O best of Brahmins, the island of Kesarasya is followed by Maudaki, and then comes the great island of Puman, which is surrounded on all sides; its length and breadth are also described.
It is counted as part of Jambudvipa, and in its midst stands a great tree named Shaka; O wise ones, its people dwell there along with their followers.
There, the blessed regions flourish, and Shankara is worshipped; there, Siddhas, Charanas, and deities go.
All the people there are righteous, the four castes are free from envy, devoted to their own duties, and no thief is seen there.
The people there are long-lived, highly wise, free from old age and death, and they flourish like rivers during the rainy season flowing to the ocean.
There are rivers with holy waters, and the Ganga flows in many forms; also Sukumari, Kumari, Shita, and Shitodaka are found there.
O Brahmins, there is also the great river Mahanadi, and the river Manijala; the river Ikshuvardhanika is also remembered by the great sages.
From there flow holy rivers with pure waters, exceedingly beautiful, in hundreds of thousands, for Indra causes rain there.
Their names cannot be fully remembered or counted; those sacred rivers are indeed countless.
Then there are four blessed regions, renowned in the world: Mrigas, Mashakas, Manasas, and Mallakas.
Among the Mrigas, the Brahmins are predominant, devoted to their own duties; among the Mashakas, the Kshatriyas are righteous and fulfill all desires.
The Manasas are greatly fortunate, living by the duties of the Vaishyas, endowed with all enjoyments, brave, and intent on righteousness and wealth.
The Mallakas are always Shudras, men of virtuous conduct; there is no king, O best of Brahmins, nor punishment nor punishers.
They protect each other, knowing righteousness, by their own duties alone; only this much can be spoken about that island.
And this alone should be heard concerning the mighty Shaka island.
Suta said: O Brahmins, in the northern islands, stories are heard; thus, as the blessed ones speak there, listen to that.
There is the ocean of clarified butter, and another filled with curd, the Suroda ocean, and another, the ocean of milk.
All these islands, O best of twice-born, are each twice the size of the previous, and the mountains, O wise ones, are surrounded by oceans.

In the middle island, the mountain is great and made of crystal; in the west, the mountain is dark, called Nārāyaṇa's companion, O twice-born.

Gomanta is the mountain, O Brahmins, vast and rich in all minerals; there, the glorious lotus-eyed one dwells eternally.
He, Nārāyaṇa Hari, always associates with those seeking liberation; in the Kuśa island, O best of Brahmins, the mountain is adorned with coral.
The second mountain is called Sunāmā, difficult to conquer; the third, O best of Brahmins, is Kumuda, radiant by name.

The fourth is called Puṣpavān, the fifth is Kuśeśaya; the sixth is named Harigiri—these six are the foremost mountains.
The space between them is twice divided in measure; the first region is called Audbhida, the second is Reṇumaṇḍala.

The third region is named Suratha, the fourth is known as Lambana; the fifth is Dhṛtimat, the sixth is Prabhākara.

The seventh region is Kāpila; these seven are the region divisions. In these, O twice-born, gods, gandharvas, and joyful people dwell, delighting and enjoying; no one dies there.
There are no robbers or people of foreign origin, O twice-born; all the people are mostly fair and gentle, and of noble nature.
