Having seen that dharma, we have seen you, who take any form at will, who act as you desire, and who speak truth in this way.
By any of the three kinds of action, we are unable to abandon you; wherever you go, we go, enjoying happiness and merit.
Even if you are in hell, we will be there too, without doubt; what use are wives, wealth, pleasures, or life itself?
Without you, O great king, there is no reason for any of these; only with you, O king, shall we go, not otherwise.
Hearing these words of the people, the lord of the earth was filled with great joy and spoke to them.
Let all the worlds of great merit come with me; the king mounted the chariot with that wish-fulfilling maiden.
On a chariot colored like a swan, resembling the disc of the moon, fanned by camaras and fans, free from sorrow.
Adorned with that pure, meritorious banner, shining like the god Indra, king of the gods.
Praised by sages and by bards and celestial singers, and praised by the people, Yayāti, son of Nahuṣa.
All the people then came to the king in vehicles—elephants, horses, chariots, and others—setting out toward heaven.
Brāhmaṇas, Kṣatriyas, Vaiśyas, Śūdras, and other distinct peoples; all the worlds devoted to Viṣṇu, absorbed in meditation on Viṣṇu.
Their banners were white, adorned with golden staffs, all marked with conch and discus, all bearing staffs and flags.
Among the crowds of people, the flags shone, stirred by the wind; all wore divine garlands, adorned with tulasī leaves.
Their bodies smeared with divine sandalwood, anointed with heavenly fragrances, radiant in divine garments, adorned with divine ornaments.
All the worlds, beautiful in form, approached the king; hundreds of thousands of subjects, and hundreds of lakhs and crores as well.
Thousands upon thousands of people followed; all those virtuous Vaishnavas accompanied the king.
All were devoted to meditation on Vishnu, steadfast in recitation and giving; Sukarma spoke: Thus, all departed, filled with great joy.
Having installed his son Puru, O great king, in sovereign rule, Yayati, lord of the earth, then went to the realm of Indra.
By his brilliance, virtue, righteousness, and austerity, all those people set forth to the supreme Vaishnava world.
Then the gods, together with Gandharvas, Kinnaras, and Charanas, accompanied by the king of the gods, arrived before him.
They honored that foremost king; Indra spoke: Welcome, O great king, enter my abode.
Here, enjoy divine pleasures and desires as your mind wishes; The king spoke: O thousand-eyed, greatly wise one, your two lotus feet—
I bow to them, O god; I shall go to Brahma's world. Praised by the gods, he went to Brahma's world.
Padmayoni, of great brilliance, together with eminent sages, then offered him hospitality with water for the feet and other excellent offerings.
He said: Go to Vishnu's world by your own deeds. Thus addressed by the Creator, he went to Shiva's abode.
Shankara, together with Uma, performed hospitality and worship; to that king, he spoke these words:
You are devoted to Krishna, O king; you are also very dear to me. Therefore, O king Yayati, dwell in my abode.
Enjoy all pleasures, O king, which are unattainable by mortals; there is no difference between me and Vishnu, O king, without doubt.
He who is Vishnu in form is indeed Rudra, without doubt; and Rudra, O king, is also the eternal Vishnu.
There is no difference between the two; therefore I say this: I grant the abode to the virtuous devotee of Vishnu.
