Kubera is pleased.
यत्र स्नात्वा तु राजेंद्र सर्वसंपदमाप्नुयात् । ततः पश्चिमतो गच्छेन्मरुतालयमुत्तमम्
There, O King, by bathing, one attains all prosperity; then, going westward, he should reach the excellent Marutalaya.
तत्र स्नात्वा तु राजेंद्र शुचिर्भूत्वा समाहितः । कांचनं तु ततो दद्यादन्नशक्त्या तु बुद्धिमान्
There, O King, after bathing, purified and composed, he should wisely give gold according to his means.
पुष्पकेण विमानेन वायुलोकं स गच्छति । मम तीर्थं ततो गच्छेन्माघमासे युधिष्ठिर
He goes to the world of the Wind-god in the celestial chariot Pushpaka; then, O Yudhishthira, in the month of Magha, he should go to my holy place.
कृष्णपक्षे चतुर्दश्यां स्नानं तत्र समाचरेत् । नक्तं भोज्यं ततः कुर्यान्न गच्छेद्योनिसंकटम्
On the fourteenth day of the dark fortnight, one should bathe there; afterwards, one should eat only at night and avoid going to impure places.
अहल्यातीर्थं ततो गच्छेत्स्नानं तत्र समाचरेत् । स्नातमात्रो नरस्तत्र अप्सरोभिः प्रमोदते
Then one should go to the Ahilya Tirtha and bathe there; immediately upon bathing, a man delights with the Apsaras.
पारमेश्वरे तपस्तप्त्वा अहल्या मुक्तिमागमत् । चैत्रमासे तु संप्राप्ते शुक्लपक्षे त्रयोदशी
Having performed austerity for the Supreme Lord, Ahilya attained liberation; when the month of Chaitra arrives, on the thirteenth day of the bright fortnight—
कामदेवदिने तस्मिन्नहल्यां तु प्रपूजयेत् । यत्र तत्र समुत्पन्नो नरस्तत्र प्रियो भवेत्
On the day of Kamadeva, one should worship Ahilya; wherever a man is born there, he becomes beloved.
स्त्रीवल्लभो भवेच्छ्रीमान्कामदेव इवापरः । अयोध्यां तु समासाद्य तीर्थं शक्रस्य विश्रुतम्
He becomes dear to women, prosperous, and another Kamadeva; upon reaching Ayodhya, the renowned tirtha of Shakra—
स्नातमात्रो नरस्तत्र गोसहस्र फलं लभेत् । सोमतीर्थं ततो गच्छेत्स्नानमात्रं समाचरेत्
Immediately upon bathing there, a man obtains the merit of a thousand cows; then one should go to the Soma Tirtha and perform only the bath.
स्नातमात्रो नरस्तत्र सर्वपापैः प्रमुच्यते । सोमग्रहे तु राजेंद्र पापक्षयकरं भवेत्
Immediately upon bathing there, a man is freed from all sins; during the Soma eclipse, O king, it becomes the destroyer of sins.
त्रैलोक्यविश्रुतं राजन्सोमतीर्थं महाफलम् । यस्तु चांद्रायणं कुर्यात्तस्मिंस्तीर्थे नराधिप
O king, the Soma Tirtha, famed throughout the three worlds, is of great merit; whoever performs the Chandrayana rite at that tirtha—
सर्वपापविशुद्धात्मा सोमलोकं स गच्छति । अग्निप्रवेशे तु जलेप्यथवापि ह्यनाशने
With a mind purified from all sins, he attains the world of Soma; whether entering fire, water, or fasting—
सोमतीर्थे मृतो यस्तु नासौ मर्त्येभिजायते । स्तंभतीर्थं ततो गच्छेत्स्नानं तत्र समाचरेत्
Whoever dies at the Soma Tirtha is not born among mortals; then one should go to the Stambha Tirtha and bathe there.
स्नातमात्रो नरस्तत्र सोमलोके महीयते । ततो गच्छेत राजेंद्र विष्णुतीर्थमनुत्तमम्
Immediately upon bathing there, a man is honored in the world of Soma; then, O king, one should go to the supreme Vishnu Tirtha.
योधनीपुरविख्यातं विष्णुतीर्थमनुत्तमम् । असुरा योधितास्तत्र वासुदेवेन कोटिशः
