There is no doubt that by such worship one dwells long in the world of cows; and those who especially give a golden cow there—
Those men enjoy happiness for as long as the fourteen Indras reign; and whoever gives ten cows to a twice-born there—
At the Khaṇḍa Tīrtha, O best of gods, that is known as an act of endless fruit; and there, the wise should plant a pippala tree.
By doing so, O goddess of the gods, one attains the world of the ancestors; and those who plant five divine amalaki trees—
After enjoying happiness in this world, they go to the world of Hari.
Thus, in the glorious Padma Mahāpurāṇa, in the section of fifty-five thousand verses, in the Uttarakhaṇḍa, in the dialogue between Umā and Maheśvara, this is the one hundred and forty-fourth chapter named 'Khaṇḍa Tīrtha.'
Mahādeva said: Thereafter, one should go to Jambū Tīrtha for bathing, which destroys sins; in the Kali age, for men, it stands like a stairway to heaven.
There, on the excellent mountain Daśāṅga, Jāmbavat once established the lord of bears, a liṅga worshipped by hosts of gods.
When Rāma once slew the demon Rāvaṇa, at that time Jāmbavat proclaimed with drumbeats in all directions.
It was declared, 'Rāma has conquered, Rāvaṇa is slain in battle, Sītā is recovered!' and they bathed in that excellent, auspicious tīrtha.
There, O queen of the gods, a liṅga was established in his own name; whoever bathes there, remembering Rāma and his brother, at once—
Having bathed at Jāmbavantīśvara, one is honored in Rudra's world; wherever, O goddess, remembrance of Śrī Rāma is performed, liberation from worldly bonds is seen among both moving and unmoving beings.
Know that I am Rama, and Rama is indeed Rudra; thus, O Devi, when this is understood, there is never any division anywhere.
Those who recite 'Rama Rama' or 'Rama' in their minds will attain success in all endeavors, age after age.
O Devi, I always engage in the remembrance of Shri Rama; hearing this, O Devi, rebirth never arises again.
Dwelling always in Kashi, I continually remember Shri Rama, lotus-eyed, O Devi, with devotion and proper ritual.
Then, Jambavan, recalling Rama the splendid, became known as Jambavanta, having established the guru of the worlds.
There, after bathing, eating, and worshipping the deity, one attains the realm of Shiva for as long as the fourteen Indras exist.
Here, merely by bathing, one gains strength equal to that of Jambavan, by the grace of Shri Vishvesha.
Here, when a man gives land, the fruit is a thousandfold, by the sight of Jambavantesha.
Thus, in the Shri Padma Mahapurana, in the section of fifty-five thousand verses, in the Uttarakanda, in the dialogue of Uma and Maheshvara, is the one hundred and fiftieth chapter named 'The Glory of the Jambavat Tirtha.'
On the bank of the Sabhramati, hidden is a supremely pure tirtha, known as Khangadhara; in the Kali age, it will remain concealed.
Where, by bathing or drinking the water as one wishes, one becomes free from all sins and is honored in the realm of Rudra.
There, the holy Sabhramati, following Kashyapa, was held by Rudra in his matted locks, as she descended to the netherworld.
There, by the name Khangadhara, Rudra himself resides; where, O Queen of the Gods, even sinners who bathe ascend to heaven.
Here, they cite an ancient legend, concerning the extremely difficult vow performed by a Kirata.
Parvati said: What was the Kirata's name, and what vow did he undertake? I wish to hear all of it, told truthfully.
There is no one else in the world, O best of speakers, except you; therefore, O Lord, tell everything that is beneficial for listening.
Mahadeva said: Once there was a very fierce one named Chanda, wicked in nature, cruel, deceitful, merciless, and a source of fear for beings.
With nets, the evil-minded one killed fish constantly; with arrows, he slew deer, wild beasts, black antelopes, and those with horns.
