तस्मादत्र महाराज स्थातव्यं हि त्वयानघ । एवमुक्तः शिवेनापि ययातिर्हरिवल्लभः
Therefore, O great king, you must remain here, O sinless one; thus addressed by Shiva, Yayati, beloved of Hari—
भक्त्या प्रणम्य देवेशं शंकरं नतकंधरः । एतत्सर्वं महादेव त्वयोक्तमिह सांप्रतम्
With devotion, bowing to the lord of the gods, Shankara, with bent neck, he said: O Mahadeva, all this you have just spoken here.
युवयोरंतरं नास्ति एका मूर्तिर्द्विधाभवत् । वैष्णवं गंतुमिच्छामि पादौ तव नमाम्यहम्
There is no separation between you two; one form has become two. I wish to go to the Vaishnava realm; I bow to your feet.
एवमस्तु महाराज गच्छ लोकं तु वैष्णवम् । समादिष्टः शिवेनापि प्रतस्थे वसुधाधिपः
So be it, O great king; go now to the Vaishnava world. Thus instructed by Shiva, the lord of the earth set forth.
पृथ्वीशस्तैर्महापुण्यैर्वैष्णवैर्विष्णुवल्लभैः । नृत्यमानैस्ततस्तैस्तु पुरतस्तस्य भूपतेः
The king of the earth, accompanied by those great, virtuous Vaishnavas, beloved of Vishnu, who danced before him, proceeded onward.
शंखशब्दैः सुपापघ्नैः सिंहनादैः सुपुष्कलैः । जगाम निःस्वनै राजा पूज्यमानः सुचारणैः
With the sounds of conch shells, which dispel evil, and abundant lion-roars, the king advanced, honored by noble attendants amidst resounding noises.
सुस्वरैर्गीयमानस्तु पाठकैः शास्त्रकोविदैः । गायंति पुरतस्तस्य गंधर्वा गीततत्पराः
Sung with melodious voices by reciters skilled in scripture, the Gandharvas, devoted to song, sang before him.
ऋषिभिः स्तूयमानश्च देववृंदैः समन्वितैः । अप्सरोभिः सुरूपाभिः सेव्यमानः स नाहुषिः
Praised by sages and surrounded by hosts of gods, served by beautiful Apsaras, that descendant of Nahusha was honored.
गंधर्वैः किन्नरैः सिद्धैश्चारणैः पुण्यमंगलैः । साध्यैर्विद्याधरै राजा मरुद्भिर्वसुभिस्तथा
The king was accompanied by Gandharvas, Kinnaras, Siddhas, Charanas of auspicious merit, Sadhyas, Vidyadharas, Maruts, and Vasus.
रुद्रैश्चादित्यवर्गैश्च लोकपालैर्दिगीश्वरैः । स्तूयमानो महाराजस्त्रैलोक्येन समंततः
Praised by Rudras, groups of Adityas, guardians of the worlds, and lords of the directions, the great king was honored by all three worlds.
ददृशे वैष्णवं लोकमनौपम्यमनामयम् । विमानैः कांचनै राजन्सर्वशोभासमाविलैः
He beheld the Vaishnava world, incomparable and free from affliction, O king, adorned with golden palaces radiant in every splendor.
हंसकुंदेंदुधवलैर्विमानैरुपशोभितैः । प्रासादैः शतभौमैश्च मेरुमंदरसंनिभैः
Adorned with palaces as white as swans, jasmine, and moonlight, and with mansions as numerous as a hundred earths, resembling Meru and Mandara.
शिखरैरुल्लिखद्भिश्च स्वर्व्योमहाटकान्वितैः । जाज्वल्यमानैः कलशैः शोभते सुपुरोत्तमम्
With spires reaching up, adorned with great celestial gems, and shining urns, the supreme city gleamed brilliantly.
तारागणैर्यथाकाशं तेजः श्रिया प्रकाशते । प्रज्वलत्तेजोज्वालाभिर्लोचनैरिव लोकते
It shone with groups of stars, like the sky, radiant with splendor; it blazed with streams of light, appearing as if seen by eyes.
नानारत्नैर्हरेर्लोकः प्रहसद्दशनैरिव । समाह्वयति तान्पुण्यान्वैष्णवान्विष्णुवल्लभान्
The realm of Hari, adorned with various gems, seemed to smile with its shining teeth, summoning those virtuous Vaishnavas, beloved of Vishnu.
ध्वज व्याजेन राजेंद्र चलिताग्रैः सुपल्लवैः । श्वसनांदोलितैस्तैश्च ध्वजाग्रैश्च मनोहरैः
O king, banners with moving tips and lovely leaves, swayed by the wind, and their enchanting banner-tops, appeared as if by pretext.
हेमदंडैश्च घंटाभिः सर्वत्रसमलंकृतम् । सूर्यतेजः प्रकाशैश्च गोपुराट्टालकैस्ततः
Everywhere adorned with golden staffs and bells, and with towers and turrets shining with the brilliance of the sun.
गवाक्षैर्जालमालैश्च वातायनमनोहरैः । प्रतोलीनां प्रकाशैश्च प्राकारैर्हेमरूपकैः
With latticed windows, garlanded rows, charming ventilators, and the radiant gateways of avenues, and walls of golden forms.
तोरणैः सुपताकाभिर्नानाशब्दैः सुमंगलैः । कलशाग्रैश्चक्रबिंबै रविबिंबसमप्रभैः
With gateways adorned by splendid flags, auspicious sounds of many kinds, and urn-tops and disc emblems shining like the sun's orb.
सुभोगैः शतकक्षैश्च निर्जलांबुदसन्निभैः । दंडच्छत्रसमाकीर्णैः कलशैरुपशोभितैः
With delightful hundred-pillared halls, resembling cloudless water, and decorated with staffs and parasols, and adorned with urns.
प्रावृट्कालांबुदाकारैर्मदिरैरुपशोभितैः । कलशैः शोभमानैस्तैर्ऋक्षैर्द्यौरिव भूतलम्
With jars shining like rainclouds of the monsoon season, filled with wine and resplendent, the earth appeared like the sky adorned with constellations.
दंडजालपताकाभिर्ऋक्षजालसमप्रभैः । तादृशैः स्फाटिकाकारैः कांतिशंखेंदुसन्निभैः
With banners of staff-arrays, shining like clusters of stars, and with crystal-like, radiant, moon-bright conch shells, it was adorned in such a manner.
हेमप्रासादसंबाधैर्नानाधातुमयैस्ततः । विमानैरर्बुदसंख्यैः शतकोटिसहस्रकैः
Then, with golden palaces crowded together, and countless aerial mansions made of various metals, numbering in the hundreds of crores and thousands.
सर्वभोगयुतैश्चैव शोभते हरिपत्तनम् । यैः समाराधितो देवः शंखचक्रगदाधरः
The city of Hari shone, endowed with all enjoyments, by those who had worshipped the Lord bearing the conch, discus, and mace.
ते प्रसादात्तस्य तेषु निवसंति गृहेषु च । सर्वपुण्येषु दिव्येषु भोगाढ्येषु च मानवाः
By the grace of that Lord, they dwell in those houses—humans in all the divine, meritorious, and pleasure-filled abodes.
वैष्णवाः पुण्यकर्माणो निर्धूताशेषकल्मषाः । एवंविधैर्गृहैः पुण्यैः शोभितं विष्णुमंदिरम्
The Vaiṣṇavas, performers of virtuous deeds, with all sins washed away, dwell in such meritorious houses, making the temple of Viṣṇu resplendent.
नानावृक्षैः समाकीर्णं वनैश्चंदनशोभितैः । सर्वकामफलै राजन्सर्वत्र समलंकृतम्
It is filled with various trees and adorned with sandalwood groves, decorated everywhere with trees yielding all desired fruits, O King.
वापीकुंडतडागैश्च सारसैरुपशोभितैः । हंसकारंडवाकीर्णैः कल्हारैरुपशोभितैः
With ponds, tanks, and lakes beautified by cranes, swans, and waterfowl, and adorned with blooming lotuses.
शतपत्रैर्महापद्मैः पद्मोत्पलविराजितैः । कनकोत्पलवर्णैश्च सरोभिश्च विराजते
It shines with hundred-petaled lotuses, great red lotuses, and is adorned with lotuses and water-lilies of golden hue.
वैकुंठं सर्वशोभाढ्यं देवोद्यानैरलंकृतम् । दिव्यशोभासमाकीर्णं वैष्णवैरुपशोभितम्
Vaikuṇṭha, adorned with all splendor and divine gardens, filled with celestial beauty, is made resplendent by the Vaiṣṇavas.
