Dwelling alone in the forest of austerities, the ascetic is protected; he knows the essence of the Vedas and their branches, and has mastered the science of archery.

By the merit of these daughters, O great king, he will attain the world of Indra; Nahusha, powerful in virtue, will enjoy the status of Indra, O goddess.
A son named Yayati, righteous in soul, will be born to you; he will be a great king, protector of his people, and compassionate to all living beings.
His sons will be four in number, endowed with great energy, possessing strength and valor, and accomplished in the science of archery.
The first will be named Turu, the second Puru, the third Uru, and the fourth, rich in valor, Yadu.
In this way, the sons will be of great valor, radiant, and mighty; they will be noble souls endowed with all brilliance.
And the sons of Yadu, heroic and possessing lion-like prowess—hear now their names, auspicious one, as I recite them.
Bhoja, Bhimaka, Andhaka, and likewise Kunjara; and Vrishni, whose nature is supremely righteous, will be the foundation of truth.
The sixth is Shrutasena, and Shrutadhara is the seventh; Kaladamshtra, of great might, who in battle conquers even Time, is powerful.
O beautiful one, the mighty sons of Yadu will be known as the Yadavas; their sons and grandsons will number in the thousands.

Your wise husband, O auspicious-faced one, will return; having slain the demon Hunda, he will marry you thus.
Tears, born of sorrow and burning, fall from her eyes; the honor-giver gently wipes away Ashokasundari's tears.
He will remove your suffering and uplift his own lineage; making his father happy, he will become the protector of his people.
All this, O auspicious one, is the tale of the gods I have told you; abandoning grief and sorrow, turn now to happiness.
Ashokasundari said: When indeed will my husband return, if it is ordained by the gods? Speak truly, knower of righteousness, and increase my happiness.
Vidvara said: Soon you will see your husband, listen, O beautiful one; having spoken thus, the Gandharva departed for the abode of the gods.
There, Ashokasundari performed austerities, abandoning desire, anger, and also greed, O daughter of Shiva.
Thus, in the Padma Purana, in the section of Bhoomi Khanda, in the story of Vena, in the greatness of Gurutirtha, in the tale of Chyavana, in the account of Nahusha, this is the one hundred and ninth chapter.
Kunjala said: Having taken leave of all the sages, especially Vashishtha, foremost among ascetics, Nahusha, eager to depart, prepared to confront the demon.

In the sky, all the gods joyfully sounded drums and showered flowers upon the head of Nahusha.
Then the thousand-eyed god, Indra, arrived together with the gods and gave him weapons and missiles, shining with the brilliance of the sun.
