King Yayāti, son of Nahusha, beheld Vaikuṇṭha, the supreme place of liberation, filled with hosts of gods.
He entered the delightful city, free from all burning pain, and saw Nārāyaṇa, the remover of all suffering, flawless.
He saw the Lord of the universe, adorned with all ornaments, clad in yellow garments, marked with the Śrīvatsa, of great brilliance, shining amidst aerial mansions.
Mounted on Garuḍa, endowed with splendor, the Supreme Lord, who is the ultimate goal of all the worlds of the gods.
He shines forth in the form of supreme bliss and liberation, worshipped by the great worlds and by the supremely virtuous Vaiṣṇavas.
Surrounded by hosts of gods, attended by groups of Gandharvas, and Apsarases, the great Lord Hari, remover of sorrow and suffering.
Then the king, together with his wife, bowed to Nārāyaṇa; all the Vaiṣṇavas and humans bowed to Madhusūdana.
All the Vaiṣṇavas who had come with the king, O wise one, bowed with devotion to his two lotus feet.
To that great-souled king, radiant with brilliance and bowing in reverence, Hṛṣīkeśa spoke: 'I am pleased with you, O steadfast one.'
'Choose a boon, O king of kings, whatever is in your heart. I will grant it to you without doubt, for you are my devoted follower, O wise one.'
The king said: 'If you, O Lord of gods, O slayer of Madhu, are pleased, then grant me eternal servitude to you, O Lord of the universe.'
Viṣṇu said: 'So be it, O greatly fortunate one. You are my devotee, without doubt. In this world, O great king, you shall remain with her.'
Thus addressed, King Yayāti, lord of the earth, by the grace of that god, attained the world of Viṣṇu.
This king dwells in the supreme Vaiṣṇava realm.
Sukarma said: 'All this, the story that destroys sin, has been told to you—divine and liberating for sons, bestowing much merit.'
The deeds of Yayāti, as heard, are seen directly in the world: Pūru gained a great kingdom, while Turu fell into misfortune.
By the grace and anger of their father, as it happened then, so again: this is a meritorious, renowned, and wealth-bestowing tale for sons.
Both Turu and Yadu were subject to a curse; there is nothing equal to father and mother, who grant the fruits of one's desires.
With longing in his heart, let a father call his son; and a mother, saying 'son, son'—hear the meritorious result of this.
When a son, thus called, goes to his mother with joy, he obtains the merit of bathing in the Ganges.
He who washes the feet of his parents, O greatly renowned one, enjoys the fruit of all pilgrimages by their grace.
By massaging their limbs, one attains the fruit of an Aśvamedha sacrifice; a son who nourishes his elders with food, clothing, and baths—
Such a son acquires merit equal to giving the earth itself; the Ganges embodies all sacred waters, and so does the mother—there is no doubt.
Just as the Sindhu is established in the world as filled with much merit, so too is the father, according to the ancient poets.
Sukarma said: 'He who abuses or shouts at his father or mother—such a son surely goes to the hell called Raurava, without doubt.'
A householder who does not support his aged mother and father—such a son certainly goes to hell and experiences suffering.
The wicked-minded son who insults his teacher is a perpetrator of evil; no atonement for this is found in the ancient texts composed by poets.
Knowing this, I honor the Brahmin every day; I bow my head in devotion to my mother and father always.
Whenever my teacher calls me and tells me what is right or wrong, I do it without hesitation, to the best of my ability, O Pippala.
Through this, supreme knowledge has arisen in me, granting liberation; by the grace of these two, one turns in the cycle of worldly existence.
