नरके तु चिरं मग्नाः पूर्वे ये च कुलद्वये । तदैव यांति ते स्वर्गं यदार्चंति मुदा हरिम्
Those who were long sunk in hell, whether from the paternal or maternal line, at once go to heaven when they joyfully worship Hari.
विष्णुभक्तस्य ये दासा वैष्णवान्न भुजश्च ये । ते तु क्रतुभुजां वैश्य गतिं यांति निराकुलाः
Those who are servants of a devotee of Viṣṇu, or who eat food left by Vaiṣṇavas, O Vaiśya, they attain the untroubled state of those who have performed sacrifices.
प्रार्थर्यद्वैष्णवस्यान्नं प्रयत्नेन विचक्षणः । सर्वपापविशुद्ध्यर्थं तदभावे जलं पिबेत्
One who wisely seeks the food of a Vaiṣṇava with effort, for the sake of complete purification from all sins, should drink water in its absence.
गोविंदेति जपन्मंत्रं कुत्रचिन्म्रियते यदि । स नरो न यमं पश्येत्तं च नेक्षामहे वयम्
If a man, dying anywhere, recites the mantra 'Govinda,' he does not see Yama; and we do not see him either.
सांगं समुद्रं सध्यानं सऋषिः छंददैवतम् । दीक्षयाविधिवन्मंत्रं जपेद्वै द्वादशाक्षरम्
With all its parts, with meditation, with sages, with meter and deity, the twelve-syllable mantra should be recited properly with initiation.
अष्टाक्षरं च मंत्रेशं ये जपंति नरोत्तमाः । तान्दृष्ट्वा ब्रह्महा शुद्ध्यद्भ्राजते विष्णुवत्स्वयम्
Those best of men who recite the eight-syllable chief mantra—seeing them, even a slayer of a brāhmaṇa is purified and shines among the devotees of Viṣṇu.
शंखिनश्चक्रिणो भूत्वा ब्रह्माभ्यंतरगामिनः । वसंति वैष्णवे लोके विष्णुरूपेण ते नराः
Becoming bearers of the conch and discus, and entering into Brahman, those men dwell in the world of the Vaiṣṇavas in the form of Viṣṇu.
हृदि सूर्ये जले वाथ प्रतिमा स्थंडिलेपि च । समभ्यर्च्य हरिं यांति नरास्तद्वैष्णवं पदम्
Whether in the heart, in the sun, in water, in an image, or even on a sacred ground, those who properly worship Hari attain that Vaiṣṇava abode.
अथवा सर्वदा पूज्यो वासुदेवो मुमुक्षुभिः । शालग्रामे मणौ चक्रे वज्रकीटविनिर्मिते
Alternatively, Vāsudeva should always be worshipped by those seeking liberation, in the Śālagrāma stone, in a jewel, in a discus, or one made by the thunderbolt insect.
अधिष्ठानं हि तद्विष्णोः सर्वपापप्रणाशनम् । सर्वपुण्यप्रदं वैश्य सर्वेषामपि मुक्तिदम्
That is indeed the abode of Viṣṇu, the destroyer of all sins, the bestower of all merit, O Vaiśya, and grants liberation to all.
यः पूजयेद्धरिं चक्रे शालग्रामशिलोद्भवे । राजसूयसहस्रेण तेनेष्टं प्रतिवासरे
Whoever worships Hari in the discus or in the Śālagrāma stone, for him, each day, it is as if he has performed a thousand Rājasūya sacrifices.
सदामनंति वेदांता ब्रह्मनिर्वाणमच्युतम् । तत्प्रसादो भवेन्नॄणां शालग्रामशिलार्चनात्
The Vedāntas always praise the eternal, blissful, unchanging one; by worshipping the Śālagrāma stone, his grace arises for people.
महाकाष्ठस्थितो वह्निर्मखस्थाने प्रकाशते । यथा तथा हरिर्व्यापी शालग्रामे प्रकाशते
Just as fire present in great wood becomes manifest in the place of sacrifice, so too does Hari, who is all-pervading, become manifest in the Śālagrāma stone.
अपि पापसमाचाराः कर्म्मण्यनधिकारिणः । शालग्रामार्चका वैश्य नैव यांति यमालयम्
Even those engaged in sinful conduct, those not qualified for ritual acts, and Vaiśyas who worship the Śālagrāma, do not go to the abode of Yama.
न तथा रमते लक्ष्म्यां न तथा स्वपुरे हरिः । शालग्रामशिलाचक्रे यथा स रमते सदा
Hari does not delight so much in Lakṣmī, nor so much in his own abode, as he always delights in the wheel of the Śālagrāma stone.
अग्निहोत्रं कृतं तेन दत्ता पृथ्वी ससागरा । येनार्चितो हरिश्चक्रे शालग्रामशिलोद्भवे
He who worships Hari manifest in the Śālagrāma stone has performed the Agnihotra and given the earth with its oceans.
शिला द्वादश भो वैश्य शालग्रामशिलोद्भवाः । विधिवत्पूजिता येन तस्य पुण्यं वदामि ते
O Vaiśya, I will tell you the merit of one who worships, according to rule, twelve stones arising from Śālagrāma.
कोटिद्वादशलिंगैस्तु पूजितैः स्वर्णपंकजैः । यत्स्याद्द्वादशकालेषु दिनेनैकेन तद्भवेत्
The merit obtained in one day by worshipping twelve Śālagrāma stones equals that gained by worshipping crores of twelve-liṅga images with golden lotuses at twelve times.
यः पुनः पूजयेद्भक्त्या शालग्रामशिला शतम् । उषित्वा स हरेर्लोके चक्रवर्त्तीह जायते
Whoever worships a hundred Śālagrāma stones with devotion, after living thus, is born as a universal monarch in the world of Hari.
कामैः क्रोधैः प्रलोभैश्च व्याप्तो यत्र नराधमः । सोऽपि याति हरेर्लोकं शालग्रामशिलार्चनात्
Even the lowest man, filled with desires, anger, and greed, attains the world of Hari through worship of the Śālagrāma stone.
यः पूजयेच्च गोविंदं शालग्रामे मुदा नरः । आभूतसंप्लवं यावन्न स प्रच्यवते दिवः
A man who joyfully worships Govinda in the Śālagrāma does not fall from heaven until the end of the cosmic dissolution.
विना तीर्थैर्विना दानैर्विना यज्ञैर्विना मतिम् । मुक्तिं यांति नरा वैश्य शालग्रामशिलार्चनात्
Without pilgrimages, without gifts, without sacrifices, and without special resolve, men attain liberation by worship of the Śālagrāma stone.
नरकं गर्भवासं च तिर्यक्त्वं कृमियोनिताम् । न याति वैश्य पापोऽपि शालग्रामशिलार्चकः
Even a sinful Vaiśya who worships the Śālagrāma stone does not go to hell, the womb, the state of animals, or the birth of worms.
दीक्षाविधान मंत्रज्ञो यश्चक्रे बलिमाहरेत् । गंगा गोदावरी रेवा नद्यो मुक्तिप्रदाश्च याः
He who knows the rite of initiation, the mantras, and who offers the prescribed oblation—Ganga, Godavari, Reva, and all the rivers that grant liberation—
निवसंति हिताः सर्वाः शालग्रामशिला जले । नैवेद्यैर्विविधैः पुष्पैर्धूपदीपैर्विलेपनैः
All these sacred rivers dwell beneficially in the water of the Śālagrāma stone, along with various offerings, flowers, incense, lamps, and ointments.
गीतवादित्रस्तोत्राद्यैः शालग्रामशिलार्चनम् । कुरुते मानवो यस्तु कलौ भक्तिपरायणः
He who, devoted to worship in the Kali age, worships the Śālagrāma stone with songs, musical instruments, hymns, and the like—
कल्पकोटिसहस्राणि रमते सन्निधौ हरेः । लिंगैस्तु कोटिभिर्दृष्टैर्यत्फलं पूजितैस्तु तैः
For thousands of crores of aeons, one delights in the presence of Hari; the fruit obtained by seeing and worshipping crores of liṅgas—
शालग्रामशिलायास्तु ह्येकेनाह्ना हि तत्फलम् । सकृदभ्यर्चिते लिंगे शालग्रामशिलोद्भवे
That very fruit is obtained in a single day by worshipping the Śālagrāma stone, even by worshipping the liṅga arising from the Śālagrāma stone just once.
मुक्तिं प्रयांति मनुजा नूनं सांख्येन वर्जिताः । शालग्रामशिलारूपी यत्र तिष्ठति केशवः
Indeed, men who are devoid of Sāṅkhya knowledge attain liberation where Keśava abides in the form of the Śālagrāma stone.
तत्र देवाः सुरा यक्षा भुवनानि चतुर्दश । शालग्रामशिलायां तु यः श्राद्धं कुरुते नरः
There, all the gods, the deities, the Yakṣas, and the fourteen worlds are present where a man performs śrāddha for ancestors at the Śālagrāma stone.
