Hari said: O great king, in the Krita Yuga, whenever people praise me, they will attain liberation at that very moment—there is no doubt about this.
In the Treta Yuga, by reciting for just a month; in the Dvapara, by six months; and in the Kali Yuga, by a single year, those who recite, O men—
They attain heaven, O king, and the Vaishnava realm that grants the highest goal; whether a Brahmin recites after bathing three times a day or just once—
Whatever desire he longs for, that will surely come to him; a Kshatriya gains victory, adorned with wealth and grain.
A Vaishya becomes prosperous and happy; a Shudra is uplifted; and whoever makes an outcaste hear this will be freed from sins.
The listener will never see the terrible hell; and by the grace of my hymn, he will attain all accomplishments.
If recited at the time of śrāddha by Brahmins while eating, O king, the ancestors, satisfied, will go to the Vaishnava world.
If a Brahmin or Kshatriya recites the hymn after offering libations, his ancestors, their minds delighted, drink nectar.
If a man recites with devotion during homa or in the midst of a sacrifice, then no obstacles arise there, and all success is attained.
In dangerous, difficult places—amidst wild beasts or the threat of tigers, or when beset by thieves—there one should recite the hymn.
There, O king, peace will certainly arise—there is no doubt; and in other auspicious situations, or when approaching the royal gate—
If a man recites ten thousand times the name of Vāsudeva, having bathed in purity, observing celibacy, free from anger and greed—
With sesame and rice, offering a tenth part mixed with ghee in the fire, and worshipping Vāsudeva with a devoted mind, one should give (gifts).
After each verse, one should offer oblations with meditation; to such devoted servants, I never abandon their side.
When the Kali Yuga has fully arrived, one will become a servant to the hymn; but if, due to the decline of the Vedas, it is not given to just anyone—
He will become fulfilled in all desires and wealth; thus, O king, this hymn composed by me is fruitful—listen.
It was created by Brahma, recited long ago by Rudra; freed from the sin of killing a Brahmin, Indra too was released from guilt.
The gods, the secret sages, the accomplished, the Vidyadharas, and immortals, and the Nagas—having worshipped this hymn—attained the success they desired.
Blessed and fortunate indeed is that giver; he will surely have sons. Whoever recites my hymn—there is no need for further deliberation.
Come, O best of kings, together with your wife, to my abode; the Lord has given his hand in support to that king.
There, the drums did not sound, but the Gandharvas sang sweetly; the foremost Apsarases danced and showered flowers.
All the gods and sages praised him with Vedic hymns; then, together with his beloved, the king went to Hari.
He saw that radiant one, being praised by hosts of gods and Siddhas, his mind filled with joy; there, his father and mother, of great power, had swiftly assembled and stood.
Thus ends the ninety-ninth chapter, the story of Cyavana at the holy Guru-tirtha, in the narrative of Vena, in the Bhumi-khanda of the glorious Padma Purana.
Vishnu said: On the beautiful bank of the Narmada, beneath a banyan tree, the father stands; Vijvala too arrived and, bowing to his father—
That great-minded one, devoted to righteousness, recounted in his father's presence the glory of the hymn named after Vasudeva.
Just as Vishnu himself came and granted him an auspicious boon, so too did he narrate everything with a heart full of joy.
Hearing the account from Vijvala, King Kunjala, overwhelmed with great happiness, embraced his son.
He said, 'O child, you have performed a meritorious deed for the great-souled king, a great and virtuous act by praising Vasudeva.'
Having thus spoken to his son and blessed him with auspicious words, he praised his son, who was accompanied by the gods, again and again.
